Eason will return to the bench for Wednesday's game in Memphis, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports. Eason received a spot start Monday with Alperen Sengun (illness) watching from the sidelines, but Sengun is back in action for Wednesday's game, so Eason will return to a reserve role likely earning minutes in the mid-20s.... Rockets' Tari Eason: Leads team in spot start
Eason posted 21 points (9-16 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-4 FT), 12 rebounds, four steals and one assist in 31 minutes during Monday's 121-108 loss to the Warriors. Eason drew a spot start with Alperen Sengun (illness) sidelined and posted team highs in points, rebounds and steals. The rookie's 21 points were also a season high and marked his third outing with at least 20 points. He now has seven double-doubles, including two with at least 20 points and 12 rebounds. The four steals were one shy of his career-high mark, and Eason now has 20 games with multiple steals and three with at least four swipes. When Eason plays at least 25 minutes (15 games), he's averaging 14.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.7 blocks per contest.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Tari Eason: Starting Monday
Eason will return to the starting lineup for Monday's matchup with the Warriors with Alperen Sengun (illness) unavailable, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports. Joining Eason in the first unit for Monday's game will be Kevin Porter, Jalen Green, Kenyon Martin and Jabari Smith. Across four starts this season, Eason has registered averages of 11.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.8 blocks and 1.5 turnovers per contest on 48.8 percent shooting.... See More ... Rockets' Tari Eason: Moves back to bench
Eason isn't in the starting five for Wednesday's game versus the Lakers, Harrison Faigen of SBNation.com reports. Eason will be replaced by Alperen Sengun in the starting lineup Wednesday. Eason is averaging 11.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.5 assists in 27.9 minutes across his last 10 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Tari Eason: Starting Monday
Eason will join the first unit for Monday's game against the Celtics, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports. Eason is getting the start with Alperen Sengun (groin) unavailable, and he'll be joining Kevin Porter, Jalen Green, Kenyon Martin and Jabari Smith in the first unit for Monday's game. In Eason's previous three starts this season, he's posted averages of 13.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.7 steals, 0.7 swats and 1.7 turnovers per contest on 50 percent shooting.... Rockets' Tari Eason: Offers spark off bench
Eason finished Saturday's 119-111 loss to the Bulls with 12 points (4-6 FG, 4-4 3Pt), four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 21 minutes. Eason had picked up at least 25 minutes in each of the previous seven games while logging more time at small forward, but he failed to reach that benchmark Saturday. The rookie still made his mark with efficient scoring and lights-out shooting from three-point range, and his minutes count likely would have been higher had he not accrued five fouls. In spite of the downturn in minutes Saturday, Eason's rest-of-season outlook still appears to be promising.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Tari Eason: Scores team-high 20 points
Eason closed Saturday's 122-110 victory over San Antonio with 20 points (7-11 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-6 FT), five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals over 31 minutes. The Rockets had eight players in double digits in Saturday's win, and Eason paced the team in scoring despite coming off the bench. He's currently going through his most productive stretch of the campaign and has scored in double digits for a season-high four games, but his upside will always be capped as long as he continues to play off the bench.... Rockets' Tari Eason: Posts double-double in loss
Eason finished with 17 points (7-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 12 rebounds, two assists and one steal across 31 minutes during Tuesday's 133-112 loss to the Nuggets. Eason was efficient from the field and active on the glass en route to his second consecutive double-double. The former LSU star has been effective off the bench and averaged 10.7 points with 6.4 rebounds per contest across 11 outings in February.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Tari Eason: Posts double-double off bench
Eason finished with 15 points (6-12 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals over 28 minutes during Sunday's 131-114 loss to the Trail Blazers. Despite coming off the bench, Eason saw his most minutes since a Jan. 28 start and posted his fifth double-double of the campaign. The rookie first-round pick continues to garner a backup role to fellow rookie Jabari Smith, which has limited Eason's overall fantasy potential this season. However, the LSU product is still capable of strong performances on any given night and is averaging 11.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.2 steals in 22.2 minutes over his last 15 games.... Rockets' Tari Eason: Puts up 10 points in loss
Eason posted 10 points (2-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 6-10 FT), three rebounds, two assists and one steal across 19 minutes during Wednesday's 133-96 loss to Oklahoma City. Even with the Rockets having shipped out Eric Gordon at the trade deadline and then waiving the two veteran wings (Danny Green and Justin Holiday) that they acquired last week, Eason hasn't been able to seize hold of the available minutes on the wing or at small forward. Head coach Stephen Silas has continued to deploy Eason as the primary backup to power forward Jabari Smith, whose status as the No. 3 overall pick in this past year's draft should keep him secure in a high-minute role the rest of the way. As a result, Eason could struggle to consistently surpass the 20-minute mark, but the rookie out of LSU still can offer value in 14-team leagues even if he continues to handle a limited role. Through eight appearances in February, Eason is averaging 10.0 points (on 43.3 percent shooting from the field), 5.3 rebounds, 0.9 steals, 0.8 assists, 0.5 blocks and 0.4 three-pointers in 19.3 minutes.... Rockets' Tari Eason: Explodes for career-high 20 points
