Player Outlook
Some may write off Michael Harris's 2023 struggles as a prototypical sophomore slump, but it is not that easy. Harris was being taken as early as the end of the second round last winter but finished the season just inside the top 100 overall and just inside the top 70 for hitters based on our final earned auction values. Harris got injured early in the season and he took awhile to shake off the rust to resume his production. He did perform better against lefties than he did as a rookie, but what ultimately limited his 2023 production was hitting 9th in 88 of the 138 games he played. It is incredibly tough for a high round draft pick to max out their production out of the bottom of the lineup. On another team, Harris is likely hitting high in the lineup most days but Atlanta has more traffic on its depth chart than it does on its local highways. It would take an injury to someone else to get Harris into the top half of the lineup, so do not go back to the second or third round well.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Keeps raking Thursday

Harris went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox. The 23-year-old center fielder took Tanner Houck deep in the fifth inning, giving Harris his third homer of the spring in seven games. He's batting .444 (8-for-18) with a double and a steal in addition to his long balls, and while Atlanta seems confident Ronald Acuna (knee) will be ready for Opening Day, if he's forced to miss any time, Harris could find himself hitting leadoff rather than ninth to begin the campaign.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Homers to kick off spring

Harris went 2-for-3 with a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays. The 22-year-old center fielder went yard to lead off the game on the first pitch he saw from minor-leaguer Nathan Wiles. Harris will likely be hitting down toward the bottom of a stacked Atlanta lineup when the regular season begins, but he still scored 76 runs over 138 games in 2023 while mainly batting ninth, so that assignment is only a yellow flag for his RBI totals from a fantasy perspective. Harris still offers 20-20 upside, and perhaps even more if he takes a step forward with his production in his third MLB campaign.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Slides to ninth in order

Harris will start in center field and bat ninth Monday in Game 2 of the NLDS versus the Phillies. Harris batted sixth in Atlanta's Game 1 loss and will now plummet to the bottom of the batting order for the first time since Sept. 19. He was Atlanta's No. 9 hitter for much of the season, however, making 88 starts at that spot while making no more than 13 starts out of any other lineup spot. Harris batted .301/.334/.494 out of the nine hole during the regular season.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Homers twice in twin billing

Harris went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Phillies in the second game of a doubleheader. After going 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Monday's matinee, Harris added two more hits and a solo blast off left-hander Gregory Soto in the nightcap. The 22-year-old Harris has been on a tear, hitting safely in 14 of his last 15 games while going 22-for-59 (.373) with four homers and a 1.038 OPS in that span. After a very slow start to the season, Harris' slash line is now up to .295/.337/.477 with 16 homers, 68 runs scored, 50 RBI and 20 stolen bases across 467 plate appearances.

The second-year center fielder finished August with a four-game hitting streak during which he went 8-for-17 with three RBI, three runs and a stolen base. Overall, Harris slashed .336/.372/.522 with four homers, 16 RBI, 22 runs and seven thefts over 29 games during the month.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Fills box score Friday

Harris went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, two stolen bases and three runs scored in Friday's 5-1 win over the Giants. Harris was the driving force for Atlanta's offense in this win. He opened the scoring with a solo shot in the first inning, then added an RBI single in the sixth. The outfielder has gone 11-for-47 (.234) since Aug. 12 but has had a pair of big games in that span. For the season, he has a .287/.333/.456 slash line with 12 homers, 19 steals, 41 RBI, 57 runs scored, 20 doubles and three triples through 104 contests.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Back in lineup Monday

Harris (foot) will play center field and bat second Monday versus the Mets in his return to the lineup. Harris was scratched ahead of Sunday's loss to the Giants due to a bruised right foot, but X-rays came back clean and he'll wind up missing just one start. The young outfielder has assumed the second spot in Atlanta's batting order since Ozzie Albies (hamstring) landed on the injured list.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: X-rays negative

