Zech and Patrick Kane were sent from the Blackhawks to the Rangers in Tuesday's three-team trade, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports. The Rangers sent two picks and Andy Welinski to Chicago in the deal. Zech has split the season between AHL Rockford and ECHL Indy, earning two points in 13 contests at the higher level with the IceHogs. He'll likely report to AHL Hartford, though it's unclear if the 24-year-old defenseman will ever perform well enough to get a look in the NHL.... See More ... See Less

Blackhawks' Cooper Zech: Flipped in minor-league deal
Zech was sent to the Blackhawks from the Flyers on Wednesday in exchange for Evan Barratt, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Zech went undrafted coming out of Ferris State University and has played primarily in the AHL since turning pro. With Lehigh Valley last year, the 23-year-old defenseman notched one goal and 10 helpers. Zech figures to report to AHL Rockford, where he likely will spend the bulk of the upcoming campaign.... Flyers' Cooper Zech: Activated, sent to AHL
Zech (upper body) was activated from injured reserve and assigned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Monday, per CapFriendly. Zech was initially expected to be sidelined 6-8 weeks after sustaining an upper-body injury in the preseason. He beat that timeline by about two weeks, but the 22-year-old will now log time with the Phantoms and should be on the list for call-ups when the Flyers need defensive reinforcements.... See More ... Blue Line Station@BlueLineStation4D agoThe winner of this Canes-Rangers series probably wins the cup. These are the two best teams in the NHL. This is the toughest hurdle either team will face.

Joe Fortunato@JoeFortunatoBSB6D agoAll that said, Rangers of old would have let this series drag to six or seven games. They didn’t. They put Washington down when they had their foot on their neck and that’s what great teams do. Rest up, reset, and hope Islanders Canes goes deeper.

Blue Line Station@BlueLineStation6D agoThat was NOT a convincing sweep. New York has a lot to clean up. Washington shouldn’t have been a playoff team and despite winning four straight, the Rangers made hard work of it. Against Carolina, assuming it is Carolina, they will be made to pay. Have to clean this up.
