Hayward ended Monday's 115-109 win over the Pacers with 22 points (8-15 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five assists, three rebounds and one steal across 34 minutes. Hayward helped guide the Hornets to a comeback win, scoring nine points in the final five minutes. Monday's game marked only the second time in March that Hayward has topped 20 points, but he's remained a roster-worthy option during that stretch while the Hornets have been without LaMelo Ball (ankle). Terry Rozier and Kelly Oubre are locked in as Charlotte's preferred scorers and playmakers, but Hayward and P.J. Washington have remained serviceable fantasy commodities in secondary roles.... Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Lackadaisical in heavy loss
Hayward posted six points (2-4 FG, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one steal in 22 minutes during Friday's 121-82 loss to Philadelphia. Hayward appeared disinterested in the loss, and given the eventual outcome, who could blame him? With the Hornets now playing for lottery balls only, it makes sense that Hayward could be scaled back over the coming weeks. For now, he remains a viable 12-team asset, albeit an unappealing one. Beyond that, there is certainly a chance he fades into obscurity before the season is done.... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Struggles with shot Thursday
Hayward contributed two points (1-9 FG, 0-2 3Pt), five rebounds, six assists and one block over 33 minutes during Thursday's 113-103 win over the Pistons. Hayward matched his season-low output in the contest, connecting on just one of his nine attempts from the field while misfiring from deep on both of his tries. Given that he's coming off of 10 straight games with at least 12 points, averaging 19.7 per game during that span, this outing should be chalked up as just an off night for Hayward.... See More ... Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Teases triple-double in win
Hayward finished with 23 points (9-17 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), nine rebounds, eight assists and one block over 36 minutes during Tuesday's 112-105 victory over the Knicks. The veteran wing has never recorded a triple-double in his career, but he came within sniffing distance of one Tuesday to help the Hornets end the Knicks' nine-game win streak. Hayward has scored in double digits in 10 straight games, averaging 19.7 points, 4.9 boards, 4.9 assists, 1.5 threes and 1.2 steals over that stretch while shooting 53.8 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from beyond the arc, and he should maintain elevated usage down the stretch with LaMelo Ball (ankle) done for the season.... Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Solid line against Pistons
Hayward logged 19 points (8-15 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six assists, five rebounds and two steals over 36 minutes during Monday's 117-106 victory over Detroit. The 32-year-old forward is healthy again, and he's regained something very much like his old form from his Utah days. Hayward has scored at least 16 points in six straight games, averaging 21.7 points, 5.5 boards, 4.5 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.3 threes over that stretch while shooting 57.5 percent from the floor and 47.1 percent from three-point range.... Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Goes for 21 points versus Heat
Hayward contributed 21 points (8-14 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 30 minutes during Saturday's 108-103 win over the Heat. Hayward was efficient from the field and posted a solid stat line across the board, though his scoring numbers stole the show. He's now scored at least 20 points in four of his last five appearances and is averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.6 steals during that stretch.... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Logs double-double in win
Hayward closed Friday's 121-113 win over the Timberwolves with 27 points (10-18 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 13 rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals across 32 minutes. Hayward's 13 boards were a season high, earning him his second double-double of the season. He has logged over 30 minutes in each of his last seven outings and is starting to play like he did back in October and November, showing more consistency in his scoring. The veteran forward is averaging 22.5 points over his last four contests and has stayed healthy enough lately to solidify his role in the offense, which is also helped by the fact that Jalen McDaniels was traded to Philadelphia.... Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Offensive surge continues
Hayward totaled 26 points (9-12 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), eight assists, five rebounds and two steals across 34 minutes during Monday's 144-138 victory over the Hawks. Hayward continues to produce well on the offensive end, having now shot at least 50 percent from the floor in nine of his past 11 games. He has also recorded multiple steals in three straight contests while typically converting at a high rate from the free-throw line. Though injury concerns remain for the veteran forward, his minutes are on the rise, as is his production, making him an increasingly more valuable commodity across nine-category formats.... Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Bumping up minutes limit
Coach Steve Clifford said Hayward's minutes limit will be increased Sunday against the Magic, Sam Perley of the Hornets' official site reports. Hayward has averaged 25.4 minutes in seven games since he returned from the hamstring injury that sidelined him for eight contests, but he should see an uptick in minutes going forward. The 32-year-old averaged 32.6 minutes this season prior to that injury, and he's nearing a return to his full workload.... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Scores 12 against Detroit
