Mooney signed a contract Monday with Spanish club Unicaja Malaga. After beginning the season in the G League with Capitanes de Ciudad de Mexico, Mooney earned a call-up to the NBA in late December with the Knicks, who signed him to a pair of 10-day deals while the team was shorthanded due to COVID-19-related absences. Mooney appeared in only game for the Knicks before his second 10-day deal expired in early January. Rather than returning to the G League, Mooney elected to pursue options overseas, ultimately settling on the Spanish club for the next stop of his career.... See More ... See Less

Matt Mooney: Time over with Knicks
The Knicks didn't re-sign Mooney after his 10-day contract expired Monday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Mooney is expected to return to the G League's Mexico City Capitanes following his three-week stay in the NBA over the course of two 10-day deals. The 24-year-old guard made just one two-minute appearance during his time with New York.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Matt Mooney: Plans to sign another 10-day
The Knicks plan to sign Mooney (not injury related) to another 10-day hardship contract Friday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports. Mooney is currently listed as not with the team, but he's expected to stick with the Knicks for another 10 days. He only made one appearance -- playing two minutes -- during his first contract, so he isn't expected to crack fantasy relevancy during his second contract.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' Matt Mooney: Signs 10-day contract
Mooney signed a 10-day contract with the Knicks on Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Mooney spent time with the Mexico City Capitanes of the G League to begin the season, and he averaged 15.0 points, 6.4 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 32.9 minutes per game. He'll serve as additional depth for the shorthanded Knicks.... See More ... See Less -
Matt Mooney: Goes for 22 points
Mooney registered 22 points (8-16 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, two assists and a steal across 37 minutes in Saturday's win over Greensboro. Mooney did a good job on offense this time around and while he shot from deep wasn't accurate, he still provided decent offensive numbers. He was one of three players that scored at least 20 points for Capitanes in this matchup.... See More ... See Less -
Matt Mooney: Shines off bench Monday
Mooney posted 22 points (8-15 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five assists, four rebounds and three steals across 32 minutes off the bench in Monday's loss to Rio Grande. Mooney came off the bench but still dazzled and ended as the team's second-highest scorer, just behind Gary Clark who ended with 31 points. Mooney is averaging 14.0 points per game, but it's worth noting he has scored in double digits in all of his eight appearances so far.... See More ... See Less -
Matt Mooney: Puts up 10 points
Mooney recorded 10 points (4-9 FG, 2-3 3Pt), three rebounds and two steals across 29 minutes in Thursday's loss to Austin. Mooney has scored in double digits in every game so far this season, but he hasn't been an efficient scorer. Despite putting up 13.0 points per game, he's shooting 39.1 percent from the field and a meager 16.7 percent from deep.... See More ... See Less -
Matt Mooney: Goes for 17 points
Mooney recorded 17 points (7-14 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, three assists and a steal across 27 minutes in Thursday's loss against Lakeland. Mooney has scored in double digits in every one of his four appearances to date, and while he's been a solid scorer, he needs to improve on his efficiency. Despite Thursday's solid effort, he's only making 38.3 percent of his shots this season.... See More ... See Less -
Matt Mooney: Solid all-around effort
Mooney recorded 10 points (5-14 FG, 0-3 3Pt), six rebounds, four assists and two steals across 35 minutes in Tuesday's win over Lakeland. Mooney was one of five Mexico City players to score in double digits in this game, though his value in fantasy terms went beyond his scoring figures thanks to a strong all-around effort. Mooney has scored in double digits in each of his three games this season while also adding at least five boards and at least four assists in each of those contests as well.... See More ... Matt Mooney: Stuffs stat sheet Friday
Mooney recorded 12 points (4-12 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five rebounds, five assists and three steals across 31 minutes in Friday's win over Memphis. Mooney didn't have his best shooting night, but he looked good across the board and did more than just scoring in this one. The former Texas Tech standout had a strong game in his season debut for the Captains.... See More ... See Less -
Matt Mooney: Brings down nine rebounds
Mooney contributed 18 points (7-15 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine assists and two rebounds across 32 minutes in Thursday's 115-93 win over G League Oklahoma City. Mooney entered Thursday's game averaging 19.9 minutes per contest, but he started this contest and tied with Alize Johnson for the team lead in playing time. The 23-year-old also led the team in assists. Through 12 contests, Mooney has recorded 7.0 points and 4.0 assists per outing.... See More ... See Less -
