Top JaVale McGee News

  • Kings' JaVale McGee: Decent output off bench in loss

McGee finished with 10 points (4-6 FG, 2-4 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and two blocks in 13 minutes during Monday's 129-93 loss to the Pelicans.

The Kings were woeful on offense Monday, and very few players stood out, though McGee was one of them after putting up solid numbers off the bench in limited minutes. Domantas Sabonis is firmly entrenched as the Kings' starting center, and the only reason McGee saw extended minutes in this game was due to the nature of the blowout contest. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect McGee to deliver these numbers regularly going forward.

  • Kings' JaVale McGee: Will join the Kings

McGee will sign a deal with the Kings, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

McGee was recently let go by the Mavericks, but the veteran still has plenty left in the tank going into his age-36 season. Minutes won't be easy to come by in Sacramento, however, as McGee will have to compete with Alex Len and Nerlens Noel for backup center minutes behind Domantas Sabonis.

  • JaVale McGee: On way out of Dallas

The Mavericks are expected to stretch-and-waive McGee on Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Per Keith Smith of Spotrac.com, McGee is owed approximately $11.7 million over the final two years of the three-year deal he signed with Dallas last offseason. To facilitate McGee's impending release, Dallas will stretch that amount over five years, meaning the center will make around $2.3 million annually through 2027-28. McGee appeared in 42 games (seven starts) last season and averaged just 4.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and a career-low 0.6 blocks in 8.5 minutes per contest. Once the transaction is completed, the 35-year-old will be free to entertain offers from other teams.
