Over the past six years the only two players to win the Lady Byng Trophy have been Tampa Bay's Martin St. Louis and Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk. This year, we know that we're going to hear a different name called on June 20 at the NHL awards show in Las Vegas.

The NHL announced the finalists for the award on Monday and they are New York Islanders forward Matt Moulson, Edmonton Oilers forward Jordan Eberle, and Florida Panthers defenseman Brian Campbell.

The award is given out each year to "to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability."

The interesting name this year is Campbell, a defenseman, and if he's able to win it he will be just the third defenseman to ever win the award. Red Kelly, a Hall of Fame rearguard for the Red Wings and Maple Leafs won it three times between 1950 and 1954. He was also the most recent defenseman to win it, receiving the honor during the 1953-54 season.

The other defenseman was Hall of Famer Bill Quackenbush, having it won it as a member of the Red Wings during the 1948-49 season.

Campbell finished the season tied for second in scoring among defenseman with 53 points, played nearly 27 minutes per night, and recorded just six penalty minutes all season (the same number he had during the 2010-11 season as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks).

Moulson put together his third consecutive 30-goal season for the Islanders, scoring a career-high 36 goals while also being penalized in just two of the 82 games he played this season. Back on December 29 against the Calgary Flames he received two roughing penalties at the 19:35 mark of the second period for an exchange with Chris Butler. His only other penalty during the season was a high-sticking call all the way back in November.

Finally, Eberle was apparently the bad boy of the group finishing the season with a whopping 10 penalty minutes. He was also Edmonton's leading scorer with 76 points, a total that was good enough for 17th in the NHL.
