  • Jets' C.J. Uzomah: Restructures contract for 2023

Uzomah and the Jets agreed Wednesday to a restructure of his contract that converts $4.5 million of his salary for 2023 into a signing bonus, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Uzomah's contract adjustment clears $3.6 million in cap space for the Jets, while it also makes it more difficult for New York to move on from the 30-year-old after this season considering that he's in line to account for more than $12.5 million against the cap in 2024, per Bridget Hyland of The Newark Star-Ledger. Uzomah, who tallied 21 receptions for 232 yards and two touchdowns across 15 games played in 2022, is once again slated to compete for snaps this year with fellow tight end Tyler Conklin.

  • Jets' C.J. Uzomah: Inactive for season finale

Uzomah (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's season finale against Miami, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

The soon-to-be 30-year-old tight end saw a season-high seven targets Week 17 in Seattle but apparently suffered an ankle injury in the process. He finishes his first year in New York with a 21-232-2 receiving line on 27 targets in 15 games (13 starts), while fellow 2022 offseason addition Tyler Conklin has seen more than triple that target total after signing a contract quite similar to Uzomah's. It is possible Uzomah competes for a larger role in the passing game in 2023, and he'll likely be back in New York given that $7 million of his $8 million base salary is guaranteed, per OverTheCap.

  • Jets' C.J. Uzomah: Questionable for Week 18

Uzomah (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh expects Uzomah to play, even after the tight end sat out Friday's practice. The Jets will turn to Joe Flacco as their quarterback for the season finale, and while Flacco will likely throw plenty of short passes, Tyler Conklin stands to benefit more than Uzomah among New York tight ends.

  • Jets' C.J. Uzomah: Thrown to season-high seven times

Uzomah caught three of seven targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 23-6 loss to the Seahawks.

Uzomah's season-high seven targets ranked second behind Garrett Wilson's 11, but fellow tight end Tyler Conklin was far more efficient with his opportunities, leading the team in catches (six) and receiving yards (80) on only six targets. Heading into the season finale against the Dolphins, Uzomah has 21 catches for 232 yards and two touchdowns on 27 targets in his first year with the Jets.

  • Jets' C.J. Uzomah: Secures 30-yard grab

Uzomah caught his only target for 30 yards in Thursday's 19-3 loss to the Jaguars.

Chris Streveler briefly gave the Jets some life on offense after replacing the ineffective Zach Wilson under center in the third quarter, but Streveler underthrew a wide open Uzomah. The veteran tight end did well to work back to the ball and secure the catch, but he would have had a long touchdown for a second consecutive week had Streveler hit him in stride.

  • Jets' C.J. Uzomah: Scores first two TDs of 2022

Uzomah caught both of his targets for 41 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Lions.

Uzomah's first touchdown in a Jets uniform was also his longest play since joining Gang Green, as the tight end scored on a 40-yard deep ball to tie the score at seven in the second quarter. He added a go-ahead, one-yard touchdown with 4:41 remaining in the fourth, but New York failed to hold that lead. Uzomah's limited volume will make repeating this performance difficult in Week 16 against the Jaguars.

  • Jets' C.J. Uzomah: One catch in Week 14

Uzomah caught one of two targets for seven yards in Sunday's 20-12 loss to Buffalo.

Uzomah was out-targeted 8-2 by fellow tight end Tyler Conklin. The former's biggest contribution was a fumble recovery after the ball was knocked out of quarterback Mike White's hand.
