Gafford logged zero points (0-3 FG), one rebound and one assist in nine minutes during Tuesday's 96-93 victory over the Clippers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Gafford got the starting nod but managed just nine minutes in the victory. Given the Mavericks' depth at the center position, Gafford's role is likely to hinge on individual matchups. Over the first two playoff matchups this year, he's averaged just 1.5 points in 11.5 minutes per game. With the series now level at 1-1, the Mavericks will head home as they attempt to seize the upper hand.... See More ... See Less

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Checks back into game
Gafford (back) returned to Tuesday's Game 2 against the Clippers with 7:54 remaining in the second quarter. Gafford was deemed questionable to return after sustaining a lower back injury, but he returned to the court after missing approximately one quarter. The 24-year-old big man will look to make a bigger impact than he did in Game 1, when he tallied just three points and zero rebounds.... See More ... See Less -
Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Questionable to return Tuesday
Gafford is questionable for the remainder of Tuesday's Game 2 against the Clippers due to a lower back injury. Gafford recorded no stats in three minutes of action before exiting Tuesday's contest with 8:34 remaining in the first quarter due to a lower back injury. If Gafford is unable to return, Dereck Lively will likely serve as Dallas' primary center.... See More ... See Less -
Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Will play in series opener Sunday
Gafford (elbow) is not on the official injury report and will be available for Game 1 of the opening-round series against the Clippers on Sunday. With Dallas already locked into its playoff matchup, Gafford didn't play in the Mavericks' final game of the regular season. He shouldn't have any limitations for the playoff opener against the Clippers. He averaged 9.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game over his last 10 appearances and should continue to start at center, though Dereck Lively (knee) will also be available.... See More ... See Less -
Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Ruled out for Sunday
Gafford is out for Sunday's game against the Thunder due to right elbow soreness. The Mavericks have already clinched a postseason berth and a matchup against the Clippers in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs, so they're not going to risk Gafford, who has been the team's starting center since being acquired from the Wizards via trade before the deadline. Gafford ends the regular season with averages of 11.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game while shooting 78 percent from the field in 29 appearances (21 starts) with Dallas.... See More ... Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Notches 26 points in win
Gafford posted 26 points (12-12 FG, 2-4 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal over 25 minutes during Tuesday's 130-104 win over Charlotte. Gafford matched his career-best mark with 26 points on the night. He's been remarkably efficient, hitting 79.7 percent of his shots over his last 10 appearances. He's also on pace to be one of six players in NBA history to shoot over 70 percent for the entire season.... See More ... See Less -
Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Forceful down low in victory
Gafford notched 10 points (5-7 FG, 0-2 FT), 15 rebounds, five assists and three blocks across 31 minutes during Friday's 108-106 win over the Warriors. Gafford took the fewest shots among Dallas' starters but made a big impact in other areas. The big man led all players with 15 rebounds and three blocks and even contributed as a passer with five dimes. Gafford's 31 minutes were his most since joining the Mavericks in early February, and he logged his first double-double since March 25.... See More ... See Less -
Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Swats five shots
Gafford racked up six points (3-4 FG), four rebounds, three assists, five blocks and one steal over 22 minutes during Sunday's 125-107 win over the Rockets. This was Gafford's 14th career game with at least five blocks, and he needed only 22 minutes to do it Sunday. He's been terrific for Dallas lately, averaging 12.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.5 blocks over his last 10 games.... See More ... See Less -
Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Delivers defensive show
Gafford ended with 13 points (6-7 FG, 1-2 FT), 11 rebounds, five assists, five blocks and two steals over 27 minutes during Monday's 115-105 victory over the Jazz. Gafford tallied seven combined steals and blocks, capping off another impressive performance. After an up-and-down start to his tenure in Dallas, Gafford has been a revelation over the past two weeks, putting up first-round value with averages of 14.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 2.5 blocks. It appears he is locked in as the preferred starting center, a welcome sight for any fantasy managers who have him on their roster.... See More ... See Less -
Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Highly efficient in win Thursday
Gafford had 24 points (10-11 FG, 4-6 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and one steal over 27 minutes during Thursday's 113-97 victory over the Jazz. Gafford missed just one shot in the contest and finished as Dallas' leading scorer behind Luka Doncic. The big man also unexpectedly contributed as a passer, setting a season high with five assists. Gafford has been a big difference-maker since coming over to the Mavericks in a Feb. 8 trade with Washington, and he's started eight straight contests, logging double-digit points in all but one of those games. He also leads the NBA in field-goal shooting at 71.4 percent on the campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Grabs 15 boards Thursday
Gafford notched 19 points (8-11 FG, 3-3 FT), 15 rebounds, one assist and one block in 26 minutes during Thursday's 126-119 loss to the Thunder. Gafford saw his streak of 33 consecutive made field-goal attempts come to an end in the first minute of the contest when he missed a putback attempt, but he still came through with another efficient game and delivered his second-best scoring performance since joining the Mavericks at the trade deadline in February. He also paced the Mavericks in rebounds while seeing a larger share of the minutes at center than Dereck Lively (14 minutes) and Maxi Kleber (21 minutes), the latter of whom saw more time at power forward.... Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Swats seven shots Wednesday
