  • Blue Jackets' Carson Meyer: Scores in garbage time

Meyer scored a goal on two shots and added six hits in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Golden Knights.

Meyer tallied with 12 seconds left in the game. It was his first point through seven appearances this season, as the 26-year-old winger has done little on offense from a fourth-line role. He's added nine shots on net, 22 hits and a minus-1 rating. Meyer shouldn't be expected to do much going forward, so he's not an option in the vast majority of fantasy formats.

Meyer saw action in 14 NHL games in 2022-23, picking up one assist over that span. The 25-year-old winger also potted nine goals and 17 assists in 34 games with AHL Cleveland. Look for Meyer to spend most of the 2023-24 campaign in the minors barring a plethora of injuries to the Blue Jackets.

Meyer registered an assist versus the Flyers on Tuesday, his first NHL point of the season in 14 contests. The 25-year-old Ohio native has been significantly more productive in the minors with 26 points in 31 contests. Given the lengthy injury list in Columbus, Meyer will likely be brought back up prior to Thursday's clash with Pittsburgh.

Meyer (upper body) won't return to Tuesday's game versus the Lightning.

Meyer was injured in the second period. He appeared to be in some distress on his last shift just before the Lightning scored. It's another injury on a long list of them for the Blue Jackets -- if he can't play Thursday versus the Hurricanes, the team may need to call up a forward.

  • Blue Jackets' Carson Meyer: Still looking for first point

Meyer recorded two PIM, one hit, one blocked shot and a plus-1 rating in Saturday's shootout win over the Hurricanes.

The checking-line winger has held down a regular spot in the lineup since late December, but Meyer is averaging barely 10 minutes of ice time over his last seven games and is still looking for his first point with Columbus this season. The 25-year-old displayed his upside earlier in the year with AHL Cleveland, racking up six goals and 18 points in 15 contests with a plus-10 rating, but Meyer's still adjusting to the speed of the NHL game.

  • Blue Jackets' Carson Meyer: Assigned to AHL

Meyer was assigned to AHL Cleveland on Wednesday, Brian Hedger of The Columbus Dispatch reports.

The 25-year-old made a strong push for a roster spot in Columbus during camp, but Meyer ultimately fell victim to a numbers game on the wing and to the fact that he didn't need to be exposed on waivers to be sent down. "This guy's done nothing but do exactly what you want a pro to do," coach Bad Larsen said Wednesday. "The difference I see in him, last year to this year, is that last year I don't know if he believed in himself. I think he was working hard and he was in the NHL. This year, I think he's starting to understand, 'I belong here. I can do this now.' " Expect Meyer to be among the first players called up when injuries hit the Jackets' forward ranks.

Meyer spent most of the 2021-22 season in the minors, collecting 16 goals and 27 points through 57 games with AHL Cleveland, but he also drew into 13 games with the big club, picking up three points over that span. The 24-year-old winger may have a slightly larger role with the Blue Jackets in 2022-23, but don't count on him developing into a viable fantasy option.

  • Blue Jackets' Carson Meyer: Pots first NHL goal

Meyer scored his first NHL goal and added an assist in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Flyers.

Meyer produced a pair of career firsts in short succession early in his second career NHL game. The 24-year-old winger notched his first career point by assisting on Brendan Gaunce's goal just 2:38 in, then one-upped that accomplishment by lighting the lamp himself a little more than 10 minutes later. Meyer had 16 goals in 56 games with AHL Cleveland prior to being promoted for the stretch run, so while he has some scoring touch, Meyer's probably not a guy you should be targeting on waivers at this point.