Harris (foot) underwent X-rays that came back negative Sunday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. Harris was scratched from Sunday's lineup due to a right foot contusion, and he doesn't appear to be dealing with any structural damage after undergoing further testing. It's unclear whether he'll be available for Monday's series opener against the Mets, but he should tentatively be considered day-to-day ahead of the matchup.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Scratched with foot contusion

Harris was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants due to a right foot contusion. Kevin Pillar will bat seventh and man center field in place of Harris, who is considered day-to-day after fouling a ball off his foot in Saturday's 6-5 win, per Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Atlanta will begin a six-game week Monday, so fantasy managers in weekly leagues will want to verify Harris' availability -- or lack thereof -- when the team releases its lineup prior to the 7:20 p.m. ET start time for the series opener with the Mets.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Swipes 14th bag

Harris went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Pirates. Atlanta's nine-hole hitter racked up his third straight multi-hit performance and fifth in eight August contests. Harris continues to erase his tough beginning to the campaign -- as late as June 11 he had a batting average below the Mendoza Line at .190, but since then he's slashed an incredible .380/.407/.620 over 47 games with eight homers, nine steals, 24 RBI and 33 runs.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Goes yard twice in win

Harris went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Angels. He broke open a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fifth inning by taking Patrick Sandoval deep, the center fielder's first long ball in almost a month and the first homer the Angels hurler had served up to a left-handed hitter in nearly two years. Harris then drove a Jacob Webb sweeper to straightaway center in the seventh to cap the scoring for Atlanta. Despite the power outage, Harris has stayed productive since the beginning of July, slashing .304/.345/.544 in his last 24 games with four homers, four steals, eight RBI and 11 runs.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Swipes 12th bag

Harris went 2-for-4 with his 12th stolen base of the season in Sunday's loss to the White Sox. Atlanta's offense got stymied by Dylan Cease and the Chicago bullpen, but Harris still found a way to be productive. The 22-year-old has cooled off a bit in July, batting .243 (9-for-37) over his last 11 games, but he's still added two homers, three steals, five RBI and six runs to his ledger during that stretch.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Steals bag No. 10

Harris went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Marlins. The steal was his 10th of the season, and fifth since June 12. Harris was ice cold at the plate to begin the year but the 22-year-old has caught fire over the last month, slashing .407/.416/.674 in his last 23 contests with 12 extra-base hits (six doubles, a triple and five homers).

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Swipes another bag

Harris went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Twins. It's the fourth multi-hit performance in the last nine games for Harris, as the 22-year-old continues his remarkable turnaround after a brutal start to the season. The center fielder held a .490 OPS on June 6 -- in 20 games since, he's slashing .434/.443/.737 with five homers, four steals, 14 RBI and 15 runs.

Atlanta homered five times in its first 10 plate appearances Tuesday off Joe Ryan, with Harris launching his with one out in the second inning. The 22-year-old outfielder has completely shaken off his early season struggles in June, and over his last 19 games Harris is slashing an eye-popping .425/.434/.740 with five of his seven homers and 14 of his 22 RBI on the year.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Explodes for big game in win

Harris went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, a walk, two total runs and three total RBI in a 7-5 victory versus the Mets on Wednesday. It's been a struggle in 2023 for Harris, but for one night at least he looked every bit the dynamic player that won NL Rookie of the Year honors last season. Harris was instrumental Wednesday in leading Atlanta to a comeback win, doubling home a run to tie the score in the sixth inning and producing the game-winning runs with a two-run shot to center field in the eighth. This was just his third multi-hit game of the season, and the three RBI were the most he's logged in a contest so far this year. Harris had been mired in a 3-for-29, 12-strikeout stretch coming into the game, and he's still slashing a paltry .181/.261/.291 overall.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Launches second homer

Harris went 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Phillies. His fifth-inning shot off Taijuan Walker gave Atlanta its only lead of the game. Harris is beginning to show signs of breaking out of his prolonged slump, but in 22 games since returning from the injured list he's still slashing only .169/.250/.296 with both his homers and two of his four steals on the season.
