Miller did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing one hit and one walk over four scoreless innings against the Giants. He struck out four. Miller finished the regular season strong, allowing just four runs over his final three starts (17 innings) while issuing just two walks and striking out 20 in that span. The 24-year-old right-hander will wrap up his rookie campaign with an 11-4 record, 3.76 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 119 strikeouts over 22 starts (124.1 innings). Miller has established himself as a fixture in the Dodgers' rotation -- he's currently slated to make his playoff debut in Game 2 of the divisional round against either Arizona or Milwaukee.... Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Tames Coors for 11th win
Miller (11-4) picked up the win in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rockies, giving up two runs on seven hits over seven innings in the Dodgers' 11-2 rout. He struck out nine without walking a batter. Making his first career appearance at Coors Field, Miller was unfazed by the hitter-friendly environment and carved up Colorado's lineup, generating 31 called or swinging strikes among his 91 pitches en route to a new career high in strikeouts. Miller has delivered three quality starts in five September outings, posting a 3.58 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 36:6 K:BB through 32.2 innings on the month to close the books on a strong rookie campaign, and he figures to be a key part of the Dodgers' postseason rotation.... Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Little help in loss
Miller (10-4) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out seven over six innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Tigers. Miller put in a sharp performance, but the Dodgers' offense didn't give him enough run support. This was his first loss in five starts, and he's gone at least six innings in seven of his last eight appearances. Miller is at a 3.97 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 106:31 K:BB through 113.1 innings over 20 starts this season. He's lined up for a road outing in Colorado for his next start.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Bobby Miller: One out shy of quality start
Miller (10-3) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven over 5.2 innings to earn the win over the Mariners on Friday. Miller came up an out short of a quality start, but he was still able to earn his fourth win in his last six starts. In that span, he's given up 18 runs over 38 innings. The rookie right-hander is at a 4.02 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 99:30 K:BB through 107.1 innings through 19 starts this season. Miller's projected for a favorable home start versus the Tigers next week.... Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Fans eight in no-decision
Miller came away with a no-decision Saturday in the Dodgers' 7-6 extra-innings loss to the Nationals, giving up five runs on six hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out eight. First pitch was delayed by over four hours due to rain, and Miller ended up delivering an erratic performance once the tarp was rolled back. The rookie right-hander set a new personal best for strikeouts in a start, generating 33 called or swinging strikes on 99 pitches, but he also gave up more than four runs for the first time since June 24. Miller also served up a homer for the fourth straight outing -- a two-run shot by Lane Thomas in the seventh inning -- and over that stretch he has a 4.78 ERA and 22:6 K:BB through 26.1 innings. Miller will look to get back on track in his next start, likely to come next weekend in Seattle.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Excellent against Atlanta
Miller (9-3) allowed a run on three hits and one walk while striking out five over seven innings to earn the win over Atlanta on Sunday. Miller had given up four runs in back-to-back starts, but he was able to put together a dominant outing against the best team in the majors. The rookie right-hander had not pitched more than 6.1 innings in any of his outings prior to Sunday. Miller is now at a 3.80 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 84:26 K:BB through 94.2 innings over 17 starts. He's projected to make his next start on the road versus the Nationals.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Dealt third loss Tuesday
Miller dropped to 7-3 in Tuesday's 8-3 loss to the Guardians after allowing four earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out five across 6.1 innings. Though the Dodgers staked Miller to an early 3-0 lead, the rookie couldn't hold up to his end of the bargain after holding the Guardians scoreless through three frames. He served up a solo home run and allowed another run in the fourth, then allowed consecutive runners to reach base with one out in the bottom of the seventh before he exited the contest. Reliever Caleb Ferguson ended up allowing both inherited runners to score, resulting in Miller being saddled with the loss. After the game, manager Dave Roberts told Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times that Miller won't be pitching in Sunday's series finale in Boston, as the Dodgers want to give the 24-year-old some extra rest coming off the 97-pitch outing. Miller will be denied a two-start week as a result, though he would line up for one the following week. He tentatively lines up to make his next turn Monday versus the Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Throws six shutout innings
Miller allowed four hits and four walks while striking out four over six shutout innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Miller was solid in this start after going 3.2 innings in his previous outing. The downside was that the four walks were a season high, though this was also his third scoreless outing and fifth quality start of the campaign. Miller is at a 3.89 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 66:21 K:BB through 69.1 innings over 13 starts. He appears likely to hold down the fifth start spot in the rotation going forward, with his next outing tentatively lined up to be at home versus the Brewers next week.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Inefficient Friday
Miller allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out three over 3.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Friday. Miller needed 82 pitches (49 strikes) to get 11 outs in an inefficient start. The right-hander has given up nine runs (eight earned) over 19.1 innings across his four appearances since the All-Star break. He's at a 4.26 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 62:17 K:BB through 63.1 innings across 12 starts overall. Miller is projected for a tough road start in Arizona next week, and he may be at risk of losing his place in the rotation if the Dodgers opt to put Ryan Yarbrough in his place in the coming weeks.... Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Surrenders three runs in loss
