At some level it’s cruel to put a golden retriever on a runway with dog treats and toys and expect it to bypass those fun things. You couldn’t think of three more enticing things to a dog than tennis balls, toy soccer balls and sausages. Fine, maybe squirrels, but that’s not the point.
It’s almost like asking a kid to dress up on Halloween, taking him outside on your local block, and then timing him to see how fast he can run past all the people handing out free candy. It’s not natural.
Anyway, stopwatch be damned, this retriever just wanted to taste everything there was to offer. Ask Air Bud and he probably thinks he won the race.
