  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Won't be indicted

Mixon won't be indicted in connection with a shooting that occurred near his home March 6, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. Per Baby, Mixon's home was part of a crime scene investigation where a teenager was shot in the foot while playing "Nerf wars," described by the report as a game involving toy guns. While Mixon's sister and her boyfriend reportedly face indictments stemming from the incident, the running back won't be subject to any criminal punishment. This past season, Mixon -- who is under contract with the Bengals through 2024 -- carried 210 times for 814 yards and seven TDs to go along with 60 catches for 441 yards and a pair of receiving scores in 14 games.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Has charge dismissed

Mixon's charge of aggravated menacing was dismissed by the Hamilton County (Ohio) Municipal Court on Friday, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports An arrest warrant was issued for Mixon on Thursday, after which the Bengals released a statement: "The club is aware misdemeanor charges have been raised against Joe Mixon. The club is investigating the situation and will not comment further at this time." While the initial charge now isn't actionable, the presiding judge of the court said it could be refiled after further investigation. As such, Mixon doesn't appear to be out of the woods yet on the legal front, meaning punishment from the NFL remains a possibility.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Issued warrant for arrest

Mixon has been issued an arrest warrant on a count of aggravated menacing, per Hamilton County (Ohio) Court records, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. The Bengals released a statement Thursday in the wake of the news: "The club is aware misdemeanor charges have been raised against Joe Mixon. The club is investigating the situation and will not comment further at this time." With the entire offseason ahead of him, the NFL will allow the legal process to play itself out before determining if any sort of punishment will be levied upon Mixon under the personal conduct policy.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Struggles in season-ending loss

Mixon rushed eight times for 19 yards and caught all three of his targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 23-20 AFC Championship Game loss to the Chiefs. With Cincinnati's offensive line needing all the blocking help it could get against Kansas City's pass rush, Mixon ceded significant playing time to superior blocker Samaje Perine, who had 26 yards from scrimmage on eight touches, including a two-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter. It was a disappointing ending to an up-and-down season for Mixon, who had five total touchdowns in Week 9 against the Panthers but only five TDs in 16 other appearances between the regular season and playoffs. Mixon has two years remaining on his deal with the Bengals, while Perine is set to be an unrestricted free agent.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Tops century mark

Mixon rushed 20 times for 105 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Bills in the AFC divisional round. He also caught two of three targets for 18 yards. Mixon dashed through the snow behind a dominant offensive line, topping the 100-yard mark for the first time since his Week 9 explosion versus the Panthers. The tailback also plowed his way in for one-yard touchdown to close the third quarter, helping Cincinnati extend its one-score lead at the time. Mixon will now set his sights on next Sunday's matchup versus the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. Although he was sidelined for his team's meeting with Kansas City in Week 13 of the regular season, Mixon totaled 115 yards on 24 touches in last year's AFC Championship Game victory at Arrowhead Stadium.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Quiet in wild-card round

Mixon rushed 11 times for 39 yards while catching three of four targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 24-17 wild-card round win over the Ravens. Mixon failed to find much running room as the Bengals had to grind out difficult drives against the tough Baltimore defense. Joe Burrow vultured a short touchdown with a quarterback sneak, but Samaje Perine had just three scrimmage yards on two carries and one target, so Mixon should have an opportunity to bounce back with another sizable workload against the Bills in the AFC divisional round.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Scores to close regular season

Mixon rushed the ball 11 times for 27 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-16 win over Baltimore. He added five receptions on five targets for 41 yards. Mixon was bottled up on the ground, though the Bengals averaged only 2.8 yards per rushing attempt as a team. He still managed a decent fantasy performance thanks to a one-yard plunge into the end zone late in the first quarter. Mixon was also active as a pass catcher and recorded the team's longest play from scrimmage with a 33-yard reception. He closes the regular season with 814 rushing yards and nine total touchdowns across 14 games and will be a key contributor during Cincinnati's postseason run.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Posts 108 combined yards

Mixon had 65 rushing yards on 16 carries along another 43 receiving yards on seven catches in Saturday's win over the Patriots. The Bengals made it a priority to establish Mixon, who received the lion's share of backfield snaps. He had a touchdown taken away in the first half on a holding penalty against Devin Asiasi, which otherwise would have given him a really productive fantasy day. Mixon has not found the end zone since his monster five-touchdown outing in Week 9.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Struggles on ground

Mixon was held to 21 rushing yards on 11 carries Sunday, adding five receptions (six targets) for 33 yards in a 34-23 win over Tampa Bay. Mixon was unable to take advantage of the gaping hole left in the middle of Tampa Bay's rush defense by the absence of star nose tackle Vita Vea (calf). The 26-year-old has been prone to these duds in 2022, as he now has four games of less than 30 rushing yards and no touchdowns. Mixon's overall numbers have been boosted by a monster four-touchdown game against Carolina in Week 9, but it hasn't been smooth sailing for fantasy managers who took the back high in drafts this year. Mixon will look to rebound against the Patriots on Saturday.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Solid return effort

Mixon had 14 carries for 96 yards and two catches for 10 yards in Sunday's win over the Browns. As the Bengals promised, they did also include Samaje Perine (4-22-1, plus one catch for two yards on five targets) in the offense, but Mixon was the primary ballcarrier and the one they turned to frequently to finish off the game in the second half.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Out of concussion protocol