Miller (6-2) allowed three runs on six hits and struck out six without walking a batter over five innings, taking the loss Friday versus the Reds. The Reds did their damage in the first inning, which included Jake Fraley tagging Miller for a two-run home run. Miller appears to be mostly back on track, having allowed seven runs over his last 15.2 innings following a rough stretch in the latter half of June. The rookie right-hander has a 4.37 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 59:16 K:BB through 59.2 innings over 11 starts this season. He's tentatively projected for a road start versus the Padres next week, though that could change if the Dodgers continue to add starting pitching ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline. Miller likely has the upper hand on remaining in the rotation over Emmet Sheehan and Michael Grove, who have both struggled lately and will get one more audition each over the remainder of this weekend's series.... Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Cruises to sixth win
Miller (6-1) picked up the win in Saturday's 16-3 rout of the Rangers, giving up three runs on seven hits over six innings. He struck out six without walking a batter. Texas actually grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Miller and the Dodgers' offense each buckled down and got to work after that. The quality start was the first since June 10 for the rookie right-hander, but he's delivered four in his first 10 big-league outings. Miller will carry a 4.28 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 53:16 K:BB through 54.2 innings into his next start, likely to come at home next weekend against the Reds.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Managing right knee discomfort
Miller exited Sunday's game against the Mets due to right knee discomfort, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. Miller got into a jam in the fifth inning and exited with a trainer after tossing 4.2 innings. He said after the game that he was "all good" and said that he wanted to pitch through the issue. Given his postgame comments, it seems unlikely that the right-hander will be forced to miss any turns through the rotation, but he'll presumably be monitored by the team's medical staff in the coming days. Prior to his departure, he allowed a run on three hits and a walk while striking out five.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Yields four runs in win
Miller (5-1) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven over 5.2 innings to earn the win in Wednesday's 6-4 vicotry over the Pirates. All four runs against him came on home runs by Bryan Reynolds and Jack Suwinski. The Dodgers then proceeded to score six times over the fourth and fifth innings, allowing Miller to emerge with his second straight win despite not having his sharpest stuff. The right-hander has given up seven runs over 11.1 innings across his last two outings. He's at a 4.50 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 42:15 K:BB through 44 innings over eight starts. Miller has likely done well enough to stick in the Dodgers' rotation following the All-Star break.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Keeps rolling in second start
Miller (2-0) earned the win Monday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over six innings in a 6-1 victory over the Nationals. He struck out four. Miller now has two consecutive quality starts to begin his big-league career. The 29th overall pick in the 2020 Draft has allowed just two runs over 11 total innings and boasts a 9:2 K:BB. The right-hander is tentatively slated to face the Yankees at home in his next start.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Promoted for debut
The Dodgers promoted Miller from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday for his start against Atlanta, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. The 24-year-old righty has made four starts for Oklahoma City this season, recording a 5.65 ERA and 1.21 WHIP through 14.1 innings. While his numbers might not exactly jump off the page, he's demonstrated a knack for striking out batters at a plus rate, logging a 10.1 K/9 throughout his Triple-A career. To make room for Miller on the Dodgers' roster, Tyler Cyr (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list, and Dustin May (forearm) was transferred to the 60-day IL.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Big-league debut coming Tuesday
The Dodgers will promote Miller from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start Tuesday against Atlanta, Russell Dorsey of Bally Sports reports. The right-hander is one of Los Angeles' top prospects and will make his MLB debut this week with Julio Urias (hamstring) and Dustin May (forearm) both landing on the injured list within the past few days. Miller has a 5.65 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 12:6 K:BB across 14.1 innings at Triple-A after missing the first few weeks of the season with shoulder soreness, though he pitched well in his last start with just one run allowed and six strikeouts across six frames.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Dealing with shoulder soreness
Miller will be sidelined to start the minor-league season due to mild shoulder soreness, MLB.com reports. Miller is in line to make his MLB debut this season if he can pitch well at Triple-A and stay healthy, but he's already dealing with a shoulder issue to start the season. After a dominant spring training on the heels of a spectacular 2022 season, Gavin Stone is the more likely premium Dodgers pitching prospect to join the big-league rotation this summer.... Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Reassigned to minor-league camp
Miller was reassigned Monday to minor-league camp by the Dodgers. Miller is one of the top pitching prospects in the system and has a chance to make starts for the Dodgers in 2023. The right-hander registered a 145:37 K:BB along with a 4.25 ERA in 112.1 innings across 24 appearances -- 23 starts -- between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City last season.... See More ... Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Fans 14 in Triple-A game
Miller took the loss for Triple-A Oklahoma City against Round Rock on Thursday, but he struck out 14 batters while allowing two runs on two hits and a walk over six innings. Miller was electric in the outing, recording a professional career high with 14 punchouts. He finished the start with eight consecutive strikeouts but got no offensive support and was saddled with the loss. Miller has been impressive through three Triple-A appearances, posting a 3.38 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 24:3 K:BB over 18.2 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Strong Double-A peripherals
Miller has a 4.38 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 40:11 K:BB through nine starts (37 innings) for Double-A Tulsa. He's suffered from some bad luck, as Miller's FIP sits at a friendlier 3.37. The 23-year-old has done a good job missing bats and keeping the ball on the ground, and he has a workhorse's build at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds. The Dodgers have been taking the training wheels off him recently, as his last two outings have been his two longest of the year (six and 5.2 innings, respectively). Having impressed in spring training and now in the minors, he's on the radar for a call-up to the big leagues, but that's still probably a little ways off, as he's not yet on the 40-man roster and the Dodgers don't currently have any rotation openings....
