William Dufour: Signs with KHL club
Dufour signed a one-year contract with the KHL's HC Lada on Wednesday, per Stefen Rosner of The Hockey News.
Dufour had nine goals and 22 points in 57 regular-season AHL appearances between Bridgeport and Colorado in 2024-25. The Avalanche acquired him from the Islanders on March 6, but Colorado decided against presenting him with a qualifying offer, which made him an unrestricted free agent this summer. Dufour recorded one hit and a minus-2 rating in 6:48 of ice time in his debut with the Islanders during the 2022-23 campaign, but that remains the lone NHL appearance on his resume.

William Dufour: Let go by Avs
Dufour was not given a qualifying offer and will be an unrestricted free agent Tuesday, Brennan Vogt of Hockey Mountain High reports.
Dufour's lone NHL appearance came back during the 2022-23 campaign, when he was with the Islanders. In his limited time with AHL Colorado this year, the 23-year-old winger notched one goal and three assists in 12 regular-season contests. At this point, the best Dufour can likely hope for is a two-way deal somewhere, but more likely he'll have to accept a minor-league-only deal if he wants to keep playing.

Islanders' William Dufour: Returned to minors
Dufour was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Thursday, Stefen Rosner of NYI Hockey Now reports.
Dufour logged just 6:48 of ice time in his NHL debut against Boston on Wednesday, so his demotion to the minors shouldn't come as a surprise. With Bridgeport, the 20-year-old winger has put his offensive upside on full displaying, notching 13 goals and 12 assists in 37 games. If he continues to produce at that level, this likely won't be Dufour's final stint in the NHL this year.

Islanders' William Dufour: Impressive in camp
Dufour has impressed the coaching staff with his size and his shot, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Dufour is 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, and he isn't shy about throwing his big body around. Dufour also possesses a hard and heavy shot. While Dufour's future is bright, GM Lou Lamoriello stated before camp began that he doesn't believe Dufour is ready to jump from junior hockey to the NHL. The Islanders also have quite a few offensive players with hefty contracts that are blocking younger prospects.
