Subban posted a 20-14-5 record with a 2.94 GAA and a .903 save percentage in 39 games with AHL Rochester last season. Assuming he isn't claimed, the 29-year-old netminder will report to AHL Springfield. As expected, Joel Hofer will enter the 2023-24 campaign as the Blues' backup goalie behind Jordan Binnington.

Subban went 20-14-5 with a 2.94 GAA and a .903 save percentage in 39 regular-season appearances with AHL Rochester last season. He also posted a mark of 8-6 with a 2.56 GAA and a .916 save percentage during the 2023 Calder Cup Playoffs. Subban will probably spend most, if not all of the 2023-24 campaign in the minors.

Subban surrendered four goals on 32 shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Islanders.
Buffalo actually finished with a 37-32 edge in shots, but Semyon Varlamov stood tall in New York's net, while Subban failed to do the same for the Sabres. Subban made 45 saves in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Penguins.
The 27-year-old was the main reason the Sabres even got a point out of this one, as Subban was fantastic over the final part of regulation after the Pens had grabbed a 2-0 lead early in the second period before Jeff Carter was finally able to get another puck past him in OT. Subban has taken a back seat to rookie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen since joining Buffalo in early December largely due to a lower-body injury suffered in his first appearance for the club, but performances like this could earn him more playing time now that he's healthy.

Subban has played in just one game at the top level this year, allowing a whopping six goals on 25 shots in a 6-2 loss to Carolina on Dec. 4. He hasn't been great with AHL Rockford this season, either, going 2-2-1 with a 3.38 GAA and .893 save percentage. As such, Subban likely makes for a risky crease play Friday.
