Montour has matched his career high in goals (16), and he's surged to get there with six tallies over seven outings in March. He's also picked up three assists this month. The 30-year-old defenseman has occasionally looked like the Kraken's top blueliner this season, and this is one of his best stretches. Overall, he's at 37 points, 192 shots on net, 79 blocked shots, 70 hits and a minus-12 rating through 66 appearances, four points better than what he did in the same number of games in the 2023-24 regular season with the Panthers.

Kraken's Brandon Montour: Makes history in overtime win
Montour scored twice on three shots, dished two power-play assists, blocked two shots and added two PIM in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Canadiens.
Montour's second goal came just four seconds into overtime, the fastest tally from the start of overtime in NHL history. Chandler Stephenson won a faceoff and Montour rushed past a Montreal defender to fire home the game-winning goal from the slot, capping an impressive individual effort for the defenseman in this contest. This was his second four-point game of the season as well as his third multi-goal effort. He has five tallies and three assists over six outings in March, and Montour is up to 15 goals, 36 points (10 on the power play), 190 shots on net, 79 blocked shots, 69 hits, 43 PIM and a minus-15 rating through 65 appearances this season.

Montour scored on a one-timer from the right point early in the third period to seal the game at 4-1. He hasn't reprised his extraordinary 73-point heroics from the 2022-23 regular season, but he has been a steady presence on the Seattle blue line. Montour has 13 goals, 19 assists and 185 shots in 63 games, which puts him on pace to top 40 points for the second time in his career.

Montour recorded an assist in Sunday's 4-1 loss against Tampa Bay.
Montour's helper came late in the game on Shane Wright's goal to prevent the shutout. The 30-year-old Montour is up to 18 assists, 28 points and 166 shots on net in 58 appearances this season. Montour got off to a hot start this season with nine points in his first 10 games but has just seven points since the start of 2025, a span of 21 contests. It is encouraging to see him get back on the scoresheet, but he will need to showcase more consistent offensive output to get back to being a top defenseman for fantasy.

Kraken's Brandon Montour: Expected to play Saturday
Montour (upper body) is slated to return Saturday versus Florida.
Montour has 10 goals, 27 points, 37 PIM, 61 hits and 70 blocks in 56 appearances in 2024-25. He was injured during Seattle's 3-2 overtime win over Calgary on Feb. 8, but because of the 4 Nations Face-Off break, Montour didn't end up missing a full game.

Montour was hurt in the Kraken's last game before the 4 Nations Face-Off, but it looks like the break came at a good time for him and the team. The 30-year-old's status has yet to be officially updated, but his presence on the road trip bodes well for his availability Saturday against his former team, the Panthers.

Montour was injured in the first period and was unable to return. The 30-year-old defenseman's injury comes at a decent time -- the Kraken don't play again until Feb. 22 versus the Panthers, so he shouldn't miss any additional time if it's a short-term issue. If it ends up being a more serious injury, the Kraken will likely need to call up a defenseman, though they could fill the gap if Ryker Evans (upper body) gets healthy during the break.

Montour scored twice and blocked three shots in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Sharks.
Montour had been limited to five assists and a minus-13 rating over his last 20 outings. He snapped the goal drought at 2:54 of the second period with what was ultimately the game-winner, and he added a power-play tally after the Sharks brought in Alexandar Georgiev to replace Yaroslav Askarov. Despite the poor play over the last six weeks, Montour remains in a top-four role and still has good numbers overall. He's at 10 goals, 27 points, 147 shots on net, 62 blocked shots, 57 hits, 35 PIM and a minus-5 rating through 52 appearances.

Montour ended a nine-game point drought with his pair of helpers, one of which came on the power play. The Kraken's offense has been inconsistent, but it looks bad for Montour compared to his usual level of performance. Montour's pace on offense has dropped in recent weeks -- he has a somewhat modest four points over his last 11 appearances. He also has a minus-12 rating in that span, as the Kraken have too often struggled to keep the puck out of their own net. Montour is now at 23 points, 117 shots on net, 49 blocked shots, 48 hits and a minus-3 rating through 41 appearances in his first year with Seattle. He should still be able to surpass his 33-point performance from the 2023-24 regular season with the Panthers, but his fantasy utility is as a supporting defenseman rather than a league-winner.

Montour scored a power-play goal on two shots and went minus-2 in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Lightning.
Montour struck just 4:24 into the game for the opening goal, but the Lightning had a 2-1 lead less than nine minutes later. The goal was Montour's first since he scored in three straight games from Nov. 20-25. The defenseman is up to eight goals, 20 points (five on the power play), 93 shots on net, 40 hits, 34 blocked shots, 24 PIM and a plus-7 rating over 31 appearances this season. Vince Dunn has been on fire since he returned from an upper-body injury, so Montour is likely to remain on the second power-play unit for the time being.

He's providing high-end offense and well-rounded production for a blueliner, so he should be in the lineup regularly for most fantasy formats.
