Witkowski was waived by the Blues on Saturday, Jim Thomas of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
This transaction is the Blues' attempt to get Witkowski to AHL Springfield before the start of the season. The 32-year-old is likely just a depth defenseman for the Blues' organization this year and shouldn't be expected to see much NHL time.
