  • Texans' Nico Collins: Won't be back Sunday

Collins (hamstring) won't return to Sunday's game against the Bills. Collins thus finishes up the day with two catches for 78 yards and a TD. In his absence, Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell are in line to lead the Texans' WR corps versus Buffalo, with Robert Woods, Xavier Hutchinson and John Metchie also in the mix.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Injures hamstring Sunday

Collins exited Sunday's game against the Bills with a hamstring injury. Prior to that, Collins caught both of his targets for 78 yards and a TD. In his absence, Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell are slated to lead the Texans' Week 5 WR corps, with Robert Woods, Xavier Hutchinson and John Metchie available to mix in.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Top DFS Play

Collins has simply been the best wide receiver in football this season. His ability to earn targets downfield, catch them at a high rate, and produce YAC afterwards is nearly unparalleled. The Bills have been very good against wide receivers early in this season, but it's hard to imagine anyone shutting down Collins the way he's playing.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Career day in Sunday's win

Collins caught 12 of 15 targets for 151 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-20 win over the Jaguars. The dozen receptions were a career high for Collins, while his season-high yardage marked the fourth time in 19 career games with C.J. Stroud as his QB that he's topped 150 yards. Collins has hit triple-digit yardage three times in four contests to begin the current campaign, and his 30-489-2 line on 43 targets makes him the first player in Texans history to amass at least 450 yards in the first four games of a season. Collins and the Houston passing game face a tough test in Week 5 against Buffalo.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Clear for Week 4

Collins (hamstring) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game versus the Jaguars. The Texans tacked on Collins to their Week 4 practice report Thursday as limited due to a hamstring injury, which occasionally is a worrisome sign for upcoming availability. The fourth-year wide receiver put any questions about his status to rest earlier Friday, telling Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, "Oh, absolutely," when asked about his ability to play Sunday. Collins also logged a full practice Friday, so he'll look to build upon his NFL-leading 338 receiving yards this weekend against a Jacksonville defense that has given up 8.95 YPT this season (10th worst in the league).

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Practicing Friday

Collins (hamstring) was present for practice Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Collins was added to the Texans' Week 4 injury report after being limited Thursday, but his presence for Friday's practice is a positive sign in terms of his availability for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. The team's upcoming injury report will reveal whether Collins heads into the weekend with an injury designation or fully cleared to face Jacksonville.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Added to injury report

Collins (hamstring) was limited at practice Thursday. Collins practiced fully Wednesday, so his appearance on the Texans' injury report a day later is notable. Friday's final report will add further context regarding the wideout's availability ahead of Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Meanwhile, fellow WR Tank Dell (chest) logged his second straight DNP on Thursday, which clouds his Week 4 status.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Back at practice

Collins (hip/foot) returned to practice Thursday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports. Collins was held out of Wednesday's session, but his return to the field a day later bodes well for his availability for Sunday's game against the Vikings. The Texans' upcoming injury report will provide added context on that front by revealing the wideout's participation level Thursday.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Has 252 yards through two games

Collins caught eight of 10 targets for 135 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 19-13 win over the Bears. Collins once again easily led the team in receiving yards, finishing with 98 more yards than second-place Stefon Diggs after topping second-place Tank Dell by 77 receiving yards in Week 1. Collins' hefty yardage total included a 28-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. After racking up 1,297 receiving yards in a breakout 2023 regular season, Collins has been the favorite target for quarterback C.J. Stroud early in 2024, with 252 receiving yards heading into Week 3 against the Vikings.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Limited Thursday by illness

Collins was a limited participant at practice Thursday due to an illness. Collins practiced without any restrictions Wednesday, but he was added to the Texans' Week 2 injury report one day later. As a result, the wideout's status is now worth monitoring ahead of Sunday's game against the Bears. Added context regarding Collins' availability will arrive when the Texans post their final injury report of the week Friday.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Tops 100 yards in opener

Collins caught six of eight targets for 117 yards in Sunday's 29-27 win over the Colts. The fourth-year wideout immediately re-established his chemistry with C.J. Stroud, topping 100 yards to open 2024 after doing so five times last season en route to a 1,297-yard breakout. While Collins led the Texans in receiving yards and targets, newcomer Stefon Diggs caught two red-zone TDs from Stroud and tied Collins for the team lead with six catches, giving secondaries another serious threat to worry about. Collins will look to keep rolling in a Week 2 matchup against the Bears.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Not expected to suit up Saturday

Collins is among a number of Texans wideouts not dressed for Saturday's preseason contest versus the Rams, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Also expected to be held out of the contest are Stefon Diggs, Tank Dell and Robert Woods. Those four are at the head of the wide receiver depth chart for the Texans, so the team appears to be have made the decision to keep its top players out of the exhibition finale. John Metchie III, Ben Skowronek, Xavier Hutchinson and Steven Sims, among others, will get a chance to shine as Houston's pass catchers Saturday.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Inks three-year extension

