Sanchez signed a one-year contract with the Pirates on Friday.
Sanchez hasn't played in a major-league game since 2021, but he posted a strong .311/.375/.492 slash line over 267 plate appearances with the Triple-A affiliate of the Diamondbacks in 2023. The 26-year-old could be a backup option at catcher for Pittsburgh in 2024.
