Collin Johnson: Won't make team
Johnson was waived by the Giants on Sunday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Johnson missed time during training camp with a knee injury, which likely didn't help the Texas product's chances. The 25-year-old missed the 2022 campaign due to a torn Achilles, but he appeared in 12 contests with the team in 2021. He'll now seek a new opportunity elsewhere.

Giants' Collin Johnson: Will not return Friday
Johnson has been declared out for the remainder of Friday's preseason game in Detroit due to a knee injury, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
According to Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record, Johnson was able to take a knee next to his wide receiver coach and did not appear to be in much distress, so there is reason for optimism going forward. He failed to bring in his only target prior to leaving the game. The 25-year-old is competing against a crowded receiver room for a depth role with the team this season.

Giants' Collin Johnson: Starts running again
Johnson (Achilles) said Tuesday that he's resumed running on turf and expects to be ready to go for the start of the 2023 season, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Johnson had been an early standout during training camp this past summer and might have pushed for a top-three role in the Giants' wideout corps before sustaining a season-ending torn right Achilles' tendon in an Aug. 24 practice, getting surgery shortly thereafter. The wideout may not be able to achieve full medical clearance in advance of OTAs this spring, but if he continues to make positive progress in the months to come, he could be close to 100 percent for the start of 2023 training camp.

Giants' Collin Johnson: Goes on IR
The Giants placed Johnson (Achilles) on injured reserve Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
After the Giants claimed Johnson off waivers last September, he proceeded to make 12 appearances as a part of an injury-riddled receiving corps, hauling in 11 of 21 passes for 105 yards and no touchdowns on 209 offensive snaps. According to Connor Hughes of SNY.tv, Johnson has been impressive in training camp, which was apparent through two preseason games, where he produced a combined 10-123-0 receiving line on 13 targets. But after Johnson was carted off the practice field Wednesday, he was diagnosed with a torn Achilles, almost certainly ending his 2022 campaign. He'll likely undergo surgery within the next few days.

The Giants announced that Johnson suffered a torn Achilles' tendon during Wednesday's practice.
Per Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com, Johnson was vying for a possible key role at wideout after a strong training camp, which included catching 10 passes for 123 yards across two preseason games.
