Redskins Notebook: Status of RGIII uncertain; Jordan Black suspended

Redskins QB Robert Griffin will continue to receive treatment on his sprained right knee, though coach Mike Shanahan said he's still not sure when he'll return to practice. And OT Jordan Black has been suspended for four games by the NFL for use of PEDs.

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will continue to receive treatment on his sprained right knee, though coach Mike Shanahan said he's still not sure when he'll return to practice.

Griffin did not play in Sunday's 38-21 win over Cleveland. Shanahan said Griffin will start the minute doctors clear him, even after backup quarterback Kirk Cousins played so well.

"If the doctors give him the OK, he's going to play," Shanahan said.

OL shuffle: Center Will Montgomery (knee) and right tackle Tyler Polumbus (concussion) are uncertain for this week, as well.

Shanahan did not want to update Montgomery's status other than to say he has a sprained MCL in his left knee. Polumbus missed the second half Sunday with a concussion and must undergo a series of daily tests before he can play Sunday. Redskins guard Kory Lichtensteiger said he's optimistic both will play.

Gone: Offensive tackle Jordan Black, who subbed for Polumbus Sunday, has been suspended four games for using performance enhancing drugs, according to the NFL. Black, lured out of retirement this summer, is ineligible to play the final two regular season games. He would be unable to play in the postseason unless the Redskins win their first two playoff games.
