Patriots' Davon Godchaux: Seeks new contract
Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo said Wednesday that Godchaux is negotiating a new contract, Michael Giardi of BostonSportsJournal.com reports.
Mayo said that Godchaux was present at practice Monday but didn't participate. Godchaux has suited up for a full slate of 17 regular-season games in each of his three years with the Patriots, never playing less than 600 defensive snaps in any campaign. He's currently entering the final year of his deal with the team.

Godchaux recorded eight tackles (four solo) in Sunday's 10-6 loss against the Colts.
Godchaux recorded eight tackles for the second game in a row in Week 10, and he totaled at least five tackles for the fourth time in the last six weeks. Unfortunately for IDP managers though, he hasn't been able to sack the quarterback or force any turnovers in 2023. After New England's bye in Week 11, the Patriots will travel to face a run-heavy Giants team.

Godchaux (ankle) has been downgraded to out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Jets, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Godchaux logged one tackle before exiting with an ankle injury, which will leave him sidelined for the second half. Third-string nose tackle Daniel Ekuale (elbow) was also ruled out for the remainder of the game, meaning Christian Barmore will have to step into a primary role on the middle of New England's defense. Godchaux will look to work his way back before the Patriots' next game against Dallas on Sunday, Oct. 1.
