    Knyzhov was released from his professional tryout agreement with the Penguins on Friday, per Matt Vensel of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

    Knyzhov had three goals, 14 points and 24 PIM in 40 contests with AHL San Jose in 2023-24. He also recorded an assist across 10 games with the Sharks. He might still land a two-way contract somewhere, but Knyzhov will almost certainly start 2024-25 in the minors.

    Knyzhov was bought out of his contract by the Sharks in June with a year remaining on that deal. Over the course of the last two seasons, the 26-year-old blueliner saw action in just 22 NHL contests, registering one goal, one assist and 16 shots to go with 24 hits and 33 blocks.
