  • Jets' Ashtyn Davis: Re-ups with Gang Green

Davis agreed Thursday to re-sign with the Jets, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Davis, a 2020 third-round pick, suited up for all 17 regular-season games with New York last season. He mainly served in a reserve role in the Jets' defensive backfield and was a core special-teams contributor, totaling 37 tackles (23 solo), eight pass breakups, three interceptions and one forced fumble.

  • Browns' Justin Hardee: Finds new home

Hardee signed a one-year contract with the Browns on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Hardee has been a premier special teams contributor for the Jets each of the past seasons, working on kick and punt return coverage, including a Pro Bowl appearance in 2022. Considering he's only played one defensive snap in the last three seasons, he'll likely be expected to be used in the same role in Cleveland.

  • Jets' Jalyn Holmes: Re-ups with Jets

The Jets re-signed Holmes on Wednesday, John Pullano of the team's official site reports. Holmes tallied five tackles and one sack across five appearances with the Jets last season, though his first defensive snaps came in Week 18. He'll get another chance to compete for a reserve role along the Jets' defensive line in 2024.

  • Buccaneers' Bryce Hall: Agrees to terms with Tampa Bay

The Buccaneers signed Hall to a one-year deal Friday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. After spending the first four years of his career with the Jets, the 26-year-old cornerback has found a new home in Tampa Bay. Hall appeared in just nine games (two starts) in 2023, recording five total tackles and defending two passes, including one interception. He's expected to compete for a depth role in the Buccaneers' secondary throughout the offseason.

  • Jets' Solomon Thomas: Back with New York

The Jets re-signed Thomas on Friday, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports. The 28-year-old defensive lineman is now in line to remain in New York after spending the last two seasons with the Jets. Thomas has appeared in 34 games over the past two years, recording 53 total tackles, including 5.5 sacks (5.0 in 2023) and an additional 3.5 tackles for loss. The 2017 first-round pick has started just three games during his time in New York, so he'll likely compete for another depth role on the Jets' defensive line this offseason.

  • Browns' Quinton Jefferson: Finds new home

Jefferson (groin) signed a one-year contract with the Browns on Thursday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Jefferson will be playing for his fifth team in five years in 2024, after one-year stops with the Bills, Raiders, Seahawks and Jets. The veteran interior lineman had 34 combined tackles last season, including a career-high 6.0 sacks in 14 games, before suffering two ruptures to his groin, which required surgery and ended his season early.

  • Jets' C.J. Mosley: Agrees to rework deal

Mosley signed a new two-year, $17.25 million contract with the Jets on Thursday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Mosley was set to account for $21.5 million against the cap in 2024, but his new deal will save the team at least $8 million in space. As part of his new agreement, Mosley will receive an extra year on his contract, including $13.25 million in guaranteed salary.

  • Eagles' Bryce Huff: Headed to Philly

Huff is set to sign a three-year, $51.1 million contract with the Eagles on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Huff is coming off a 2023 campaign that saw him record a career-high 29 combined tackles and 10.0 sacks, which propelled him to sign what is expected to be the largest non-QB contract for an undrafted player in history. His presence should bolster a pass rush that finished 20th in the league last year with 43 sacks.

  • Jets' Chuck Clark: Staying in New York

Clark (knee) re-signed with the Jets on a one-year deal Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Clark missed the entirety of the 2023 campaign after suffering an ACL team during the team's offseason training program last summer. The veteran safety was acquired via a trade with the Ravens last March and had been penciled in as the Jets starter at strong safety before suffering the injury. He'll now get another opportunity in the Big Apple and should get another chance to be a starter in the secondary opposite Tony Adams.

  • Maalik Hall: Let go by New York

The Jets waived Hall (undisclosed) on Friday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports. Hall missed all of the Jets' 2023 campaign due to an undisclosed injury and the team has since decided to move on from the 25-year-old. The Southeastern Oklahoma State product has yet to appear in an NFL game after recording 77 total tackles, including 11.5 tackles for loss, during his final collegiate season.

  • Jets' Michael Carter: Nine passes defensed in 2023

Carter finished the 2023 season with 50 tackles (37 solo) and nine passes defensed over 15 games. Carter was among the league's top performing nickel cornerbacks while Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed patrolled the outside for a Jets secondary that allowed the fewest catches, receiving yards and touchdowns to wide receivers in 2023. While Carter's 50 tackles were a career low, he posted nine passes defensed for a second consecutive season. The 2021 fifth-round draft pick is expected to reprise his role in the slot in the final year of his rookie contract in 2024.

  • Jets' D.J. Reed: Formidable CB trio with Sauce, MCII

Reed finished the 2023 season with 76 tackles (62 solo) and one interception among his nine passes defensed in 15 games. Sauce Gardner, Reed and nickel cornerback Michael Carter formed the league's stingiest cornerback trio. Reed is the senior member of that group at age 27, and he has been remarkably consistent, posting between 76 and 80 tackles and between nine and 12 passes defensed in each of his last three seasons. All three cornerbacks are projected to be back in 2024, with Reed entering the final year of his contract with the Jets.

