The Raiders won four games and missed the playoffs for the 10th straight season, but they still had some star power. Here are the 2012 RapidReports MVPs for the Raiders.
Offense -- QB Carson Palmer: Despite missing the last game after suffering cracked ribs and a bruised lung at Carolina, Palmer passed for 4,018 yards -- second-most in franchise history -- in a season behind Rich Gannon's 4,689 in 2002. Palmer completed 345 of 565 passes (61.1 percent) with 22 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
Defense -- OLB Philip Wheeler: A free-agent pickup from Indianapolis, Wheeler led the team with 150 tackles and played 1,015 snaps, more than any other Raider on defense. Wheeler, one of the defense's most versatile players, had a career-high three sacks, broke up six passes, forced two fumbles and recovered a fumble.
Special teams -- K Sebastian Janikowski: A year after making the Pro Bowl for the first time, Janikowski turned in another stellar season and was named an alternate for the game. He made 31 of 34 field goals, his only misses coming from 64, 61 and 51 yards. He was the AFC's special teams player of the month for October.
Newcomer -- OLB Miles Burris: The rookie from San Diego State started every game and finished third on the team in tackles with 138, 84 of those solo. Burris, a fourth-round draft pick, had 1.5 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble. He also broke up three passes. Midway through the season he became an every-down player and finished with 867 snaps.
