  • DJ Stewart: Silenced by Rio Grande Valley

    Stewart registered two points (0-9 FG, 0-3 3PT, 2-2 FT) and one rebound in 22 minutes of Sunday's 110-105 loss to the Vipers. Stewart was awful Sunday, failing to connect on any of his nine field goal attempts and finishing with a team-worst negative 14 plus-minus. His struggles limited him to just 22 minutes in the elimination loss as Sioux Falls opted to give Justin Champagnie more action off the bench. Though Stewart's 2022-23 campaign had a bitter ending, the season as a whole was largely a success for the 23-year-old, who logged a career-high 21.1 points per game in the regular season.

    Stewart secured 27 points (9-19 FG, 2-5 3PT, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, four assists a steal and a block in 40 minutes of Thursday's 98-97 win over Stockton. Stewart paved the way for Sioux Falls on Thursday, leading all scorers with 27 points while dishing out four assists.     Stewart signed a contract with the Heat on Friday, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports. Stewart was claimed by Miami after being let go by the Mavericks earlier this week, but the expectation is that he'll be waived Saturday before ultimately ending up back in the G League. Last season with the G League's Sioux Falls Skyforce, Stewart averaged 14.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals per contest.