Matt Mooney: Big night from long range
Mooney contributed 22 points (7-10 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), eight assists and two rebounds across 28 minutes in Wednesday's 138-107 win over G League Delaware. Mooney came off the bench and was nearly automatic from beyond the arc. He finished tied with Alize Johnson for the team high in points. The 24-year-old is now averaging 10.6 points per game while hitting 42.3 percent of his field goals in the G League.... See More ... See Less -
Matt Mooney: Waived by Cleveland
Mooney was waived by the Cavaliers on Saturday, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Mooney was on a two-way deal, so there's a good chance he sees G League action with the Canton Charge.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Matt Mooney: Starts, scores 13 in win
Mooney totaled 13 points (4-11 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, three assists, and two steals in Sunday's G League win over Fort Wayne. Mooney put up a pretty standard game by his standards. He is averaging 13.1 points per game with 3.7 rebounds, and five assists across 39 G League contests this season.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Matt Mooney: Has perfect night in win
Mooney scored 16 points, (6-6 FG, 4-4 3Pt, 0-0 FT) and added three rebounds, eight assists and four steals in Friday's G League win over Windy City. Mooney couldn't miss while contributing 29 minutes off the bench. He also led Canton in assists and steals on the evening.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Matt Mooney: Gets two-way deal from Cleveland
Mooney will sign a two-way contract with the Cavaliers, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports. The undrafted rookie out of Texas Tech has averaged 12.5 points and 4.8 assists across 24 games with the G League's Memphis Hustle this season. His two-way deal allows him to spend up to 45 days at the NBA level, but Mooney is likely to see most of his action with the Cavs' G League affiliate, the Canton Charge.... See More ... See Less -
Matt Mooney: Hot shooting night
Mooney tallied 28 points (10-13 FG, 7-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three assists, two steals and one rebound across 28 minutes of G League action during Monday's 110-107 loss to Agua Caliente. It was Mooney's best shooting performance of the season, hitting 76.9 percent of his field goals, including a 7-for-9 barrage from beyond the arc for a season-high 28 points. The 22-year-old had been averaging 11.0 points per game over his past five contests prior to Monday's outburst. His highly-efficient performance was not enough, though, as his teammates shot a combined 5-for-26 from deep and dropped their fourth game of the season. Mooney won't add much value outside of scoring, but he'll continue to see high usage as one of the Hustle's best options from long range.... See More ... See Less -
Matt Mooney: Season-high 23 points
Mooney posted 23 points (8-12 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five assists, four steals, two rebounds and a block across 40 minutes during Wednesday's 107-95 G League win over the Skyforce. Mooney logged a season-high 40 minutes Wednesday and chipped in his highest point total of the season. The 22-year-old's big night may have been a byproduct of Josh Jackson's suspension as well as a shallow roster while Memphis deals with a number of injuries. Mooney looks to remain a common contributor for the Hustle moving forward, as he's averaging 12.6 points, 4.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 steals across 32.0 minutes in 13 games this year.... Matt Mooney: Scores 20 in win
Mooney posted 20 points (8-15 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists and three steals across 34 minutes of G League play during Tuesday's 116-110 win over the Suns. Mooney has started all but two games in his first G League season since going undrafted out of Texas Tech earlier this year. Through nine games, the 22-year-old has scored 11.8 points on 42.4 percent shooting while adding 5.1 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.8 steals over 30.9 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Matt Mooney: Plays 31 minutes off bench
Mooney dropped 17 points (7-14 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT) to go along with four rebounds, three assists and three steals across 31 minutes during Friday's win over Stockton. Mooney had a hard time finding his rhythm from three-point land, but he found other ways to contribute as evidenced by his secondary stats. He played 31 minutes compared to starter De'Anthony Melton, who struggled from the field (3-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt) Friday. The playing time situation should be monitored moving forward to track if the trend continues or if it was merely an isolated incident.... See More ... See Less
