The Diamondbacks designated Sanchez for assignment Friday.
After the acquisition of Lourdes Gurriel and Gabriel Moreno from Toronto in exchange for Daulton Varsho, Sanchez ends up being the odd man out behind the plate for Arizona. The D-backs will almost certainly begin 2023 with Moreno and Carson Kelly at catcher, leaving little room for Sanchez. He recorded a .743 OPS in Triple-A last season and will more than likely get picked up by another team off waivers.
