Faulk helped out on goals by Pavel Buchnevich and Jordan Kyrou, with the latter's tally coming on the power play. This was Faulk's first game back after missing two due to an upper-body injury. The defenseman has six points over his last four outings, and he also earned his first power-play point since Dec. 10. For the season, the 32-year-old has 15 points, 68 shots on net, 48 hits, 52 blocked shots and a minus-7 rating over 38 appearances, but it looks like his offense is coming around.

Blues' Justin Faulk: Set to return Tuesday
Faulk (upper body) will return to the lineup Tuesday versus Minnesota, Jessi Pierce of NHL.com reports.
Faulk missed two games due to his injury, but he'll be available for an important divisional game in Minnesota. Faulk was unable to participate in Friday's game-day skate and will need to be further evaluated ahead of puck drop. While the blueliner is coming off a three-point performance versus Chicago on Dec. 31, that outing followed a 34-game goal drought during which he managed just seven helpers. Faulk slapped a one-timer in the second period from inside the blue line that went straight through traffic; it stood as the winner. Faulk has four points, including three assists, in his last three games and 13 points (two goals, 11 assists) in 37 outings overall. His fantasy value took a bit of a hit with the recent arrival of Cam Fowler, who took over the reins on PP1 and shuffled all other defenders down the depth chart. Faulk is headed toward a triple-digit season in shots, blocks and hits, so he may still offer value in deep formats.

Faulk has earned three helpers over his last 10 contests. The 32-year-old helped out on Zachary Bolduc's first-period tally. Faulk has not done a lot on offense this season, and while he held a spot on the first power-play unit for much of the campaign, the Blues' trade for Cam Fowler has bumped Faulk down the hierarchy for that role. Faulk is at 10 points, 60 shots on net, 50 blocked shots, 48 hits and a minus-6 rating over 35 appearances.

Faulk has two helpers over six outings since he returned from an upper-body injury that cost him two games. He remains in a prominent role, with top-four minutes and power-play time, and it doesn't look like the Blues' trade for Cam Fowler will hurt Faulk's usage. Still, Faulk has struggled a bit this year with nine points, 53 shots on net, 38 hits, 47 blocked shots and a minus-7 rating over 31 appearances, and the change in head coaches from Drew Bannister to Jim Montgomery hasn't had much of an effect on Faulk's production.

The non-scoring production has softened the blow of the slump, but fantasy managers may want to turn to a hotter hand to fill out their defensive depth.

The Blues scored three times over a span of 1:55 in the second period, and Faulk assisted on the first two goals during that flurry. The 32-year-old defenseman was limited to 30 points, 104 blocked shots and 83 hits over 60 contests in 2023-24 after missing time with various injuries. He's fully healthy to begin 2024-25, and he'll be picking up some of the scoring slack created in the absence of Torey Krug (ankle). Faulk scored a power-play goal on two shots, blocked three shots and went minus-2 in Tuesday's 3-1 preseason loss to the Blue Jackets.
Torey Krug (ankle) will miss all of 2024-25, leaving an opening on the Blues' top power-play unit. Faulk appears to have the inside track for that role, one he hasn't filled on a regular basis since 2018-19 with the Hurricanes. In 2023-24, Faulk produced just two goals, 30 points, 104 blocked shots, 83 hits and 132 shots on net over 60 contests while battling a handful of injuries. If he can stay healthy and receive steady power-play time over the likes of Scott Perunovich and Philip Broberg, Faulk makes for a strong sleeper candidate in fantasy drafts.
