  • Marko Simonovic: Parting ways with Chicago

Simonovic will be waived by the Bulls on Thursday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Simonovic signed a three-year deal with the Bulls in August of 2021, but he saw minimal run with the NBA club. He made just 16 appearances over the past two seasons, averaging 1.4 points in 3.4 minutes per game. He'll now seek out other opportunities ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Simonovic generated 18 points (6-12 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal across 26 minutes in Windy City's 126-115 win over College Park on Thursday. The big man put an exclamation point on a successful tenure with Windy City by posting his second double-double in the final three contests. Simonovic finished the campaign with averages of 15.9 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 52.4 percent from the field, including 39.3 percent from three-point range.

  • Bulls' Marko Simonovic: Strong showing in loss

Simonovic provided 17 points (6-14 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and nine rebounds across 31 minutes in Windy City's 93-89 loss to Maine on Tuesday. The big man had been reassigned to Windy City on Saturday and worked back in with nine- and 13-point tallies that were accompanied by 11 rebounds apiece in the previous two games. Simonovic has typically been a highly reliable source of scoring and rebounding at the G League level all season and should continue thriving during what's left of the campaign.

  • Bulls' Marko Simonovic: Back to NBA

Chicago recalled Simonovic to the NBA club from the G League's Windy City Bulls on Friday. Simonovic, Javonte Green (knee) and Dalen Terry were all assigned to the G League earlier Friday and presumably went through practice before getting sent back to the NBA club later in the day. Simonovic has appeared in only three NBA contests this season, so his availability shouldn't impact Chicago's rotation.

Simonovic continues to overpower most G League frontcourts, as he's now recorded three double-doubles in the last four games alone. Simonovic compiled 26 points (9-17 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-7 FT), 21 rebounds, two assists and one block across 31 minutes in Windy City's 121-120 loss to Westchester on Sunday. The young big has been taken his production to another level of late, putting together consecutive double-doubles and three straight double-digit scoring performances overall. Sunday's rebounding total was also a season high for Simonovic, who is encountering little resistance from opposing G League frontcourts for the most part.

  • Bulls' Marko Simonovic: Strong all-around showing in win

Simonovic tallied 17 points (7-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-3 FT), nine rebounds and two assists across 28 minutes in Windy City's 123-108 win over Westchester on Sunday. The big man returned to Windy City on Feb. 22, and after mustering a six-point, 14-rebound effort in his first game the following day, Simonovic broke out with a much more productive performance. The 23-year-old has been quite the force on the glass with 8.9 rebounds per contest, and he's generally been a reliable source of scoring as well with 15.7 points per game on 53.6 percent shooting, including 42.6 percent from distance.

  • Bulls' Marko Simonovic: Heads back to G League

The Bulls assigned Simonovic to the G League on Wednesday. Simonovic was summoned from the G League prior to the All-Star break and logged a pair of minutes in the team's final contest of the first half versus Milwaukee. However, he has just three NBA contests under his belt this season and hasn't played more than two minutes, so he will likely continue to move between the levels so he's ready if called upon.

  • Bulls' Marko Simonovic: Recalled by Chicago

Simonovic was recalled from the G League's Windy City Bulls on Wednesday. Simonovic spent the last two weeks in the G League but will rejoin the parent club ahead of a back-to-back before the All-Star break. He's appeared in just two NBA matchups this year and has averaged 1.5 minutes per game. However, Chicago will be without Derrick Jones (groin) and DeMar DeRozan (thigh) in the frontcourt Wednesday against Indiana, so it's possible Simonovic sees some playing time behind Patrick Williams.

  • Bulls' Marko Simonovic: Hot from three in Monday's win

Simonovic totaled 27 points (10-13 FG, 7-10 3Pt), nine rebounds, one assist and two steals across 39 minutes in Windy City's 115-112 win over Grand Rapids on Monday. The big man was nearly perfect from the field and turned in a blistering effort from behind the arc. Simonovic was less productive in Tuesday's loss with a 3-for-12 showing from the field, but he still churned out an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double. The center should continue to play a key role for the Bulls following the All-Star break.

Though he'll be rejoining the NBA team, it's unclear if Simonovic is healthy enough to suit up for the Bulls' next game Tuesday against the Clippers. Simonovic's last appearance in either the G League or the NBA came on Jan. 19, as he's otherwise been sidelined with a right neck strain for the past week and a half.

  • Bulls' Marko Simonovic: Won't play Saturday

Simonovic will not take part in Saturday's game versus the Magic due to a right cervical strain. Simonovic has spent a lot of time with the Bulls' G League affiliate, appearing in only two games for a total of three minutes for Chicago. After being sent back to the G League on Tuesday, it seems Simonovic is back with the big club, likely to receive treatment from Chicago's doctors. It's unclear at this point how much time he will require to gain clearance for his return, but Simonovic's absence shouldn't affect the Bulls' rotation.