Eason accumulated 20 points (8-21 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 13 rebounds, three steals, two blocks and one assist across 19 minutes during Wednesday's 112-106 win over Oklahoma City. Eason returned to the bench with Alperen Sengun (illness) back in the lineup, but the former set career highs in both points and rebounds, with 12 of those boards coming on the offensive end. The rookie provided quite the line in only 19 minutes, and his fantasy appeal continues to trend up with three straight double-doubles. The Rockets have a back-to-back set coming up Friday and Saturday, and more minutes could be opening up for Eason with Jabari Smith leaving Wednesday's game with a rib injury.... See More ... Rockets' Tari Eason: Returns to bench
Eason isn't in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Thunder, Adam Spolane of Sports Radio 610 Houston reports. Alperen Sengun will replace Eason in the starting five Wednesday. The rookie forward is averaging 13.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.7 steals in 28.0 minutes across his three starts this season.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Tari Eason: Starting Saturday
Eason will enter the first unit for Saturday's game against the Pistons, Adam Spolane of Sports Radio 610 Houston reports. Eason will make his third start of the season with Jalen Green (calf), Kevin Porter (foot) and Alperen Sengun (illness) sidelined. In his previous two starts, Eason averaged 12.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks across 26.4 minutes and should be considered a streaming option Saturday.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Tari Eason: Double-doubles in loss Thursday
Eason recorded 18 points (8-13 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 11 rebounds, three assists and one block over 25 minutes during Thursday's 113-95 loss to Cleveland. Eason racked up just his second double-double of the season, an improved performance when compared to 24 hours prior when he scored just five points in 19 minutes. Despite the return of Jabari Smith from injury, Eason managed to cobble together one of his best performances of the season. However, before managers go running to the waiver wire, expectations may need to be tempered somewhat. His playing time has been underwhelming all season long, so we would need to see multiple games of 20-plus minutes before buying into the hype.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Tari Eason: Returns to bench Wednesday
Eason is not starting Wednesday against the Wizards, Adam Spolane of Sports Radio 610 Houston reports. Eason heads back to the bench after a short two-game stint in the starting unit. He's averaging 7.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game across 11 outings in January.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Tari Eason: Narrowly misses double-double
Eason ended with 11 points (5-8 FG, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks across 26 minutes during Monday's 119-114 victory over the Timberwolves. Eason fell just one rebound shy of a double-double and filled out the defensive categories in what amounted to an impressive showing while he made his second straight start. The 21-year-old has been a strong producer on a per-minute basis in 2022-23, but he'll still likely require a consistent 25-to-30-minute role to retain value in 12-team leagues moving forward. His value will likely take a hit as soon as the Rockets get one of Kevin Porter (foot) or Jabari Smith (ankle) back from injury, something that could happen as soon as Wednesday against the Wizards.... Rockets' Tari Eason: Good numbers in first career start
Eason logged 14 points (5-11 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), nine rebounds and one assist in 27 minutes during Saturday's 113-104 loss to the Timberwolves. With the Rockets down two starters in Kevin Porter (foot) and Jabari Smith (ankle), Eason received his first opportunity to work with the top unit and enjoyed a bump in playing time as a result. Just like he showcased in the preseason when he received extended run, Eason delivered an interesting fantasy line, even though it was missing some of the defensive statistics that he's typically offered. Eason's stay with the top unit will likely only last as long as both Porter and Smith are sidelined, as head coach Stephen Silas seemingly views Kenyon Martin as the top option to fill in when only one starter is sidelined.... Rockets' Tari Eason: Getting first NBA start
Eason will start Saturday's game against the Timberwolves, Mark Berman of Fox 26 Houston reports. Eason gets his first career start in the absences of Jabari Smith (ankle) and Kevin Porter (foot). Eason's career high for minutes is 29, and it seems likely he'll trend toward that workload. In the 18 games he's seen at least 20 minutes, Eason has averaged 10.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.3 assists.... See More ... See Less -
Rockets' Tari Eason: Falls just shy of double-double
Eason finished Saturday's 108-88 loss to the Knicks with nine points (4-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 0-1 FT), 13 rebounds, one assist, one block and three steals over 24 minutes. Eason struggled to shoot the ball in this one, knocking down 36.4 percent of his attempts from the field. He did find success on the boards, however, recording five of his 13 rebounds on the offensive glass. Eason has now been held to single figures in scoring in six straight appearances.... See More ... Rockets' Tari Eason: Fails to shine again Tuesday
Eason racked up six points (2-9 FG, 2-6 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist and one block over 17 minutes during Tuesday's 126-102 loss to Boston. Eason played a limited role once again Tuesday, continuing what has been a frustrating season. Despite having clear upside, he simply can't convince head coach Stephen Silas to give him more playing time. Even with Eric Gordon (groin) on the sideline, Eason was restricted to just 17 minutes. For anyone not sitting atop the standings, Eason is a very tough player to hold, at least for the foreseeable future.... See More ... See Less
