Colts' Jake Funk: Joins 53-man roster
Funk was signed to the Colts' active roster from their practice squad Tuesday.
Funk joined the team's practice squad in November after a short stint with the Saints, proceeded by him being let go by the Rams in October. The 24-year-old should suit up Sunday against the Texans, which will be his first game with the Colts.

Jake Funk: Inks to practice squad
The Colts signed Funk to the practice squad Thursday.
Funk suited up for five games with the Rams this season but played only one snap on offense, and he recently spent time on the Saints' practice squad. Now, he will get a chance to compete for an emergency reserve role with Indianapolis, replacing Phillip Lindsay on the practice squad.

Jake Funk: Let go Tuesday
Funk was cut from the Saints' practice squad Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Funk signed with New Orleans' practice squad Oct. 12, just one day after being cut loose by the Rams. However, it appears his time in New Orleans will be short, as he was originally brought in when Alvin Kamara was dealing with a rib injury. Funk will now work to a find an opportunity elsewhere.

Jake Funk: Headed to New Orleans
Funk signed with the Saints' practice squad Wednesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Funk was waived by the Rams on Tuesday after playing just one offensive snap in the team's crowded running backs corps this season. However, the 2021 seventh-round pick could get a chance to record his first carry of the season as a potential game-day elevation for the Saints, as No. 1 running back Alvin Kamara has been in and out of the lineup with a rib injury this season. Funk also played 74 special-teams snaps over five games in 2022, which could also help his cause for a promotion to the active roster.

Jake Funk: Cut loose by Rams
The Rams waived Funk on Tuesday.
With Kyren Williams inching closer to returning from a sprained ankle he suffered in the season-opener against Buffalo, the Rams ultimately let their 2021 seventh-round pick go. Los Angeles also acquired veteran running back Malcolm Brown in late September to add depth behind Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson, leaving Funk with few opportunities to earn snaps in the team's backfield. The 205-pounder has just two carries for five yards since joining the Rams in 2021, and he'll now search for a chance to rejuvenate his young NFL career.

Rams' Jake Funk: No offensive snaps
Funk played exclusively on special teams and recorded no stats during Thursday's 31-10 loss to the Bills.
Even with Kyren Williams (ankle) leaving the game early, Funk never took an offensive snap while the majority of the rushing load fell to Darrell Henderson. Cam Akers also sits in front of Funk on the depth chart, meaning Funk's path to playing time and fantasy relevance may still be difficult even with Williams likely to miss a chunk of time with a high-ankle sprain.

Rams' Jake Funk: Doesn't do much with big workload
Funk rushed 12 times for 32 yards and caught his only target for five yards in Saturday's 16-7 preseason loss to the Bengals. He also lost a fumble.
Funk played in all four quarters, splitting work with Trey Ragas while the Rams gave rookie Kyren Williams the night off. Williams seems to have secured the third-string running back spot over Funk, who did little to improve his standing in the competition Saturday. Funk could still make the team, especially if the Rams have any uncertainty over the availability of Cam Akers (undisclosed) or Darrell Henderson (undisclosed) moving forward.

Rams' Jake Funk: Just two touches Friday
Funk rushed once for no gain and secured his only target for minus-1 yard in the Rams' 24-20 preseason loss to the Texans on Friday night.
With neither Cam Akers nor Darrell Henderson suiting up due to undisclosed injuries, Funk served as the starting running back but actually saw less work than during the preseason-opening win against the Chargers. The 2021 seventh-round pick logged most of his game action on special teams last season, and he's likely headed for a similar role in 2022 if he sticks on the final 53-man roster.

Rams' Jake Funk: Getting additional work
Funk is getting additional reps while Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson are not practicing due to soft-tissue injuries, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.
Coach Sean McVay said that the Rams are "just being smart" with their top two running backs in limiting their time on the practice field, and Funk has been the recipient of a healthy share of the workload in their absence, including six carries for 16 yards in the Rams 29-21 win over the Chargers on Saturday. Kyren Williams returned from the active/PUP list last week and is also in the mix for valuable reps in practice, and the duo should see plenty of work for the rest of the preseason as they fight for the No. 3 spot on the team's backfield depth chart.

Rams' Jake Funk: Nine touches Saturday
Funk rushed six times for 16 yards in Saturday's 29-22 win over the Chargers. He also caught one of two passes for 10 yards and returned two kicks for 36 yards.
Funk didn't light up the stat sheet Saturday, but he did show off a multi-faceted skill set beyond his rushing ability with his reception and two kick returns. Brandon Powell (knee) and Tutu Atwell will likely serve as the primary return men for the Rams during the regular season, but Funk's abilities on special teams may help swing the second-year running back onto the roster and into a backup role, especially if Kyren Williams (foot) isn't ready to go to start the regular season.

Rams' Jake Funk: Rushes twice against Cards
Funk rushed twice for five yards during the 34-11 wild-card round victory over Arizona on Monday. He played four offensive snaps.
The seventh-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft matched his regular-season numbers against the Cardinals on Monday. Funk rushed once in the second quarter and on the final offensive play of the game for the Rams, and he projects to have a limited role again this week against the Buccaneers with Cam Akers and Sony Michel healthy and running well.

Rams' Jake Funk: Plays two snaps Week 16
Funk carried once for minus-1 yard while playing two of the Rams' 70 offensive snaps in Sunday's 30-23 win over the Vikings.
Sony Michel carried the load for the Rams, toting the rock 27 times and leaving little work left over for anyone else. With Darrell Henderson (knee) moving to injured reserve Tuesday, Funk could be first in line to ascend to the No. 2 role Week 17 in Baltimore, but he's not likely to have a major role behind Michel. Additionally, Cam Akers (Achilles) could be ready to make his season debut this weekend, in which case Funk would be third in line for backfield work.

Rams' Jake Funk: Activated off IR
The Rams activated Funk (hamstring) to the active roster Tuesday.
Funk was originally expected to be out for the season, but he is now back with the Rams' active roster and could potentially suit up Tuesday against the Seahawks. Although he is very close to being fully healthy, the running back will likely continue to mostly see the field on special teams.

Rams' Jake Funk: Designated for return
Funk (hamstring) was designated to return from IR on Sunday.
Funk was placed on IR on Oct. 19 after it was originally reported that he was done for the season. Now that Funk has been designated to return, he has a 21-day window to prove he is healthy enough to be moved to the main roster or he will officially be out for the rest of the season.
