Chargers' Mark Webb: Signs futures deal
The Chargers signed Webb (knee) to a reserve/future contract Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Webb dealt with a knee injury during training camp and remained on the Chargers' practice squad throughout the entire 2022 campaign. He appears to be healthy now, and with his new contract, the 2021 seventh-round pick will have a chance to compete for a larger role during the upcoming offseason.

Chargers' Mark Webb: Not at practice
Webb (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Coach Brandon Staley indicated he is day-to-day. Either way, it's a discouraging sign for Webb, who saw just six defensive snaps in his rookie season last year. Once he returns from his knee issue, his best chance at a spot on the Chargers' 53-man roster is likely as a special teams contributor after Los Angeles added JT Woods at safety in the third round of this year's draft.

Webb spent just over a month on IR but was cleared to return to practice Wednesday. It's not yet clear whether the safety will be back on the field for Sunday's game against Denver.

Chargers' Mark Webb: Placed on IR
The Chargers placed Webb (knee) on injured reserve Friday, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
Webb underwent a knee procedure before being placed on injured reserve, but coach Brandon Staley said he expected him to return this season. With Webb out for at least three weeks and Alohi Gilman dealing with a quadriceps injury, the Chargers are extremely thin at safety behind Derwin James and Nasir Adderley.

Chargers' Mark Webb: Doubtful for Sunday
Webb (knee) is doubtful to play Sunday against the Steelers.
Webb was inactive last week against the Vikings and didn't practice this week, so it'd be quite a surprise if he ends up playing. If he can't go, then the Chargers would be extremely thin at safety considering Trey Marshall (ankle) is questionable and Alohi Gilman (quadriceps) is also doubtful.

Chargers' Mark Webb: Inactive Sunday
Webb (knee) will not play Sunday against the Vikings.
Webb normally plays a limited role, but with Nasir Adderley (ankle) also inactive, this is a big blow to the defense. Alohi Gilman and Trey Marshall will now see increased opportunity in the secondary.

Chargers' Mark Webb: Absent from injury report
Webb (hamstring) wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
The rookie seventh-round pick made the 53-man roster out of training camp. With Derwin James and Nasir Adderley in the fold, Webb is expected to mostly contribute on special teams to start the year.

Chargers' Mark Webb: Managing hamstring injury
Webb didn't practice Wednesday due to a hamstring injury, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
The Chargers haven't specified the severity of Webb's injury, but any absence could impact the rookie seventh-rounder's standing as he competes for a role in camp. Whether the 22-year-old will be available for Saturday's exhibition game against the Rams remains to be seen.
