Dawson Deaton: Let go by Browns
Deaton (knee) was waived by the Browns with a failed physical designation Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Deaton suffered a torn ACL in August of 2022 and is apparently still recovering from the issue. He'll first aim to get healthy and then search for a new opportunity around the league.

Browns' Dawson Deaton: Placed on IR
Deaton (knee) reverted to the Browns' injured reserve list Tuesday.
Deaton was waived with an injury designation last Thursday. He already had missed his rookie season after suffering a torn ACL during training camp last year and was not yet fully recovered. The 2022 seventh-round selection will now have to wait another year to make his NFL debut unless he's able to reach an injury settlement with the Browns.

Dawson Deaton: Waived with injury designation
The Browns waived/injured Deaton (knee) on Thursday, Chris Easterling of The Akron Beacon Journal reports.
A seventh-round pick last year, Deaton missed his entire rookie season with a torn ACL. He was doing drills off to the side during the spring. If he's not claimed off waivers, Deaton will revert to Cleveland's injured reserve list. There's a good chance he's eventually cut with an injury settlement. Deaton was let go to make room for CB BoPete Keyes.

Browns' Dawson Deaton: Rehab continues
Deaton (knee) was spotted working out on the sidelines of Cleveland's minicamp this week, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
The 2022 seventh-round pick missed the majority of the preseason and the entirety of the regular season after tearing his ACL on Aug. 15. Deaton's recovery process seems to be going well, though there is no current timetable for his return. Once he's fully healthy, the Texas Tech product will most likely compete for a depth spot on the Browns' offensive line.

Browns' Dawson Deaton: Lands on IR
The Browns placed Deaton (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
As expected, Deaton lands on IR after MRI results revealed a torn ACL and he will miss his entire rookie campaign. Starting center Nick Harris (knee) was also placed on IR, so Ethan Pocic and Brock Hoffman are projected to be the top two centers heading into Week 2 of the preseason.

Browns' Dawson Deaton: Suffers significant injury
MRI results revealed that Deaton suffered a torn ACL during the Browns' practice on Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Deaton will almost certainly be moved to Cleveland's injured reserve list this preseason, thus sidelining him for the entirety of the 2022 campaign. The rookie out of Texas Tech is now the second Browns center set to miss the upcoming regular season after starter Nick Harris similarly suffered a significant knee injury during the team's preseason opener Friday. Ethan Pocic, Hjalte Froholdt and Brock Hoffman should fill out the top three spots in this depleted position group for the Browns.

Deaton suffered a knee injury during Monday's practice and was carted off the field, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
The Browns' center position has taken a hit during camp. The team lost starter Nick Harris to a knee injury in the preseason opener against Jacksonville that could end his season, and now Deaton may have suffered a serious injury as well. Ethan Pocic was elevated to starting center, while Hjalte Froholdt was the first man up on the second team.

Browns' Dawson Deaton: Rocking with Cleveland
The Browns selected Deaton in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 246th overall.
A center out of Texas Tech, Deaton made 35 starts in his collegiate career. He's big for a center at 6-foot-5 and 306 pounds and could potentially slide to guard if necessary. Ethan Pocic's job is safe in Cleveland, so Deaton stands to develop as a backup early in his career.