Hayward had 12 points (5-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 26 minutes during Friday's 118-112 loss to the Pistons. Unlike in Charlotte's most recent back-to-back, Hayward played in both games of this set, which is an indication that he's getting close to 100 percent. With the Hornets sitting in 14th place in the Eastern Conference, it's possible that Hayward could be involved in trade talks leading up to the deadline. A move away from Charlotte to a contender could see Hayward's usage take a hit.... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Perfect in 20-point performance
Hayward amassed 20 points (7-7 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds and two assists across 26 minutes during Sunday's 122-117 victory over the Heat. Hayward shot a perfect mark from the field, three-point range and the free-throw line in Sunday's win while finishing as one of three Hornets players to score 20 or more points. Hayward, who posted his highest point total since scoring 20 points Nov. 11, has scored at least 20 points on six occasions this year.... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Posts solid all-around showing
Hayward ended Thursday's 111-96 victory over the Bulls with 17 points (6-10 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 5-5 FT), one rebound, three assists, one block and two steals in 25 minutes. Hayward failed to knock down a shot from beyond the arc, but he managed to hit 60.0 percent of his attempts from inside the three-point line. The Hornets will likely continue to monitor Hayward closely to ensure he doesn't aggravate the hamstring injury that's forced him to miss nine of his squad's last 12 games. However, he seems to have escaped Thursday's clash without any setbacks.... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Good to go Thursday
Hayward (hamstring) will play in Thursday's game against Chicago. As usual, Hayward's status essentially has to be handled on a game-to-game basis, but he'll return to action Thursday after missing Tuesday's loss to the Suns. This will be the veteran's 13th appearance since Thanksgiving, having missed 18 games during that stretch. Over his last 12 contests, Hayward is posting 10.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.0 steals per game.... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Listed as questionable
Hayward (hamstring) is questionable for Thursday's matchup against the Bulls. Hayward sat out Tuesday's contest, the second night of a back-to-back set, to manage a left hamstring strain that already cost him eight games. On the surface, it looked like his absence was merely a rest day, and the veteran forward would be back in the mix against Chicago, but it appears the Hornets will take things one day at a time. Fantasy managers may have to wait until just before Thursday's 7:30 p.m. ET tipoff before getting Hayward's official availability for the contest.... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Out Tuesday
Hayward (hamstring) is out Tuesday against the Suns, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports. Hayward will take off the second night of the back-to-back set to manage his hamstring strain. He's appeared in two games since his return from an eight-game absence, but the Hornets will play it safe. In his absence, more minutes could be available for JT Thor, Bryce McGowens and Jalen McDaniels.... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Looks good in return Saturday
Hayward (hamstring) ended with nine points (4-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one steal in 25 minutes during Saturday's 122-118 win over Atlanta. Hayward was plugged back into the starting lineup in his return from an eight-game absences. Though he was on a minute restriction, Hayward still managed to put together a serviceable two-way performance. Now that he's healthy again, Hayward likely warrants at least a cursory pickup in every 12-team league where he's available, given that LaMelo Ball (ankle/wrist) sat out Saturday and could be at risk of missing additional games. Terry Rozier, P.J. Washington and Hayward will likely be the primary players tasked with shouldering Ball's scoring and playmaking responsibilities.... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Will play Saturday
Hayward (hamstring) will play Saturday against the Hawks, Sam Perley of the Hornets' official site reports. Hayward's return from an eight-game absence is good timing for the Hornets, who are down LaMelo Ball (ankle, wrist). Whether Hayward starts or comes off the bench, he should step into an increased playmaking role during the point guard's absence.... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Upgraded to probable
Hayward (hamstring) is likely to play in Saturday's game against Atlanta. Hayward is slated to return from an eight-game absence due to left hamstring soreness Saturday. His return comes at an opportune time for Charlotte, considering LaMelo Ball (ankle) and Cody Martin (knee) are doubtful and Kelly Oubre (hand) remains sidelined for the contest. Hayward's availability for action would likely deprive Jalen McDaniels and Bryce McGowens of some of their minutes. However, Hayward's minutes could be monitored following the lengthy layoff, so his workload may not initially eat too far into his teammates' opportunities.... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Not playing Wednesday
Hayward (hamstring) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Rockets, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports. Hayward's absence doesn't come as a surprise considering his doubtful tag, and he'll officially extend his streak of missed games to eight due to a lingering left hamstring injury. His leave has allowed for Jalen McDaniels to remain in the starting lineup and should open up more opportunities for Bryce McGowens and JT Thor on Wednesday. Hayward's next chance to suit up will come Saturday against the Hawks.... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Gordon Hayward: Doubtful to suit up Wednesday
Hayward (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Wednesday's game versus the Rockets. Hayward has consistently received a doubtful designation while subsequently sitting out the contest. There is no reason to believe that will change Wednesday, making Saturday in Atlanta his next opportunity to take the floor. Jalen McDaniels should draw another start in Hayward's absence, barring an upgrade in his status over the next 24 hours.... See More ... See Less