Collins agreed to terms Tuesday on a three-year, $72.75 million contract extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Collins is coming off a breakout 2023 season in which he piled up a 80-1,297-8 receiving line on 109 targets (15 games), and even with Stefon Diggs in town on a one-year deal, Collins represents the future for Houston's wide receiver corps, as does second-year pro Tank Dell. While the addition of Diggs crowds the Texans' target distribution, as does the presence of capable pass-catching options like Joe Mixon in the backfield and tight end Dalton Schultz, this significant monetary commitment to Collins provides a bit of extra incentive for offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik to allow Collins and C.J. Stroud to feature the chemistry they demonstrated last season. If Stroud and the Texans can build off 2023 and hit the ground running, Collins should find himself as a frontman in one of the league's elite passing offenses.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Picks up 68 yards

Collins recorded five receptions on 10 targets for 68 yards in Saturday's 34-10 loss to the Ravens. Collins was a significant part of the Texans' passing attack as expected, but the team had a tough time moving the ball consistently. That limited Collins' output, though he still managed a 29-yard catch that was the highlight of his day and helped set up a field-goal attempt just before halftime. Though it wasn't the way he would have wanted to end his season, Collins turned in an impressive breakout campaign in which he set career highs in receptions (80), yards (1,297) and touchdowns (eight) across 15 regular-season games.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Torches Colts' secondary

Collins recorded nine catches on nine targets for 195 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 23-19 win over the Colts. With both Noah Brown (back) and Robert Woods (hip) inactive, Collins was left as the Texans' clear top pass catcher. He certainly took advantage, recording three catches of more than 20 yards -- the longest of which was a 75-yard touchdown on Houstons' first play from scrimmage. The performance marked Collins' third game with over 160 receiving yards in what has been a breakout campaign, and he'll conclude the regular season with 1,297 yards despite missing two contests.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: WRs to Start

One of Collins' best games this season was in Week 2 against the Colts when he scored 27.6 PPR points with seven catches for 146 yards and a touchdown on nine targets. He's been much better at home this season (at least 12 PPR points in each game in Houston) than on the road (only one game with double digits in PPR points in Week 1 at Baltimore), but he also missed road outings at Cincinnati in Week 10 and at Tennessee in Week 15. Without Tank Dell (leg), C.J. Stroud will be locked in on Collins in this matchup with Indianapolis, and three receivers in the past five games against the Colts have scored at least 16.2 PPR points.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Makes seven catches

Collins recorded seven receptions on eight targets for 80 yards in Sunday's 26-3 win over the Titans. He added one rush for seven yards. Collins was one of the few Texans' pass catchers to remain healthy throughout the game, as the team lost both Robert Woods (hip) and Noah Brown (hip) during Sunday's win. As a result, Collins saw plenty of work, though game script ultimately limited him to only two targets across the final two quarters of the contest. Houston will be in for a key matchup against the Jaguars in Week 18, and Collins could be relied upon very heavily depending on the health of Brown and Woods.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Logs full practice

Collins (calf) was a full practice participant Thursday. Collins opened Week 17 prep Wednesday as a limited participant, but after getting in a full practice a day later, he should be in the clear for Sunday's game against the Titans. In his return from a one-game absence due to a calf strain in this past Sunday's 36-22 loss to the Browns, Collins played just 35 of 75 offensive snaps (47 percent) and finished with four catches for 18 yards and a touchdown on six targets. With the calf issue now further in the rear-view mirror, Collins should be ready to take on a more bountiful snap count this weekend, and he'll be further aided by the expected return from a two-game absence of quarterback C.J. Stroud (concussion), who was a full participant Thursday.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Start Him (Lineup Decisions)

I've had a change of sentiment on Collins. I was reminded by SportsLine Fantasy analyst Jacob Gibbs that when he and C.J. Stroud are on the field together without Tank Dell, Collins has landed roughly a 34% target share. The only way Collins doesn't get that kind of good target volume is if his calf injury limits him like it did last week when he played 47% of the team's snaps and ran a route on just 45.3% of his quarterbacks' dropbacks. If that happens, then he's going to struggle, but in his second week back he should play more. There's an obvious upgrade in the throws he'll get from C.J. Stroud, and the matchup is particularly good. Outside receivers against the Titans have accounted for 9 of the 17 touchdowns this season and the cornerbacks Collins will line up against have not graded out well; one specifically, Tre Avery, has allowed six touchdowns this season. I've moved Collins into WR2 range.

  • Texans' Nico Collins: Limited in practice

Collins (calf) was a limited practice participant Wednesday. Collins returned from a one-game absence due to a strained calf in this past Sunday's 36-22 loss to Cleveland, scoring a touchdown in garbage time but finishing with his worst marks of the season in terms of snap share (47 percent) and yardage (18), apart from the Week 14 contest in which he injured the calf on Houston's opening drive. The wideout previously had taken at least 62 percent of Houston's snaps in every other appearance, with he and Tank Dell (lower leg) serving as quarterback C.J. Stroud's top targets for most of the season. Collins is the unquestioned top target with Dell now out for the season, and there's a good chance he'll get Stroud back in the lineup for Sunday's game against Tennessee, as the quarterback is currently in the fourth stage of the five-step concussion protocol, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston. The arrow is pointing up for Collins, but fantasy managers will feel better about his prospects if he manages a full practice Thursday or Friday and/or avoids a game designation on the final Week 17 injury report. If he remains limited in practice throughout the week and is listed as questionable, there will be at least some level of concern about his workload being scaled back again.