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed Thursday that Mixon cleared the NFL's concussion protocol last week, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports. After practicing fully Wednesday, Mixon is on track to end his two-game absence this Sunday against the Browns. Mixon was a limited participant in all three of the Bengals' practices last week before being listed as questionable ahead of the team's game against the Chiefs. According to Dehner, Mixon disclosed that he was "barely" experiencing concussion symptoms that were mostly related to his vision by the end of the week, and despite clearing the protocol ahead of kickoff time, the Bengals ultimately chose to make the running back inactive for the second straight week in an eventual 27-24 win over Kansas City. With Mixon having now cleared the protocol and set to turn in a full week of practice, he'll be returning to action as the starter, which Taylor confirmed Wednesday, per Dehner. However, with backup Samaje Perine excelling in a three-down role in Mixon's absence the past two weeks, it's possible the distribution of work between the two backs is tighter than it had been in previous weeks when both were healthy.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Logs full practice

Mixon (concussion) was listed as a full practice participant Wednesday, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. Mixon put in a full practice for the first time since suffering the concussion in the Bengals' Week 11 win over the Steelers. The team hasn't yet confirmed that Mixon has cleared the NFL's five-step concussion protocol, but in the absence of any setbacks in the coming days, the Bengals' top back looks to be trending toward a return to action this Sunday against the Browns.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Making progress

Mixon will need to go through a full-contact practice before he can be cleared from the NFL's concussion protocol, though head coach Zac Taylor said Wednesday that "everything is positive right now" in terms of the running back's status ahead of Sunday's game against the Browns, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports. Mixon was limited at practice last week before landing on the inactive list ahead of the Bengals' eventual 27-24 win over the Chiefs, but Cincinnati looks as though it's on track to get its top back in the lineup this weekend. In Mixon's absence for the previous two games, Samaje Perine has been handling the bulk of the team's backfield touches.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Inactive Sunday

Mixon (concussion) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports. Mixon, who missed last Sunday's win over Tennessee, logged limited listings on all three of the Bengals' practice reports this week, but the running back was ultimately unable to gain clearance to face Kansas City. In his continued absence, Samaje Perine -- who recorded 17 carries for 58 yards and a TD to go along with four catches (on seven targets) for 35 yards last weekend -- is slated to lead Cincinnati's Week 13 backfield, with Trayveon Williams and Chris Evans on hand to handle complementary work.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Looks like 'long shot' to play

Mixon, who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs while he remains in the NFL's concussion protocol, is viewed as a "long shot" to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. With Sunday's game not kicking off until 4:25 p.m. ET, Mixon still has a few hours to theoretically clear the five-step protocol, but the Bengals don't seem to be proceeding with the belief that he'll be available. Mixon was able to practice only in a limited fashion this week, so even if he clears the protocol and isn't included on the Bengals' inactive list -- which will be released 90 minutes before kickoff -- he may not fill his usual high-volume role out of the backfield. If that's the case, Samaje Perine will be set up for another turn as a three-down back for Cincinnati after playing 80 percent of the snaps on offense and turning his 21 touches into 93 yards and a touchdown in last week's win over the Titans.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Remains in concussion protocol

Mixon (concussion) did not clear concussion protocol Saturday and remains questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Mixon has remained in concussion protocol for the entire week leading up to the matchup against the Chiefs and has only limited time prior to kickoff to be cleared. He remains questionable, however, and his status will become official shortly before 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday. If Mixon is out, Samaje Perine will serve as the Bengals' lead back for the second consecutive game.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Still in concussion protocol

As of Friday, Mixon remains in the NFL's concussion protocol, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports. The running back has been able to practice in a limited fashion this week, but given that he has yet to officially clear concussion protocol, his status for Sunday's game against the Chiefs has yet to be determined. Friday's final injury report is slated to add further context with regard to Mixon's chances of playing this weekend, but if he's unable to suit up, Samaje Perine would be in line to lead the Bengals' Week 13 backfield.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Stays limited in practice

Mixon (concussion) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. Mixon's reps were capped in practice for the second day in a row, an indication that he hasn't made any notable progress since Wednesday as he works his way through the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. If Mixon is able to practice in full Friday, he would likely be in good shape to suit up Sunday against the Chiefs, though he would still need to receive clearance for an independent neurologist before getting the green light to suit up. In the event Mixon can't get cleared for the Week 13 matchup, Samaje Perine would be in store for another turn as Cincinnati's lead back after getting 21 touches (17 carries, four receptions) in last Sunday's win over the Titans.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Logs limited practice

Mixon (concussion) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports. Mixon, who was inactive in the Bengals' Week 12 win over the Titans, didn't practice at all leading up to that contest, so his participation in Wednesday's session bodes well for his chances of returning to action Sunday against the Chiefs. In order to do so, Mixon will need to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol, but barring any setbacks in the coming days, he appears poised to resume leading Cincinnati's backfield this weekend.

  • Bengals' Joe Mixon: Expected to practice Wednesday

Head coach Zac Taylor said he expects Mixon (concussion) to practice Wednesday, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports. Mixon, who was inactive for this past Sunday's win over the Titans, will need to fully clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol in order to suit up this weekend against the Chiefs. The running back's looming return to practice Wednesday has him trending in the right direction ahead of the Week 13 contest between AFC contenders.
