The Cowboys DST has a lot of work to do before Fantasy owners can trust it as a starting option, and this unit should not be drafted in the majority of leagues as a result. In 2016, the Cowboys DST was No. 17 in Fantasy points with nine interceptions, 36 sacks, 11 fumble recoveries and they held opponents to 306 points, which was No. 5 in the NFL. The points allowed helped the Cowboys DST finish in the Top 20, but they also were one of seven DST units without a touchdown last year. The secondary in Dallas will look different this season with Barry Church, Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne gone as free agents, but the Cowboys are hoping linebacker Jaylon Smith (knee) can make an impact this year. We'll see how the Dallas defense looks heading into training camp, but the Cowboys DST should not be drafted in the majority of leagues. If things start to improve for them, make it a waiver wire option during the year.
