Wild's Jared Spurgeon: Not on road trip
Spurgeon (lower body) will not be on the Wild's upcoming two-game road trip, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
Spurgeon has been out of action since Dec. 31 when he was hurt versus Nashville. He will miss Saturday's game in Nashville, as well as Monday's tilt in Colorado. Spurgeon has missed the last seven contests and has four goals and nine assists across 32 games this season.

Spurgeon (lower body) was designated for injured reserve Monday.
Spurgeon is expected to be on the shelf for 2-3 weeks due to his lower-body injury, so his placement on injured reserve shouldn't come as a surprise. With the extra roster spot, the Wild called up Carson Lambos from AHL Iowa to serve as an emergency depth option -- though it figures to be Travis Dermott who sees the biggest uptick in ice time with Spurgeon shelved.

Spurgeon was slew-footed by Zachary L'Heureux in the second period. The Wild captain had trouble getting off the ice, putting no weight on his right leg. He was seen leaving the arena in a leg brace and on crutches. An update on Spurgeon's status should be available prior to Thursday's game versus the Capitals. The veteran blueliner last found the back of the net on April 8, 2023, going 33 regular-season games -- plus six more playoff contests -- without a goal, but Spurgeon ended his drought midway through the second period when his shot attempt from in close deflected in off Connor Murphy's skate. Spurgeon's good puck luck didn't end there, though. Later in the frame, his seemingly harmless wrister from the blue line trickled into the net after Petr Mrazek failed to squeeze it with his glove. Spurgeon has eight points in 17 games on the season, adding 32 shots on net, 28 blocked shots, 12 hits and a plus-7 rating to his ledger.
