Marlins' Michael Petersen: Suffers hamstring injury Sunday
Petersen was lifted midway through the fifth inning of Sunday's game against the Guardians due to a right hamstring injury, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
The Marlins treated their final game before the All-Star break as a bullpen day, with Tyler Phillips starting and covering the opening frame before Petersen became the third reliever summoned into the contest. After entering with two outs in the top of the fourth, Petersen induced a Travis Bazzana popout to close out the inning. Petersen stayed in the game to begin the fifth and allowed a leadoff home run to Brayan Rocchio, then recorded two outs before exiting the contest after surrendering a base hit to Kahlil Watson. The right-hander may have tweaked the hamstring at some point during the matchup with Watson, but it's not yet known if the injury is severe enough to keep the reliever out following the All-Star break.

Marlins' Heriberto Hernandez: Reclaims regular spot in lineup
Hernandez will start in left field and bat second in Sunday's game against the Guardians.
The Marlins will keep Hernandez in the starting nine for a fifth straight game after he went 3-for-13 with a solo home run, two doubles and two walks over his previous four starts. The 26-year-old should get the chance to hold down an everyday role between the corner outfield and designated hitter while Owen Caissie (calf) is on the shelf.

Marlins' Jakob Marsee: Getting break against LHP
Marsee is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.
Marsee will join fellow left-handed hitters Griffin Conine, Kyle Stowers and Joe Mack on the bench for the series finale while southpaw Joey Cantillo toes the rubber for Cleveland. Miami will go with a starting outfield of Heriberto Hernandez, Esteury Ruiz and Javier Sanoja from left to right Sunday.

Conine is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.
Conine will join fellow left-handed hitters Jakob Marsee, Kyle Stowers and Joe Mack on the bench for the series finale while southpaw Joey Cantillo toes the rubber for Cleveland. Miami will go with a starting outfield of Heriberto Hernandez, Esteury Ruiz and Javier Sanoja from left to right Sunday.

Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Resting against lefty
Stowers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.
Stowers will join fellow left-handed hitters Jakob Marsee, Griffin Conine and Joe Mack on the bench for the series finale while southpaw Joey Cantillo toes the rubber for Cleveland. Liam Hicks will take Stowers' spot at first base and bat third.

Marlins' Joe Mack: Idle Sunday
Mack is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.
The Marlins will give Mack a breather after he started behind the plate in the first two contests of the series. Brian Navarreto will fill in at catcher and will form a battery with starting pitcher Tyler Phillips.

Marlins' William Kempner: Out with elbow sprain
The Marlins placed Kempner on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a right elbow sprain.
Kempner was called upon to pitch Thursday against Seattle and Saturday versus Cleveland and struggled in both games, allowing four runs on five hits with three strikeouts and two walks over 2.1 innings. He'll now be sidelined until at least July 27.

Marlins' Dax Fulton: Back in majors
The Marlins recalled Fulton from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday.
The left-hander was sent to Jacksonville in late June but will get another look in the big-league bullpen after William Kempner (elbow) was placed on the injured list. Fulton has pitched well in his three MLB appearances, allowing two earned runs with a 6:3 K:BB across seven innings. He could be called upon to cover multiple innings out of the bullpen Sunday, as starter Tyler Phillips will be taking the hill on three days' rest and is expected to operate with a more limited pitch count than usual.

Marlins' Eury Perez: Takes loss despite quality start
Perez (5-7) took the loss against the Guardians on Saturday, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out six across six innings.
The eight hits Perez allowed matched a career high that he set in September of 2025, but he limited the damage to a two-run double from Steven Kwan in the fourth inning. Perez generated 14 whiffs while tossing 69 strikes on 99 pitches, and despite the quality start, he did not get enough run support from his Marlins teammates to avoid the loss. The 23-year-old right-hander enters the All-Star break with a 3.78 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 95:34 K:BB across 85.2 innings.

Marlins' Liam Hicks: Drives in Miami's lone run Saturday
Hicks went 2-for-3 with an RBI single and a steal during the Marlins' 4-1 loss to the Guardians on Saturday.
Hicks was responsible for the Marlins' only run Saturday, with his single in the seventh inning bringing Joe Mack home. Hicks also picked up his second steal of the season and the fourth of his major-league career. He has gone 21-for-63 (.333) with seven RBI and 11 runs scored over his last 15 games.

Marlins' Tyler Phillips: Starting on short rest
Phillips will start Sunday's series finale against the Guardians, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Phillips last pitched Wednesday against the Mariners, but the Marlins are expected to heavily rely on their bullpen for Sunday's contest, so the veteran right-hander will take the hill on three days' rest and presumably operate with a limited pitch count. Phillips has recorded a 3.28 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 55:34 K:BB across 74 innings this season.

Marlins' Wessley Roberson: Snagged in fourth round
The Marlins selected Roberson with the No. 115 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
Roberson had hamstring and back injuries this spring but is a twitchy athlete with plus speed and a plus arm. A prep outfielder from Georgia, Roberson has impressive contact ability and his athleticism and speed make him a name to follow in dynasty.

Marlins' Cam Kozeal: Selected by Miami
The Marlins selected Kozeal with the No. 87 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
Kozeal went undrafted out of high school and started his collegiate career at Vanderbilt before transferring to Arkansas. He flourished with the Razorbacks and posted a .318/.410/.653 slash line and 20 homers in 62 games during the 2026 season. He has decent pop but isn't likely to offer much upside on the basepaths.

Marlins' Ryan Peterson: Going to Miami
The Marlins selected Peterson with the No. 71 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
A 6-foot-3, 215-pound righty from Sam Houston, Peterson has a flat approach angle on his fastball and also excels at spinning the ball, giving the Marlins a lot to work with. He is also known as a strike thrower and is a candidate to add velocity in pro ball.

Marlins' Ethan Kleinschmit: Selected by Marlins
The Marlins selected Kleinschmit with the No. 52 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
The 21-year-old left-hander spent a year in junior college before pitching at Oregon State the past two seasons. Kleinschmit has a lot of movement on a fastball that can touch the mid-90s with good feel for his slider and changeup, and his arsenal could improve with some added strength.

Marlins' Jacob Lombard: Stays home with Fish
The Marlins selected Lombard with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
The younger brother of George Lombard Jr. and son of former big leaguer and current Tigers bench coach George Lombard, Jacob has a chance to be the best big leaguer in the family thanks to a well-rounded skill set and excellent shortstop defense. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound prep product from Miami has flashed plus raw power and plus-plus speed, so there's a lot to dream on in fantasy. He struck out more than expected on the 2025 showcase circuit and slid down boards as a result. If he reaches his ceiling, Lombard could be the best player in this class, and even if he falls short, he should still provide power and speed while playing shortstop every day.
