Top Golden Knights News

  • Golden Knights' Brayden McNabb: Records helper Saturday

McNabb notched an assist in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Wild in Game 4.

This was McNabb's first point in four playoff outings in this series. He's gotten into some defensive trouble, though defense partner Shea Theodore hasn't been at his best early in the first round. McNabb has added four shots on net, six hits, 10 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating so far in the postseason.

  • Golden Knights' Mark Stone: Ends slump with helper

Stone notched an assist, four shots on goal and two blocked shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Wild in Game 4.

Stone ended a six-game slide, which also saw him sit out two contests for rest. The 32-year-old's postseason is off to a sluggish start with one helper, nine shots on net, six hits, five blocked shots and a minus-4 rating over four games. Despite his struggles, he remains in a top-line role and on the first power-play unit, giving him a good chance to turn things around if the Golden Knights can get control of this first-round series, which is tied at 2-2 after Saturday.

  • Golden Knights' Jack Eichel: Records power-play helper

Eichel notched a power-play assist, six shots on goal, four hits and a minus-2 rating in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Wild in Game 4.

Prior to Saturday, Eichel had fallen flat this postseason. The helper was his first point in four playoff games, and he's added 11 shots on net, 11 hits and a minus-7 rating while centering the top line as usual. With the Wild's top line and first power-play unit grabbing headlines, Eichel and the Golden Knights are fortunate to head back home with the series tied at 2-2. The 28-year-old will likely need to improve in the remainder of this series to avoid an early exit from the playoffs.

  • Golden Knights' Shea Theodore: Opens scoring on power play

Theodore scored a power-play goal on six shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Wild in Game 4.

Theodore has had a rough series defensively, but he made a key contribution on offense for the Golden Knights in this contest. His goal opened the scoring at 6:47 of the first period. The blueliner has recorded two power-play points, 10 shots on net, three blocked shots and a minus-5 rating over four playoff outings.

  • Golden Knights' Nicolas Roy: Two points in Game 4

Roy scored a power-play goal on two shots, dished an assist, added two PIM and doled out four hits in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Wild in Game 4.

Roy's first goal of the postseason tied the game at 2-2 early in the third period. He also set up Ivan Barbashev on the game-winning tally 17:26 into overtime. Roy has excelled in his usual versatile role, earning three points, five shots on net, five hits and a plus-1 rating over four playoff contests so far.

  • Golden Knights' Tomas Hertl: Lights lamp again in Game 4

Hertl scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist Saturday in the Golden Knights' 4-3 overtime win over the Wild in Game 4 of their first-round series.

Both points came in the third period as Vegas erased a 2-1 deficit. Hertl has been locked in to begin the playoffs. Through four games, he's delivered three goals and five points, including two power-play assists. The 31-year-old will look to keep rolling when the series shifts back to Vegas for Game 5 on Tuesday.

  • Golden Knights' Ivan Barbashev: Plays hero in Game 4

Barbashev scored the overtime winner and added a power-play assist Saturday in the Golden Knights' 4-3 victory over the Wild in Game 4 of their first-round series.

The 29-year-old winger helped set up Shea Theodore for the game's opening tally early in the first period, and Barbashev then played hero late in the first OT period, pouncing on a loose puck in front of Filip Gustavsson and banging it home. The points were the first of the playoffs for Barbashev, who wrapped up the regular season with 23 goals and 51 points in 70 appearances.

  • Golden Knights' Adin Hill: Snags OT win to even series

Hill made 29 saves Saturday in the Golden Knights' 4-3 overtime win over the Wild in Game 4 of their first-round series.

The 28-year-old didn't have much chance on any of the shots that beat him, all of which came from in close, and Hill was especially sharp in OT, turning aside 10 shots until Ivan Barbashev banged home the winner late in the first extra frame. Hill has allowed 13 goals on 89 shots (.854 save percentage) in the series so far, but the Golden Knights will still have a chance to reclaim the lead in Game 5 back in Vegas on Tuesday.

  • Golden Knights' Robert Hagg: Black Aces summoned from minors

Hagg was summoned from AHL Henderson on Saturday, per the NHL media site.

