Georgiev allowed two goals on 30 shots in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Jets in Game 2.
Georgiev turned in a good effort just one game after getting torched for seven goals on 23 shots. It didn't start well, as the Jets led 2-1 at the halfway mark, but the Avalanche had the last four goals of the contest. The 28-year-old's recent performance has been far from strong or consistent, so it'll be important for him to build on this outing as the series shifts to Denver on Friday for Game 3.

Avalanche's Alexandar Georgiev: Starting in Game 2
Georgiev is on track to guard the road goal during Tuesday's Game 2 versus Winnipeg, per John Lu of TSN.
Georgiev was horrendous in Game 1 on Sunday, allowing seven goals on just 23 shots en route to a 7-6 loss. If Georgiev struggles again in Game 2, the Avalanche could consider starting Justus Annunen (illness) or Ivan Prosvetov in Friday's Game 3.

Georgiev's struggles from late in the regular season seeped into the first playoff game. The seven goals allowed matched a season high -- he also gave up seven in a shutout loss versus the Golden Knights on Nov. 4. Georgiev has played 125 regular-season contests over the last two campaigns, so overwork is a real concern, especially with the obvious signs of diminished performance. It's unclear if head coach Jared Bednar will stick with Georgiev or turn to Justus Annunen (illness) for Tuesday's Game 2.

Avalanche's Alexandar Georgiev: Tending twine Sunday
Georgiev will get the starting nod for Game 1 in Winnipeg on Sunday, Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now reports.
Despite his recent struggles and overall poor performance this season, Georgiev will continue to be the team's top option in goal. Over his final seven appearances during the regular season, he went 1-3-2 a 4.95 GAA and an .851 save percentage. That poor stretch led to him finishing the year with a lackluster 3.02 GAA and .897 save percentage through 63 games. Georgiev hasn't earned a road victory since March 16 in Edmonton.

Avalanche's Alexandar Georgiev: Suffers OT loss
Georgiev stopped 26 of Vegas' 30 shots during Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss.
Georgiev played well for the majority of the game, but Vegas scored three goals in the third before taking the OT win. His recent performances haven't been inspiring. Over the last six games, Georgiev has allowed six goals twice and four goals three times, causing him to be pulled twice. It will be hard for fantasy managers to trust him when the playoffs start.

Georgiev allowed four goals on 15 shots before being replaced by Justus Annunen late in the first period of Saturday's 7-0 loss to the Jets.
The awful result was a team-wide effort by the Avalanche, and two of the goals against Georgiev came on Jets power plays while three of the four came from in close. Even so, the 28-year-old netminder has only one win in his last six outings, going 1-3-1 with a brutal 5.18 GAA and .848 save percentage. Colorado already has a playoff spot locked up, but the club's No. 1 goalie won't be taking much momentum into the postseason.

Georgiev started Saturday, but he didn't make it through the first period versus the Jets, allowing four goals on 15 shots. He dropped to 38-18-4 on the year, and he's now allowed four or more goals in four of his last six outings. He'll have another tough test Sunday against the Golden Knights, who have scored 21 goals over their last five games despite winning just twice in that span.

While it wasn't his busiest night, it's an encouraging performance from the 28-year-old netminder who'd gone 0-2-1 with an ugly .851 save percentage in his prior four outings. Overall, Georgiev improves to 38-17-4 on the year with an .899 save percentage and 2.95 GAA. The Avs are off until Saturday when they'll host the Jets.

Colorado head coach Jared Bednar said following Saturday's 7-4 win over Nashville that Georgiev will remain the Avalanche's starter heading down the stretch into the playoffs, Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now reports.
Bednar was critical of Georgiev's play Saturday. The goalie was pulled after giving up four goals in 21 minutes and picking up an unsportsmanlike penalty, as Nashville raced to a 4-2 lead early in the second period. Justus Annunen shut the door the rest of the way, but the head coach insisted there was no change to his goalie rotation.

Georgiev was off his game Saturday. He took an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty before being pulled just 57 seconds into the second period. Juuse Saros and Georgiev have been the busiest netminders in the NHL this season, and the Avs need their goaltender to rest a bit in advance of the postseason. Beware his schedule.
