  • Cardinals' Roddery Munoz: Heading back to minors

The Cardinals optioned Munoz to Triple-A Memphis on Monday. Munoz was the designated 27th man for Sunday's doubleheader against the Mets but did not appear in either contest. He has permitted four runs with a 6:2 K:BB over 4.2 frames during his time with the big club this season.

  • Cardinals' Roddery Munoz: Gets call-up for twin bill

The Cardinals recalled Munoz from Triple-A Memphis ahead of Sunday's doubleheader with the Mets. St. Louis optioned Munoz to Memphis on Saturday, but he's eligible to rejoin the club just one day later since he's being designated as the 27th man for the twin bill. Munoz will be available out of the bullpen before heading back to Triple-A.

  • Cardinals' Roddery Munoz: Sent back to minors

The Cardinals optioned Munoz to Triple-A Memphis on Saturday. Munoz allowed one run in two innings after being recalled from the minors Friday, and he'll now head back to Memphis after a day with the Cards. Michael McGreevy was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

  • Cardinals' Roddery Munoz: Recalled from Triple-A

The Cardinals recalled Munoz from Triple-A Memphis on Friday. Munoz made three appearances with St. Louis earlier this season, allowing three runs with a 4:1 K:BB over 2.2 innings. The right-hander will give manager Oliver Marmol a fresh bullpen arm.

  • Cardinals' Roddery Munoz: Optioned back to minors

The Cardinals optioned Munoz to Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday. He had pitched each of the last two days, so the Cardinals are replacing him with a fresh bullpen arm in Matt Svanson, who was called up from Memphis. Munoz yielded three runs with a 4:1 K:BB over 2.2 innings during his brief time with the big club.

  • Cardinals' Roddery Munoz: Summoned from minors

The Cardinals recalled Munoz from Triple-A Memphis on Friday, John Denton of MLB.com reports. Munoz has permitted one run with a 7:5 K:BB over five innings with Memphis this season, recording one save in the process. He is taking the roster spot vacated by Chris Roycroft, who has been optioned to Memphis.

  • Cardinals' Roddery Munoz: Poised for promotion

Munoz will be recalled from Triple-A Memphis prior to Friday's game against the Phillies, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. It will be the corresponding move after Chris Roycroft was optioned to Memphis on Thursday. Munoz has yielded one run with a 7:5 K:BB over five innings with Memphis this season, recording one save. The righty is making a full-time move to a reliever role in 2025 after spending most of his career in the minors and in 2024 with the Marlins as a starting pitcher.

  • Cardinals' Roddery Munoz: Moved to Triple-A

The Cardinals optioned Munoz to Triple-A Memphis on Friday. Munoz was solid in his first spring as a Cardinal, giving up four runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out 10 batters over seven frames. However, he owns a 6.53 ERA over 82.2 career MLB innings, so it makes sense that St. Louis would like to see him sustain success over a longer period before giving him a big-league roster spot. The 24-year-old right-hander is making the switch from starter to reliever this season, which should increase his chances at reaching St. Louis once the Cards begin searching for fresh arms to cycle into their bullpen.

  • Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Optioned to Jacksonville

The Marlins optioned Munoz to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Munoz was lit up for six earned runs on seven hits (including three home runs) and a walk in just 1.1 innings Tuesday, and he'll now head back to the minors in an effort to get back on track. Xzavion Curry was recalled from Jacksonville in a corresponding move, though it remains unclear if he will replace Munoz in the Marlins' rotation going forward.

  • Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Lasts just 3.1 frames vs. Arizona

Munoz allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three batters over 3.1 innings in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Munoz struggled with his control in the outing, throwing just 40 of 73 pitches for strikes. The right-hander lasted exactly 3.1 innings for the second consecutive start and has failed to get out of the fourth frame in three of his past four appearances. Walks have been a big issue for Munoz of late -- he's issued exactly three free passes in each of those three short outings. His 4.5 BB/9 is sixth worst among MLB hurlers who have thrown at least 70 innings this season.

  • Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Settles for no-decision Saturday

Munoz came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 9-8 extra-inning loss to the Padres, giving up three runs on six hits over five innings. He struck out three without walking a batter. The rookie right-hander left the game after 87 pitches (53 strikes) with the Marlins ahead 7-3, but the bullpen couldn't secure the win for him. Munoz hasn't lasted more than five innings in five straight outings, posting a poor 6.08 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 20:9 K:BB through 23.2 innings over that stretch, but Miami doesn't have any better, healthier options to replace him in the rotation. He lines up to make his next start on the road next weekend against the Mets.

  • Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Earns second win

Munoz (2-5) picked up the win Wednesday over Tampa Bay, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out seven. Munoz allowed a run in both of the first two innings on a Christopher Morel homer and a Jonny DeLuca RBI triple. However, the 24-year-old right-hander would settle in and blank the Rays over his final three frames while recording seven strikeouts, matching a season high. Munoz now sports a 5.45 ERA at the big-league level this year with a 1.38 WHIP and 57:32 K:BB across 66 innings. He figures to remain in Miami's rotation after Trevor Rogers was traded to the Orioles, and with that, Munoz's next outing is currently lined up for early next week at home versus the Reds.

  • Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Summoned from Triple-A

The Marlins recalled Munoz from Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Munoz had been optioned to Jacksonville on Friday, but he'll be eligible to rejoin the Marlins without making an appearance in the minors since he'll be replacing one of the many players that Miami traded away ahead of Tuesday's deadline. The banged-up Marlins still have plenty of holes in their rotation, so Munoz could step back into a starting role as soon as Wednesday at Tampa Bay or Thursday at Atlanta. He holds a 5.61 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 50:31 K:BB over 61 innings in the majors in 2024.

  • Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Sent down to Triple-A

The Marlins optioned Munoz to Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday. Munoz surrendered six runs in five innings during a start against the Orioles on Thursday and was removed from the active roster. Since being recalled June 8, Munoz logged a 5.76 ERA in 45.1 innings for Miami.

  • Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Returning to starting role Thursday

Munoz is slated to start Thursday's game against the Astros in Houston. In his last appearance Friday against the White Sox, Munoz piggybacked starter Bryan Hoeing for four innings, giving up two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out two batters over his 87 pitches. Both Munoz and Hoeing will get their own starts this week, as Hoeing is slated to toe the rubber Wednesday while Munoz gets the ball for the series finale. Munoz holds a 5.48 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 40:24 K:BB through 44.1 innings in the majors this season.

  • Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Solid in no-decision

Munoz came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Phillies, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four. The rookie right-hander exited the game after 79 pitches (50 strikes) in line for his fourth loss, despite the fact the Munoz allowed fewer than three runs for only the second time in his last six starts. A late rally by the Marlins took him off the hook, however. Munoz will take a 5.58 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 38:20 K:BB through 40.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the White Sox.

  • Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Crushed by Cards

Munoz escaped with a no-decision in Tuesday's 9-8 extra-inning win over the Cardinals, surrendering seven runs (six earned) on eight hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over four innings. He struck out three. The rookie right-hander wasn't able to build on an impressive performance against the Mets his last time out, and Munoz served up multiple homers for the fourth time in his six big-league starts this season. He's been taken deep 11 times in only 29.2 innings, fueling a 5.76 ERA, but the Marlins' injury issues in the rotation give them few options to replace him. Munoz will try to keep the ball in the park in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Kansas City.

  • Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Making another start

Munoz is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Mets, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. The right-hander was called up from Triple-A Jacksonville earlier in the weekend and started in Saturday's loss to the Guardians. He gave up four runs over four innings during that outing and has a 5.95 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 22:11 K:BB over 19.2 frames in his four starts for the Marlins on the season, but he'll get at least one more turn through the rotation while Miami waits for the likes of Edward Cabrera (shoulder), Ryan Weathers (finger) and Sixto Sanchez (shoulder) to return from the injured list.

  • Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Struggles versus Guardians

Munoz (1-2) allowed four runs on five hits and four walks while striking out three over four-plus innings to take the loss versus the Guardians on Saturday. Munoz made his first big-league appearance in over a month, but he didn't pitch particularly well. He allowed a solo home run to Jose Ramirez in the first inning, and Steven Kwan's two-run blast in the fifth ended Munoz's outing. Through 19.2 innings, the rookie right-hander has a 5.95 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 22:11 K:BB. It's unclear if Munoz will stay in the rotation, but the Marlins have lost Sixto Sanchez (shoulder) and Ryan Weathers (finger) in June, so they will need to dip into their starting depth.

  • Marlins' Roddery Munoz: In line to start Saturday

Munoz is likely to be recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville to start Saturday versus the Guardians, Nate Karzmer of Fishon First.com reports. The Marlins have an opening in their rotation with No. 5 starter Sixto Sanchez (shoulder) recently going on the injured list. Munoz has collected a 5.17 ERA and 19:7 K:BB over 15.2 innings covering three starts with the Marlins this season. He was roughed up for seven runs (six earned) in 6.1 innings in his most recent start for Jacksonville against Durham on June 1, but Munoz blanked Gwinnett over eight innings in his start before that back on May 26.