Vegas also promoted Matyas Sapovaliv, Tanner Laczynski, Raphael Lavoie, Dysin Mayo, Callahan Burke and Carl Lindbom to serve as Black Aces because AHL Henderson didn't qualify for the Calder Cup Playoffs. The Golden Knights likely won't use any of these players during the NHL postseason, barring a lengthy run of injuries. However, this will be a chance for them to soak up the playoff environment while being around the team.

  • Golden Knights' Adin Hill: Tending twine Saturday

Hill will guard the road goal in Game 4 against Minnesota on Saturday, according to Michael Russo of The Athletic.

After stopping 18 of 20 shots in a 4-2 win over the Wild in Game 1, Hill has allowed eight goals on 37 shots en route to two losses in his last two starts. Despite sitting 11th with 22.7 shots per game, Minnesota is tied for third with 4.00 goals per game this postseason.

  • Golden Knights' Zach Whitecloud: Puts up assist in loss

Whitecloud logged a shorthanded assist, two shots on goal, two hits and two PIM in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Wild in Game 3.

This was Whitecloud's second helper in his last five games. The 28-year-old defenseman has four shots on net, five hits, four blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating over three playoff contests. He produced 13 points, 72 shots on net, 117 hits, 103 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating in 74 regular-season outings, so he's likely to be more of a physical player than a scorer during the playoffs.

  • Golden Knights' Noah Hanifin: Provides assist in loss

Hanifin notched an assist and two shots on goal in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Wild.

Hanifin has earned a goal, two assists, seven shots on net, six hits and five blocked shots over three playoff contests. His defensive partnership with Alex Pietrangelo has been a strong area for the Golden Knights, though it hasn't been enough, as they're behind 2-1 in the series. Hanifin will continue to see top-four minutes on defense as well as power-play usage, giving him a strong chance of contributing on offense at least somewhat regularly.

  • Golden Knights' William Karlsson: Slings shorthanded helper

Karlsson logged a shorthanded assist in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Wild in Game 3.

Karlsson set up Reilly Smith's tally in the third period, but the Golden Knights couldn't build on that goal. The helper was Karlsson's first point in three playoff outings. The center has added three shots on net and a minus-1 rating so far in the postseason after logging 29 points, 119 shots on net and a plus-17 rating over 53 regular-season appearances.

  • Golden Knights' Reilly Smith: Nets shortie in loss

Smith scored a shorthanded goal on three shots and added three hits in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Wild in Game 3.

Smith snapped an eight-game goal drought with his third-period tally. That goal also ended a four-game stretch without a point for the veteran winger. He had 13 goals, 40 points, 129 shots on net and a plus-10 rating over 79 regular-season appearances between the Golden Knights and the Rangers in 2024-25. Smith is currently fill a third-line role and will likely continue to do so unless head coach Bruce Cassidy shuffles his lines after two straight losses.

  • Golden Knights' Alex Pietrangelo: Stays warm with goal

Pietrangelo scored a goal on two shots and added two hits in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Wild in Game 3.

Pietrangelo has gotten on the scoresheet in all three playoff outings so far, earning a goal, two assists, five shots on net, eight blocked shots and five hits. The 35-year-old has stepped up in a top-four role as a steady defensive presence while some of the Golden Knights' other blueliners have faltered under the playoff pressure. Pietrangelo likely can't keep up his recent scoring pace, but he's elevating his play at the right time of the season.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Makes relief appearance

Schmid stopped all nine shots he faced in relief of Adin Hill in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Wild in Game 3.

Schmid played the third period, and the only goal the Wild scored in that frame was an empty-netter. The 24-year-old has handled the backup duties in the playoffs over Ilya Samsonov. Schmid earned that role with three good starts in April while Samsonov was hurt. At this time, it doesn't look like Schmid is pushing to take over the starting role, but the Golden Knights are down 2-1 in the series and can ill afford another poor outing from Hill.

  • Golden Knights' Adin Hill: Pulled after two periods

Hill surrendered four goals on 21 shots over two periods of Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Wild in Game 3.

Hill gave up two of the goals on Wild power plays, and another came on a turnover, so it was another loss that isn't fully his fault. It's mildly interesting head coach Bruce Cassidy switched to Akira Schmid for the final frame, but it's unlikely to lead to a goalie controversy at this time. Hill has struggled behind an unusually sloppy defense so far, allowing 10 goals on just 57 shots over three playoff games. It's not a must-win game just yet, but Hill will need to be sharper in Saturday's Game 4.
