  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Activated from LTIR

The Bruins activated Grzelcyk (upper body) from long-term injured reserve Saturday. Grzelcyk, who hasn't played since Oct. 30, appears to be good to go for Saturday's tilt against the Rangers. The 29-year-old defenseman has one goal, 12 shots on net and 12 blocked shots in nine appearances this season.

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Practicing Friday

Grzelcyk (upper body) returned to practice Friday and is expected to return to game action Nov. 25 versus the Rangers, per Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald. Grzelcyk was injured Oct. 30 and placed on long-term injured reserve two days later. He has a goal on 12 shots in nine games with the Bruins this season.

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Inching closer to return

Grzelcyk (upper body) is on track to play Nov. 25 versus the Rangers, coach Jim Montgomery told Conor Ryan of Boston.com on Wednesday. Grzelcyk hasn't played since Oct. 30 because of the injury and is currently on long-term injured reserve. He has a goal in nine contests this season. When Grzelcyk is ready to return, it will likely be as a member of the third pairing.

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Moves to LTIR

Grzelcyk (upper body) was moved to long-term injured reserve Wednesday. Grzelcyk was previously expected to miss multiple weeks, so his placement on LTIR shouldn't come as a surprise. With Charlie McAvoy (suspension) also out the next four games, the Bruins called up Mason Lohrei and Parker Wotherspoon to help bolster the blue line. As a result, Hampus Lindholm should see a significant uptick in ice time, including with the man advantage. For his part, Grzelcyk has managed just one goal on 12 shots in nine appearances while averaging a career-low 15:15 of ice time.

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Expected to miss time

Grzelyck (upper body) could miss multiple weeks, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. Grzelyck was injured Monday against Florida, and it's not a great sign that head coach Jim Montgomery is already expecting him to miss extended time. Grzelyck will likely undergo further testing Tuesday to get a better look at his timeline. The Bruins will need to promote some reinforcements to fill in on the blue line, as they currently don't have a seventh defenseman on the roster.

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Exits Monday's game

Grzelyck left Monday's contest against Florida with an upper-body injury and will not return. Grzelyck posted a minus-1 rating in 3:29 of ice time before the injury knocked him out of the game. The 29-year-old has recorded just one point through nine games this season. An update on his status should be available before Thursday's matchup with Toronto.

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Scores goal in loss

Grzelcyk scored a goal on three shots in Thursday's 4-3 defeat to Anaheim. Grzelcyk scored his first goal of the season in what ended up being the Bruins' first loss of the campaign as well. Over the course of his seven-year NHL career, the 29-year-old blueliner has never topped more than five goals in a year, so fantasy players probably shouldn't be expecting him to put the puck in the net with any sort of consistency.

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Two-point effort Sunday

Grzelcyk scored a goal and an assist in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Red Wings. He got the Bruins on the board late in the second period, but they were already staring at a 4-0 deficit at that point. It's the 29-year-old blueliner's first multi-point performance since Jan. 16 and he has only four goals and 23 points on the season, but with Hampus Lindholm (foot) sidelined Sunday, Grzelcyk found himself working the point on Boston's first power-play unit. Lindholm is expected to return Tuesday, but if he misses additional time, Grzelcyk would have some short-term fantasy appeal.

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Produces helper in win

Grzelcyk logged an assist, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Maple Leafs. Grzelcyk has shown a little more talent on offense lately with two goals, eight assists and a plus-17 rating over his last 15 contests. The 29-year-old defenseman is up to 19 points, a plus-31 rating, 64 shots on net, 62 blocked shots and 22 PIM through 47 outings overall. He'll continue to log top-four minutes, and he should be on the fantasy radar if he can retain his newfound scoring touch following the All-Star break.

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Records goal, assist in win

Grzelcyk scored a goal on two shots and notched an assist versus the Flyers on Monday. Grzelcyk has racked up five points in his last four contests, including a pair of multi-point outings. The defenseman sees minimal usage with the man advantage, so he'll need to continue producing at even strength. Still, Grzelcyk figures to be a near-lock to reach the 20-point threshold for the fourth straight season and could top last year's career-best performance (24 points).

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Records pair of assists in win

Grzelcyk registered two assists, two shots on goal and a plus-3 rating in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Ducks. Grzelcyk set up David Pastrnak's hat-trick-clinching goal in the second period as well as a Charlie Coyle insurance marker in the third. This was Grzelcyk's first multi-point effort of the season -- he's often played more of a defensive role in the top four. The blueliner has a goal, 11 assists, 52 shots on net, 47 blocked shots and a plus-21 rating through 36 outings.

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Strong effort Thursday

Grzelcyk recorded an assist Thursday, but the Bruins took a 3-2 shootout loss to the visiting Kings. Grzelcyk was the primary distributor on Taylor Hall's second-period goal. The B's would end up squandering a 2-0 lead, but the third-pairing defenseman turned in an efficient performance, as he also managed a plus-1 rating to go with a pair of blocked shots and three shots on goal.

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Pots game-winner Friday

Grzelcyk scored the game-winning goal in Friday's 4-0 win over the Blue Jackets. The blueliner made his first tally of the year count, as Grzelcyk picked up the puck at the point, drifted down into the faceoff circle and wired a shot into the top corner over Elvis Merzlikins. Grzelcyk has found the scoresheet in four of five games since making his belated season debut, but his other three points were all helpers.

Grzelcyk (shoulder) participated in a full practice Friday, according to Bruins beat writer Joe Haggerty. Grzelcyk was able to partake in a full practice, including contact, for the first time since undergoing shoulder surgery June 3. The defenseman had four goals and 24 points in 73 games last season. • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Could return early

Grzelcyk (shoulder) is making strides in his recovery and is "slightly" ahead of schedule according to coach Jim Montgomery, Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald reports Monday. Grzelcyk was originally expected to be ready in early November, so he may be ready to play in late October given his updated recovery timeline. Whenever the 28-year-old defenseman is ready to play, he should be in the mix for some power-play minutes despite registering just five points in that role last season.

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Undergoes successful surgery

Grzelyck had surgery on his shoulder Friday and is expected to miss the next five months. It was announced that Grzelyck would undergo surgery this offseason and now he's officially expected to be out until roughly early November. Three different Bruins defensemen went under the knife Friday, so the team's blue line figures to be fairly thin to begin next season.

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Needs shoulder surgery

Grzelcyk will undergo shoulder surgery and is expected to miss the start of the 2022-23 campaign, Amalie Benjamin of NHL.com reports. Grzelcyk doesn't have a set timetable and he likely won't until closer to training camp. The 28-year-old posted a minus-6 rating through five games this postseason before missing the final two contests. He averaged 18:44 of ice time while adding 24 points in 73 games during the regular season.

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Remains out Saturday

Grzelcyk (undisclosed) will miss Saturday's Game 7 against Carolina, Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic reports. Grzelcyk played the first five games of the series -- going scoreless while averaging 18:09 of ice time -- but sat out Game 6 with his undisclosed injury. If the Bruins advance past Carolina to Round 2, it's unclear when the 28-year-old blueliner might be able to return.

  • Bruins' Matt Grzelcyk: Won't play in Game 6

Grzelcyk (undisclosed) won't play in Thursday's Game 6 against the Hurricanes, Matt Porter of The Boston Globe reports. Grzelcyk has evidently been "playing through stuff," so he'll sit Thursday's potential elimination game out. If the Bruins aren't able to force a Game 7, Grzelcyk will finish the year having collected 24 points through 73 regular-season contests and zero points through five postseason appearances.
