Matt Mooney: Finds work in Spain
Mooney signed a contract Monday with Spanish club Unicaja Malaga.
After beginning the season in the G League with Capitanes de Ciudad de Mexico, Mooney earned a call-up to the NBA in late December with the Knicks, who signed him to a pair of 10-day deals while the team was shorthanded due to COVID-19-related absences. Mooney appeared in only game for the Knicks before his second 10-day deal expired in early January. Rather than returning to the G League, Mooney elected to pursue options overseas, ultimately settling on the Spanish club for the next stop of his career.

Matt Mooney: Time over with Knicks
The Knicks didn't re-sign Mooney after his 10-day contract expired Monday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
Mooney is expected to return to the G League's Mexico City Capitanes following his three-week stay in the NBA over the course of two 10-day deals. The 24-year-old guard made just one two-minute appearance during his time with New York.

Knicks' Matt Mooney: Plans to sign another 10-day
The Knicks plan to sign Mooney (not injury related) to another 10-day hardship contract Friday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Mooney is currently listed as not with the team, but he's expected to stick with the Knicks for another 10 days. He only made one appearance -- playing two minutes -- during his first contract, so he isn't expected to crack fantasy relevancy during his second contract.

Knicks' Matt Mooney: Signs 10-day contract
Mooney signed a 10-day contract with the Knicks on Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Mooney spent time with the Mexico City Capitanes of the G League to begin the season, and he averaged 15.0 points, 6.4 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 32.9 minutes per game. He'll serve as additional depth for the shorthanded Knicks.

Mooney registered 22 points (8-16 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, two assists and a steal across 37 minutes in Saturday's win over Greensboro.
Mooney did a good job on offense this time around and while he shot from deep wasn't accurate, he still provided decent offensive numbers. He was one of three players that scored at least 20 points for Capitanes in this matchup.

Mooney has been a reliable scoring threat for Mexico City and has scored in double digits in each of nine appearances to date, reaching the 15-point plateau in four of those contests. He's been far more than just a scorer, though, and the stats back that up. Through nine appearances with Capitanes, Mooney is averaging 14.6 points, 6.9 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game.

Mooney came off the bench but still dazzled and ended as the team's second-highest scorer, just behind Gary Clark who ended with 31 points. Mooney is averaging 14.0 points per game, but it's worth noting he has scored in double digits in all of his eight appearances so far.

Cavaliers' Matt Mooney: Gets two-way deal from Cleveland
Mooney will sign a two-way contract with the Cavaliers, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports.
The undrafted rookie out of Texas Tech has averaged 12.5 points and 4.8 assists across 24 games with the G League's Memphis Hustle this season. His two-way deal allows him to spend up to 45 days at the NBA level, but Mooney is likely to see most of his action with the Cavs' G League affiliate, the Canton Charge.

Matt Mooney: Hot shooting night
Mooney tallied 28 points (10-13 FG, 7-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three assists, two steals and one rebound across 28 minutes of G League action during Monday's 110-107 loss to Agua Caliente.
It was Mooney's best shooting performance of the season, hitting 76.9 percent of his field goals, including a 7-for-9 barrage from beyond the arc for a season-high 28 points. The 22-year-old had been averaging 11.0 points per game over his past five contests prior to Monday's outburst. His highly-efficient performance was not enough, though, as his teammates shot a combined 5-for-26 from deep and dropped their fourth game of the season. Mooney won't add much value outside of scoring, but he'll continue to see high usage as one of the Hustle's best options from long range.
