Top Darrell Henderson Jr. News

  • Darrell Henderson: Working out in Indianapolis

The Colts worked out Henderson on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

It's an interesting development with Jonathan Taylor (ankle), Zack Moss (forearm) and Evan Hull (knee) all dealing with injuries. Henderson has managed a respectable 4.4 yards per carry in his career, so it would be understandable if Indianapolis viewed him as a worthwhile addition.

  • Darrell Henderson: Checks in with Patriots

Henderson worked out for the Patriots on Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The Patriots also worked out Leonard Fournette, who offers a much different set of skills in the backfield. Henderson is small and quick, but he caught only 66 passes in four seasons with the Rams and was instead much more involved as a runner (396 carries for 1,742 yards and 13 touchdowns). The Rams waived him last November and the Jaguars waived him less than three weeks later, so Henderson isn't likely to get much guaranteed money even if he signs with an back-needy team before his 26th birthday in mid-August.

  • Darrell Henderson: Checks in with Cardinals

Henderson made a visit with the Cardinals on Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Henderson is in search of his third team of the season, after having now been cut by both the Rams and the Jaguars. He could be a decent fit in Arizona, given the team's lack of established depth behind top back James Conner, who has handled offensive snap shares north of 90 percent in four of the past five games and could be in line for more rest over the final three weeks of the season now that the Cardinals have been eliminated from playoff contention. If Henderson lands with the Cardinals, he would be vying with rookie Keaontay Ingram and veteran Corey Clement for work behind Conner.

  • Darrell Henderson: Back on waiver wire

The Jaguars waived Henderson on Friday.

Jacksonville scooped Henderson off the waiver wire after the Rams cut him in November, but he ultimately didn't play a single snap during his tenure with the Jaguars. The rest of the league will now have an opportunity to get a look at the 25-year-old running back over the final quarter of the season.

  • Jaguars' Darrell Henderson: Not on injury report

Henderson (illness) isn't listed Wednesday on the Jaguars' first Week 14 injury report.

Henderson was inactive for this past Sunday's loss to the Lions, but he's now past the illness that had him listed as questionable ahead of the Week 13 contest. The running back is thus on track to make his Jaguars debut this weekend against the Titans, though it's unclear if Henderson will immediately unseat JaMycal Hasty for the top backup role behind lead option Travis Etienne.

  • Jaguars' Darrell Henderson: Inactive Sunday

Henderson (illness) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Lions.

The 25-year-old received the questionable tag after he was absent from Friday's practice due to an illness, and he won't be suiting up for Sunday's contest. Henderson may have been inactive regardless of the ailment since Travis Etienne (foot) is available. JaMycal Hasty and Snoop Conner will operate as Jacksonville's backup tailbacks.

  • Jaguars' Darrell Henderson: Misses practice, listed as questionable

Henderson is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions after missing practice Friday due to an illness.

Fellow running back Travis Etienne (foot) is also listed as questionable, but trending toward active status after logging limited practices this week. Per Demetrius Harvey of the Florida Times-Union, coach Dog Pederson indicated that Henderson would likely be inactive on game day if Etienne is available, as the newcomer "continues to grow and learn the (Jaguars') offense." With that in mind, JaMycal Hasty and Snoop Conner figure to handle change-of-pace duties Sunday, assuming Etienne suits up versus Detroit.

  • Jaguars' Darrell Henderson: Not suiting up Sunday

Henderson (coach's decision) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Ravens.

The 25-year-old was claimed off waivers from the Rams on Wednesday, but he won't suit up for the Jags after spending only a couple days with the team. Henderson should serve as the top backup to Travis Etienne once he's learned the offense, but JaMycal Hasty will remain in that role Sunday.

  • Jaguars' Darrell Henderson: Not expected to play Sunday

Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said Friday that Henderson isn't in line to play Sunday against the Ravens, John Shipley of reports.

The running back is still in the process of learning Jacksonville's offense, so he doesn't look like he'll debut with his new team until Week 13 against the Lions. On the plus side, Henderson, who dealt with a knee issue Week 11 before being waived by the Rams and claimed by the Jaguars -- doesn't appear on Jacksonville's injury report this week. Once he's up to speed with the playbook, Henderson should carve out a key complementary role behind top back Travis Etienne.

  • Jaguars' Darrell Henderson: Claimed by Jags

The Jaguars claimed Henderson (knee) off waivers from the Rams on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Henderson, who was leading the Rams with 283 rushing yards through 10 games, was waived Tuesday, but he's quickly found a new landing spot. Per Sarah Barshop of, the running back dealt with a knee issue in Week 11, but by Monday he reportedly felt fine. Once Henderson is up to speed with the Jaguars' playbook, he'll likely carve out a complementary role behind clear-cut top back Travis Etienne.

  • Darrell Henderson: Cut loose by Rams

The Rams waived Henderson (knee) on Tuesday.

One day removed from coach Sean McVay explaining away Henderson's lack of usage during Sunday's loss at New Orleans as the product of a knee issue, the Rams may be moving on from the fourth-year pro. There's a chance this is simply a procedural move and the team will re-sign Henderson to the practice squad if he clears waivers, but any team can claim him by Wednesday's deadline, so he could find himself with a different organization in the near future.