Gafford posted 10 points (5-5 FG), six rebounds, one assist, seven blocks and two steals across 26 minutes during Wednesday's 109-99 win over Golden State. Gafford was efficient on both ends of the court, making each of his five field goal attempts, crashing the glass and helping defensively. Undoubtedly, the blocks tally stands out, and he ended just one shy of tying his career-high mark in that department. The efficiency also merits a mention, as he's now gone five straight games without missing a single field goal. He'll have a tough time extending that streak Thursday against Chet Holmgren and the Thunder.... See More ... See Less -
Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Makes history with efficiency
Gafford ended with 20 points (9-9 FG, 2-3 FT), seven rebounds, two blocks, one assist and one steal across 23 minutes during Monday's 127-92 win over the Bulls. Gafford has now made 28 consecutive shots across his last four games, representing the longest streak in the play-tracking era. The streak is a testament to the high-quality, easy looks he receives in the paint, but his scoring is nonetheless a testament to his prowess as a finisher. He remains stuck in a timeshare at center with Dereck Lively when the two players are available, but there was room for both to feast Monday, as Lively finished with 22 points on 11-for-12 shooting from the field.... Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Perfect from field Saturday
Gafford ended Saturday's 142-124 victory over the Pistons with 17 points (7-7 FG, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and four blocks over 24 minutes. With Dereck Lively (personal) away from the team, Gafford returned to the starting lineup and was impressive on both ends of the court Saturday, hitting each of his seven attempts from the field, showing energy on the glass and establishing himself as a disruptive presence on defense. Gafford should hold a secondary role in an offense led by Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, but he'll continue to have value if he remains efficient with his limited touches, as he'll find a way to get his numbers in the rebounding and blocking categories providing he gets enough minutes. Since completing the trade from Washington to Dallas, Gafford has averaged 9.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting an impressive 73.5 percent from the field.... See More ... Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Modest numbers in Thursday's start
Gafford totaled 12 points (5-5 FG, 2-4 FT), seven rebounds, one block and one steal over 21 minutes during Thursday's 114-108 win over the Heat. The former Wizard made his first start since Feb. 14, but the shift in roles didn't impact Gafford's minutes or production. Dereck Lively left the game in the fourth quarter with a calf injury, however, and that could have a much bigger impact on Gafford's numbers if the issue proves to be a serious one for the younger center. Over 11 games since joining the Mavericks, Gafford's averaging just 17.6 minutes a contest with 9.3 points, 7.1 boards and 1.4 blocks.... See More ... See Less -
Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Starting Wednesday versus Miami
Gafford will replace Dereck Lively in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Heat, Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News reports. Gafford double-doubled in 21 minutes off the bench Tuesday, so things are trending in a positive direction. It's possible that his sudden uptick in minutes has been matchup based, as Dallas has been going up against more traditional frontcourts, but either way, Gafford is worth grabbing in fantasy to see how much longer the good times last.... Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Growing pains on display
Gafford closed with zero points (0-1 FG), four rebounds and two steals over 13 minutes during Sunday's 120-116 loss to the 76ers. Gafford has the makings of a seamless fit with superstar pick-and-roll operators Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, but he seems to be well-covered by opposing defenses and struggling to find rhythm in coach Jason Kidd's rotations. Logging 14 minutes across the Mavericks' past two contests is too short of a leash for Gafford, making him a bounce-back candidate in what should be a high-octane affair Tuesday against Indiana.... Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Shines against former team
Gafford closed with 16 points (7-13 FG, 2-3 FT), 17 rebounds, two assists, five blocks and two steals across 24 minutes during Monday's 112-104 victory over Washington. Gafford faced the Wizards for the first time since being traded, and the big man feasted against his former team, delivering a massive double-double and filling the stat sheet admirably. This was Gafford's first start with Dallas since being acquired before the deadline, and it wouldn't be surprising if he stays in this role moving forward, especially with Dereck Lively (nose) still sidelined.... Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Starts in revenge game
Gafford is in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Washington, Mark Followill of Bally Sports Southwest reports. Gafford gets his first start with the Mavericks against his former team, four days after Washington traded him to Dallas. He is joined by fellow new addition P.J. Washington in the Mavericks' starting lineup Monday, with Derrick Jones and Maxi Kleber heading to the bench while Dereck Lively (nose) remains inactive.... See More ... See Less -
Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Impresses in debut
Gafford supplied 19 points (7-11 FG, 5-6 FT), nine rebounds and one block across 17 minutes during Saturday's 146-111 win over Oklahoma City. Gafford played 17 minutes off the bench, falling just one rebound short of a double-double. In his first game for the Mavericks, Gafford immediately endeared himself to the fans with his hustle and tenacity on both ends of the floor. While it remains to be seen just what his role will look like when the team is healthy, he is worth holding in all standard leagues for now.... See More ... See Less
