The Vikings had their first practice with full pads on Monday afternoon, and while the hitting was limited, the effect of it was not:

Another DB down
Coach Leslie Frazier said that DB Robert Blanton tweaked his hamstring a bit, and that the staff would see how he was doing after practice.

Harvin down but not out
WR Percy Harvin jammed his finger and missed several reps in the passing drills. But he returned to action and finished practice — which Frazier said “was good to see.”

No injury love for Demarcus
DeMarcus Love did not suit up for practice, as he was nursing an injured shoulder. “It is going to take another week or two before we get him back on the field. So he will be out for a little while,” said Frazier.

Allen vs. Kalil, Round 1
Frazier said he enjoyed the much anticipated matchup between rookie LT Matt Kalil and DE Jared Allen.

“[It was a] good matchup,” said Frazier. ”[I’m] looking forward to continually watching that over time. Matt held his (own) for the most part. There was a couple times that Jared got around him, but that is to be expected.”

Blair makes the Ring
The Vikings announced that former Viking LB Matt Blair will be inducted in the team’s Ring of Honor at halftime of the Oct. 25 game against Tampa Bay. Blair said at Monday’s Viking practice that he was very honored and a little surprised when he got the call.

“I thought they (called) to do an interview, I didn’t think I was going to be inducted to the Ring of Honor for the Vikings,” Blair said. “I came down and they said that this morning and I was very emotional, very touched by it. It is an honor to be a part of the other 19 guys, I think I’m number 20, so it’s good to be on that team.”
