  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Placed on 60-day IL

Arizona recalled Fletcher from Triple-A Reno and placed him on the 60-day injured list Monday with a fractured left index finger. Fletcher suffered the injury while playing for Reno and was placed on the affiliate's 7-day IL on Aug. 24. By recalling Fletcher and adding him to the major-league IL, the Diamondback will be able to open up another 40-man roster spot for southpaw reliever Andrew Saalfrank, whose contract was selected from Reno. Fletcher is now officially done for the season after he had been productive during his time in the majors earlier on in 2023, slashing .301/.350/.441 with two home runs and 14 RBI across 102 plate appearances.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Lands on minor-league IL

Fletcher (undisclosed) was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Reno on Thursday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports. Fletcher was optioned to Reno in early July and has maintained a .252 average with seven home runs, 25 RBI and 35 runs scored in 31 games since. Those numbers were achieved in a hitter-friendly environment, though it's still possible he'll get another chance in Arizona before the close of the campaign. However, this injury will decrease that likelihood.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Optioned to Reno

Arizona optioned Fletcher to Triple-A Reno on Friday. Fletcher had gone 4-for-15 with zero extra-base hits since being recalled to the majors June 30. This demotion seems like good news for the status of Corbin Carroll's right shoulder, though the Diamondbacks have also called up outfield prospect Dominic Canzone.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Opportunity could close

Fletcher started in right field and went 1-for-4 in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Angels. Fletcher made a third straight start in place of Corbin Carroll, who has been dealing with a shoulder injury since last Thursday. Carroll served as a pinch hitter Sunday and could rejoin the team Tuesday, which would curb Fletcher's at-bats. It's unclear how the Diamondbacks will adjust the lineup once Carroll is ready, as they currently have six outfielders on the roster. Presumably, either Fletcher or Kyle Lewis will head back to Triple-A Reno.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Fills in for Carroll

Fletcher started in left field and went 1-for-4 in Friday's 6-2 win over the Angels. Fletcher, who was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Friday, filled in for the injured Corbin Carroll, who suffered a shoulder injury and was removed from Thursday's game. Fletcher was up with the Diamondbacks earlier this season after the team demoted Alek Thomas and was initially quite productive. He had a 1.231 OPS through the first two weeks before tailing off (.427 OPS) over the subsequent two weeks. Arizona also recalled outfielder Kyle Lewis from Reno on Friday, so the outfield will be a crowded place once Carroll is ready.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Called up Friday

Fletcher was called up from Triple-A Reno on Friday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. Fletcher will return to the major-league roster after being sent down in late May and batting .328 with two doubles, a triple, seven RBI, 14 runs and a stolen base over 13 Triple-A games since his demotion. He's compiled a .308/.349/.474 slash line with eight extra-base hits, including two homers, over 85 plate appearances with Arizona in 2023, but Fletcher had been in a 6-for-39 (.154) slump when sent back down. The 24-year-old will face off with his brother David Fletcher and the Angels upon his return to the big leagues Friday.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Replaces optioned Thomas

Fletcher started in center field and went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Athletics. Fletcher was prominent on both ends. After nailing Tony Kemp at home plate in the seventh inning to preserve a 3-3 tie, he scored Arizona's final run as part of a two-run ninth inning. Fletcher moved into the center field spot that was once held by Alek Thomas, whom the Diamondbacks optioned to Triple-A Reno on Wednesday. The former had usurped at-bats from Thomas since being called up at the end of April and now will become the primary center fielder.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Sleeper hitters for Week 8 (May 15-21)

Dominic Fletcher is on quite a heater right now, having homered twice and driven in a combined nine runs between Friday and Saturday. It's almost a no-brainer to recommend him, then, with the Diamondbacks having the second-best hitter matchups this week, but he probably isn't a power hitter long-term and isn't a lock to play every day either.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Hits first big-league bomb

Fletcher went 3-for-4 with one double, one home run, four RBI and one run scored in Friday's 7-5 win over the Giants. Fletcher had a breakout game, accounting for over half of Arizona's runs by himself. The outfielder's three-run blast in the second inning tied the game at 3-3, after traveling 428 feet in the air. The 25=year-old couldn't be off to a hotter start, slashing .457.486/.629 through 11 games.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Heads to bench Wednesday

Fletcher is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins. Following his promotion from Triple-A Reno on April 30, Fletcher sat out that day but proceeded to start in the outfield in each of the next seven games, going 9-for-25 with a 2:6 BB:K. Fletcher benefited in part from the Diamondbacks facing a lefty-heavy schedule, and while he should be a mainstay in the lineup versus southpaws, consistent playing time against right-handers could be more difficult to come by while Arizona is at full strength in the outfield.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Makes third straight start

Fletcher started in left field and went 1-for-4 in Friday's 3-1 win over the Nationals. Fletcher, who was in the starting lineup for a third straight game, has hit safely in all four games (5-for-14) since being called up from Triple-A Reno. With Corbin Carroll returning from a knee injury, it had been assumed Fletcher's run in the starting lineup would end, but Carroll served as the DH on Friday while Lourdes Gurriel was rested. Eventually, when the Diamondbacks feel comfortable with Carroll playing the outfield, Fletcher's playing time should diminish.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Getting start

Fletcher will start in right field and bat sixth Wednesday against the Rangers. Fletcher is receiving a second straight start while Corbin Carroll (knee) recuperates. The rookie reached base three times and plated a run in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to Texas.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Knocks in run

Fletcher started in right field and went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Rangers. Fletcher, who made his first MLB start Tuesday, has appeared in both games since being called up from Triple-A Reno on Sunday. His opportunities should dry up when Corbin Carroll (knee) becomes available. That could happen Wednesday, after Carroll received a positive MRI result and took batting practice Tuesday. Fletcher is another lefty bat in an outfield dominated by left-handed hitters.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Being recalled from Triple-A

The Diamondbacks will recall Fletcher from Triple-A Reno on Sunday, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports. No corresponding transaction has been announced, but this very well could be related to the health of Corbin Carroll after Carroll left Saturday's game with a knee bruise sustained while colliding with the left-field wall. In 93 at-bats thus far with Reno, Fletcher has hit .323 with three homers and a steal while registering a .976 OPS.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Optioned to Triple-A

Fletcher was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday. Fletcher spent most of last season in Triple-A as well, slashing .301/.368/.447 across 449 plate appearances. If he is able to produce similar numbers to begin the 2023 season, there is a good chance he makes his major-league debut at some point, though he would have to compete with Corbin Carroll, Alek Thomas and Jake McCarthy for time in the D-backs' outfield.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Scorching all season long

Fletcher is hitting .331/.407/.548 with four homers and a 17:28 BB:K through 31 games for Triple-A Reno. He put together a .346/.408/.591 line over 32 games in Double-A before getting promoted, and Fletcher hasn't missed a beat at the higher level. The younger brother of the Angels' David Fletcher, Dominic is similarly undersized at 5-foot-9 but has a little more pop in his bat; he's already hit more homers this year (11) than David ever has in a single campaign. The 24-year-old outfielder has made significant progress with his plate discipline, cutting his strikeout rate from 24.8 percent in 2021 to 18.5 percent this year -- a major factor in his improved results.

  • Diamondbacks' Dominic Fletcher: Added to taxi squad

Fletcher will be on Arizona's taxi squad, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports. The 22-year-old outfielder and younger brother of Angels infielder David Fletcher hit .318/.389/.463 in 55 games at Low-A last year. While he could move fairly quickly through the minors, he probably won't get notable MLB playing time in 2020.
