  • Patriots' Mike Gesicki: Inked by New England

Gesicki agreed Friday with the Patriots on a one-year contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Gesicki remains in the AFC East, moving on after five seasons with the Dolphins to sign with a division rival. The athletic tight end took a back seat to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle in 2022, with just a 32-362-5 receiving line through 17 regular-season appearances, but he logged two straight seasons with 700-plus receiving yards from 2020-21. Now in New England, Gesicki is set to form a tight end tandem with Hunter Henry, a superior blocker and capable pass catcher in his own right. Gesicki, however, boasts deep-threat and YAC abilities unique to the Patriots' tight end room, giving him the potential to emerge as an interesting fantasy option if he can establish a successful rapport with Mac Jones this offseason.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Likely to depart as free agent

Gesicki is expected to part ways with the Dolphins as a free agent this offseason, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports. Gesicki secured 32 of 52 targets for 362 yards and five touchdowns across 17 regular-season appearances with the Dolphins in 2022, and general manager Chris Grier said he has "earned the right to be a free agent" after a year playing on the franchise tag. The tight end appeared a questionable fit in coach Mike McDaniel's scheme even ahead of this past campaign, and despite Miami's coaching staff relaying continued optimism that the athletic tight end would keep a key role on offense, he ended up with his lowest receiving marks since his rookie season. Though Gesicki continued to flash occasional playmaking ability when called upon, his underwhelming utilization in McDaniel's scheme makes it seem unlikely he re-signs with the Dolphins. Other franchises in the league may be more willing to feature Gesicki's receiving skill set.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Productive in Week 18 win

Gesicki secured four of six targets for 46 yards during Sunday's 11-6 win over the Jets. Gesicki recorded more receiving yardage Week 18 than his last six games combined, showing some sparks with third-string quarterback Skylar Thompson under center. The Dolphins realistically could have either Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) or Teddy Bridgewater (finger) back under center for the upcoming wild-card matchup against the Bills, so it remains to be seen whether Gesicki's trend of more noticeable involvement will continue.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Ends cold streak with touchdown

Gesicki secured two of four targets for 18 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 23-21 loss to the Patriots. Gesicki recorded more than one catch for the first time since Week 10 and scored for the first time since Week 8 on Sunday, though his yardage total still was modest. The tight end's increased involvement was likely a product of Miami's conservative game plan without Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) in the lineup, a trend that could repeat Week 18 at home against the Jets.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Makes one catch in loss

Gesicki secured one of two targets for 24 yards during Sunday's 26-20 loss to the Packers. Gesicki has managed only two catches for 29 yards in five games since Miami's bye in Week 11. Regardless of any athletic or big-play ability he's flashed in previous seasons, Gesicki can only be considered an extremely low-floor option heading into a Week 17 divisional clash against the Patriots. Outside of fantasy formats that start multiple tight ends, he doesn't merit consideration for fantasy lineups.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Remains uninvolved

Gesicki secured his only target for five yards during Saturday's 32-29 loss to the Bills. Gesicki broke his three-game zero-catch streak during Saturday's divisional loss, but not by much. The franchise-tagged tight end hasn't recorded a game with double-digit yards from scrimmage since Week 10, a trend that keeps him off the fantasy radar in almost all formats heading into a Week 16 matchup against the Packers. Gesicki is trending in the direction of his worst statistical season since 2018, his rookie campaign.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Zero-catch streak continues

Gesicki could not secure either of his two targets during Sunday night's 23-17 loss to the Chargers. Gesicki hasn't recorded a single yard from scrimmage since mid-November, a trend that was established even before Tua Tagovailoa's recent two-game slump. Regardless of his athletic traits and big-play ability, Gesicki's recent floor puts him outside the fantasy radar in most formats heading into a tough Week 15 matchup against the Bills.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: TEs to Sit

Gesicki hasn't caught a pass in two games on just two targets. The Chargers have also been tough on tight ends not named Darren Waller, Travis Kelce, Greg Dulcich or David Njoku, and those are the only tight ends with more than eight PPR points against this defense. The Chargers also just held Foster Moreau to one catch for 32 yards on three targets in Week 13, and Gesicki might have worse production than that in Week 14 given his recent level of play.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Can't secure lone target

Gesicki failed to haul in his only target during Sunday's 33-17 loss to the 49ers. Gesicki very nearly converted his only target into a critical fourth-down conversion with roughly six minutes left on the clock in the fourth quarter, but it was overturned after a coach's challenge determined he didn't maintain control of the ball. The athletic tight end has logged back-to-back one-target games since Miami's bye, and he's gone above 50 receiving yards only once this season. Fantasy managers will hope from more out of Gesicki versus the Chargers in Week 14, but he has a dangerously low floor.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: TEs to Sit