  • Jets' Will McDonald: Quiet rookie season

McDonald finished his rookie season with 3.0 sacks among his 14 tackles (nine solo) while adding a forced fumble and a fumble recovery over 15 games. Despite being a first-round selection (15th overall) in the 2023 NFL Draft, McDonald was limited to a reserve role on the Jets' deep defensive line in his first NFL campaign. There were questions about his ability in run support entering the NFL given his 6-foot-3, 241-pound frame, and McDonald was used primarily as a pass-rush specialist in 2023, but he was outclassed in that role by Bryce Huff (10.0 sacks) while failing to exceed 30 percent of defensive snaps in any game. With Huff set to become an unrestricted free agent, McDonald could see a bump in usage in 2024, and the Jets will be hoping he progresses similarly to 2022 first-round draft pick Jermaine Johnson, who jumped from 2.5 sacks as a rookie to 7.5 in his second season.

  • Jets' John Franklin-Myers: Finishes 2023 with 3.5 sacks

Franklin-Myers posted 3.5 sacks among his 33 tackles (15 solo) and added three passes defensed over 17 games in 2023. Franklin-Myers is overshadowed by some bigger names on the Jets' defense, but he's a key contributor in his own right. JFM didn't miss a game in 2023 and played more than half of the team's defensive snaps in all but three games. His ability to shift between the edge and interior should allow Franklin-Myers to reclaim a prominent role on New York's defensive line in 2024.

  • Jets' Bryce Huff: Set to be UFA after 10-sack season

Huff finished the 2023 season with 10.0 sacks among his 29 tackles (19 solo). He also had one pass defensed. Huff struggled to earn consistent playing time in his first three NFL seasons due to his deficiencies defending the run, but he was among the league leaders in pass-rush win rate. The 25-year-old edge rusher saw the field more frequently in 2023 -- playing between 37 and 54 percent of snaps in each of the final 14 games -- and continued to get to the quarterback at an elite rate. Huff's pass-rushing prowess is likely to earn him a substantial raise as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

  • Jets' Jermaine Johnson: Breaks out in second season

Johnson had 7.5 sacks among his 55 tackles (36 solo) in 2023, while adding seven passes defensed, including an interception that he returned for a touchdown. Johnson's 37-yard pick six in Week 17 against the Browns was the cherry on top of a breakout sophomore season in which the 2022 first-round draft pick showed off his versatility with 7.5 sacks and seven passes defensed. Johnson's expected to maintain a starting role on the edge in 2024.

  • Jets' Sauce Gardner: Rarely challenged in second season

Gardner finished 2023 with 57 tackles (41 solo) and 11 passes defensed. Gardner's box score stats were less impressive in his second season compared to his rookie campaign -- when he led the league with 20 passes defensed -- but that was due primarily to a lack of opportunities, as opposing quarterbacks rarely challenged the standout cornerback. Gardner was a first-team All-Pro for the second time in as many years and is already the best cover corner in the NFL, though he'd like to add more interceptions to his ledger.

  • Jets' Quinnen Williams: Just 5.5 sacks in 2023

Williams finished the 2023 season with 5.5 sacks among his 62 tackles (39 solo) while adding an interception among his three passes defensed. Even with 2.0 sacks in the season finale against the Patriots, Williams finished with his lowest total in that category since his 2.5-sack rookie season in 2019. The standout defensive tackle was named to the Pro Bowl nonetheless, as Williams set a new career high in tackles and picked up his first interception in the Week 6 win over the Eagles. Williams' presence on the interior frees up the team's pass rushers on the edge, and the engine that drives New York's defense will be back in 2024.

  • Jets' Tony Adams: Starts 15 games in 2023

Adams finished the 2023 season with 82 tackles (54 solo) and seven passes defensed, including three interceptions. After posting just 17 tackles in his rookie season, Adams played a much larger role in his second NFL campaign. The 24-year-old safety started in all 15 of his appearances and finished strong, with two of Adams' interceptions coming in his last three games. He'll be back with the Jets in 2024, though the team could bring in competition for the starting free safety role.

  • Jets' Jordan Whitehead: Three tackles shy of 100 in 2023

Whitehead (calf) finished the 2023 season with 97 tackles (65 solo) and four interceptions among his nine passes defensed. Whitehead picked off Josh Allen three times in Week 1, and while he notched only one interception the rest of the season, the starting strong safety was a key contributor in the Jets' elite secondary. He set new career highs in tackles and passes defensed while appearing in all 17 games, though Whitehead exited the season finale due to a calf injury. Once the calf is healed, Whitehead will likely generate plenty of interest as a free agent, with the Jets among his potential suitors.
