Rivers played the final three minutes of Friday's 120-95 win over the Thunder in a Play-In Game, recording two points (1-1 FG) and turning the ball over once. After missing three straight games earlier in April, Rivers was cleared in advance of the regular-season finale April 9 versus the Pelicans but didn't play in that contest. He remained on the bench Tuesday for Minnesota's loss to the Lakers in the first game of the Play-In Tournament, but Rivers got the chance to see some garbage-time run Friday. Even with two key rotation pieces in Jaden McDaniels (hand) and Naz Reid (wrist) out indefinitely, Rivers doesn't look like he'll be a regular fixture on the second unit during Minnesota's upcoming first-round playoff series with the top-seeded Nuggets.... Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Good to go Sunday
Rivers (illness) is available for Sunday's matchup against the Pelicans. Rivers has been upgraded from questionable to available and will return to action following a five-game absence due to an illness. His return should mean fewer minutes for Nickeil Alexander-Walker.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Listed as questionable
Rivers (illness) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Pelicans. Rivers is in danger of missing a sixth straight game due to an illness. Jaylen Nowell (ankle) is also questionable, so if both backup guards are ruled out, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Jordan McLaughlin would continue to see increased run behind Mike Conley and Anthony Edwards.... Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Out Saturday
Rivers (illness) will not play in Saturday's game against the Spurs, Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports. Rivers' absence will mark his fifth straight due to an illness. His only chance to return prior to the playoffs will come in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Pelicans.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Questionable Saturday
Rivers (illness) is questionable for Saturday's game against the Spurs. Rivers has missed the last four games due to a non-COVID illness, and it's unclear whether he'll be available Saturday. However, his status shouldn't significantly impact the Timberwolves' rotation.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Will not play Tuesday
Rivers (illness) will not play Tuesday against the Nets. Rivers will join Jaylen Nowell (knee) on the sidelines. Jordan McLaughlin and Nickeil Alexander-Walker have been getting a small handful of minutes as the backup guards in Minnesota lately.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Deemed questionable Tuesday
Rivers (illness) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Nets. Rivers has missed the last three games with a non-COVID illness, and it's unclear whether he'll be available Tuesday. If he sits once again, Jordan McLaughlin could see increased run.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Remains out
Rivers (illness) will not play in Sunday's game against Portland. Rivers will sit out a third consecutive game with a non-COVID illness. Jordan McLaughlin and Nickeil Alexander-Walker could see a few extra minutes in his absence. Rivers' next chance to play will come Tuesday in Brooklyn.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Status uncertain Sunday
Rivers (illness) is questionable for Sunday's game versus the Trail Blazers. Rivers is in danger of missing his third straight game Sunday due to illness. Jordan McLaughlin and Nickeil Alexander-Walker should continue to see extended minutes if Rivers doesn't suit up.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Inactive Friday
Rivers (illness) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Lakers, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports. Rivers' absence will mark his second straight due to an illness. His absence leaves Jordan McLaughlin and Nickeil Alexander-Walker as the only depth options at point guard behind Mike Conley. The veteran guard's next opportunity to suit up will come Sunday against the Trail Blazers.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Questionable Friday
Rivers (illness) is questionable for Friday's matchup against the Lakers. Rivers' availability should only factor into the gameplan if one or more of his questionable teammates, like Jaylen Nowell (knee) or Taurean Prince (illness), are sidelined. Rivers has slipped out of the rotation as the Wolves have gotten healthier.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Downgraded to out
Rivers (illness) will not play in Wednesday's game against the Suns, Alan Horton of the Timberwolves Radio Network reports. Rivers was a late addition to the injury report Wednesday with a non-COVID illness and will ultimately sit out the contest. With Anthony Edwards (calf/illness) and Jaylen Nowell (knee) questionable, there could be massive opportunities available for the likes of Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Jordan McLaughlin and Wendell Moore if one or both of Edwards and Nowell don't play.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Questionable Wednesday
Rivers (illness) is questionable to play Wednesday against the Suns. Rivers is a late addition to the injury report, but whether he plays won't make a big difference in fantasy hoops, as he's not a consistent part of the rotation in Minnesota.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Available to play
Rivers (back) will be available to play Monday versus the Knicks. Rivers could see some limited minutes behind Mike Conley in this one, but it's unlikely he'll be on the floor enough to make an impact in fantasy hoops.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Dealing with back spasms
Rivers is questionable for Monday's game in New York due to back spasms. Rivers continues to battle back spasms, and even when he's been available, he hasn't garnered a prominent role in head coach Chris Finch's rotation. If he's sidelined, Jordan McLaughlin and Nickeil Alexander-Walker will continue to see increased roles behind Mike Conley.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Available Saturday
Rivers (back) is available for Saturday's game at Toronto. Despite back spasms, Rivers will appear in a second straight game. He could be in for an expanded role, as Anthony Edwards (ankle) is missing his first game of the season Saturday and is still in a walking boot.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Questionable Saturday
Rivers (back) is questionable for Saturday's matchup against the Raptors. Rivers returned from a three-game absence Friday to play just seven minutes, and his back spasms have flared back up. With Jaylen Nowell (knee) doubtful and Anthony Edwards (ankle) questionable, more backcourt minutes could be in store for Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Jordan McLaughlin.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Returns from three-game absence
Rivers (back) played seven minutes and logged zero points (0-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt), one rebound and one assist in Friday's 139-131 double-overtime loss to the Bulls. Active for the first time after a three-game absence, Rivers recaptured a spot in the Timberwolves' rotation, but he played fewer minutes than any of the 10 Minnesota players that saw action. Rivers might have been excluded from the rotation entirely if not for the early departure of Anthony Edwards (ankle), who played just eight minutes before leaving the contest. Edwards was in a walking boot after the contest and could be in danger of missing time, but Rivers may not be the primary beneficiary of an absence, especially if Jaylen Nowell (knee) is back in action soon.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Available for Friday
Rivers (back) is available for Friday against the Bulls. Rivers was carrying a questionable tag prior to this update and missed the past three games for Minnesota. He was playing a very minor role before the injury, so he'll have to make the most of his limited minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Timberwolves' Austin Rivers: Iffy Friday
Rivers (back) is questionable for Friday's game versus the Bulls. Rivers is in danger of missing his fourth straight game Friday due to back spasms. If he's ruled out, his next chance to suit up will be Saturday's matchup with Toronto.... See More ... See Less