Gesicki didn't have a catch in Week 12 against Houston on just one target, and he's combined for six PPR points in his past three games. He'll pop up with the occasional good performance here and there, but he's not worth trusting heading into Week 13 at San Francisco. The 49ers haven't allowed a tight end to score a touchdown since Week 6.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Held without a catch

Gesicki failed to secure his only target during Sunday's 30-15 win over the Texans. Meanwhile, No. 2 tight end Durham Smythe turned his only target into a four-yard touchdown, the only score Tua Tagovailoa threw before exiting Sunday's blowout win early. Tagovailoa has excelled at distributing the ball efficiently, and he connected with nine different targets for completions versus Houston, solidifying the reality that Gesicki's fantasy floor has bottomed out. The athletic tight end is still a big-play threat, but with just three catches in his last three games, it will be difficult for fantasy managers to rely on Gesicki heading into a Week 13 matchup against the 49ers.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Only two catches in blowout win

Gesicki secured two of three targets for 31 yards during Sunday's 39-17 win over the Browns. Gesicki has surpassed 50 receiving yards in only one of his 10 appearances this season, and Sunday's win was a reminder to fantasy managers that the athletic tight end's floor is worrying due to a passing offense that runs through wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. It was Trent Sherfield (5-63-1) who capitalized on complementary target opportunities Week 10, and while Gesicki will remain involved when the Dolphins return from their Week 11 bye, the tight end's fantasy results may not be desirable in contests where he doesn't score.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: TEs to Sit

The Browns have been phenomenal against opposing tight ends all season, and Gesicki should have another disappointing game this week. Cleveland has allowed just one touchdown to a tight end this year, which was Hunter Henry in Week 6. Otherwise, the Browns have limited Pat Freiermuth, Kyle Pitts, Gerald Everett, Mark Andrews and Hayden Hurst to eight PPR points or less in each outing. Gesicki has three games with at least 12 PPR points this season and six games with five PPR points or less. I don't have high expectations for him against Cleveland in Week 10.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Near invisible in Week 9 win

Gesicki secured one of two targets for three yards during Sunday's 35-32 win over the Bears. Gesicki's lack of involvement in a competitive game that saw Tua Tagovailoa attempt 30 passes, surpassing 300 yards with three aerial touchdowns, was a disappointing reminder for fantasy managers that he should be considered a boom-or-bust lineup option. In Sunday's win, Gesicki's most notable play may have been a failure to connect with Tagovailoa in the third quarter, when the Dolphins attempted to convert on fourth-and-6. The athletic tight end will get a chance to rebound Week 10 against the Browns.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

The Bears are down Roquan Smith and Robert Quinn, and this defense should be vulnerable against the Dolphins and Tua Tagovailoa. Dallas just had its tight ends (Dalton Schultz, Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot) combine for nine catches, 90 yards and a touchdown against Chicago, and Gesicki has now scored at least 12 PPR points in two of his past three games. He also has 18 targets over that span, and there appears to be enough volume in Miami for him to produce quality stats alongside Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Start Him (Lineup Decisions)

Gesicki has been one of the best tight ends in the touchdown-or-bust streaming tier, but his minimal usage in general caps any shot of him being a great option. There's also a tiny bit of worry about Jeff Wilson stealing some of Gesicki's touches inside the 10 since he's a physical runner with short-yardage experience. All that said, Gesicki's role lately has been bountiful for Fantasy purposes and shouldn't be ignored. I'd roll with him over Hayden Hurst, Robert Tonyan and Dawson Knox.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Finds end zone in win

Gesicki brought in three of four targets for 38 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins' 31-27 win over the Lions on Sunday. Gesicki checked in third in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the afternoon, and he brought in his fourth touchdown grab of the season on an 11-yard catch late in the third quarter that proved to be the difference in the game for the Dolphins. The veteran tight end's involvement has picked up over the last three games after an uneven start to the campaign, as Gesicki now has a 12-134-2 line in that span. Gesicki's next opportunity to extend that streak comes against the Bears in a Week 9 road matchup.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Struggles with seven targets

Gesicki caught three of seven targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 16-10 win over the Steelers. Gesicki failed to capitalize off of last week's two-score performance, crashing back down to earth with a forgettable fantasy line. The seven targets with Tua Tagovailoa (concussion/ankle) back under center was noteworthy, as the duo failed to produce more than four targets in any game both have been active in this season. Gesicki remains a fringe fantasy tight end heading into next Sunday's matchup against the Lions.

  • Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: TEs to Sit

Gesicki was awesome in Week 6 against Minnesota with six catches for 69 yards and two touchdowns on seven targets, but that's only the second time he had more than four PPR points this season. I'm not ready to trust him in Week 7 against the Steelers, especially if Jaylen Waddle (shoulder) is healthy. If Waddle is out then I'll remove Gesicki from this list, and he would be worth using as a low-end starter in most leagues.
