The Panthers and Robinson (hamstring) agreed to a one-year contract Monday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

A sixth-round pick of the 49ers in 2012, Robinson spent the last three seasons with Washington, developing into a competent starting safety. Among nine appearances last year, he earned eight nods, racking up 52 tackles (34 solo) and one interception, before he was placed on IR due to a hamstring injury. Upon landing in Carolina, he fills a clear need and will likely slot in at strong safety next to Kurt Coleman in a play-making defense.
