Sheets went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 7-6 win over the Twins. He took Pablo Lopez deep in the first inning, giving the White Sox an early 5-0 lead that they barely managed to avoid squandering. Sheets snapped an 18-game homer drought with the blast, a stretch dating back to Aug. 18 in which he slashed a meager .156/.191/.222. The 27-year-old has taken over as the regular right fielder for Chicago against right-handed pitching, and while hits have been hard to come by lately, Sheets does have eight RBI in his last six contests. On the season, he has a weak .627 OPS with 10 homers and 40 RBI in 299 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less

White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Snaps homer drought in loss
Sheets went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 4-3 loss to the Cubs on Wednesday. Sheets gave the White Sox a 3-0 lead in the fifth frame with a two-run blast, but the team's bullpen couldn't seal the deal in the late innings. The long ball was Sheets' first since June 16, a span of 33 games. The veteran has seen his playing time decline as his bat has been cold. Since June 20, he's slashing a meager .178/.241/.247 with one homer, seven RBI, three runs and a 5:17 BB:K over 32 contests.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Losing playing time to Colas
Sheets is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. On the bench for the fourth time in six games, Sheets appears to have moved into a bench role in the wake of the White Sox bringing aboard another lefty-hitting corner outfielder in Oscar Colas from Triple-A Charlotte. Colas has gotten off to a slow start at the plate since being recalled, but he'll likely get some time following the All-Star break to try and right the ship since Sheets wasn't provided ample production in a strong-side platoon role. Since turning in back-to-back two-hit games in the middle of June, Sheets has gone 5-for-33 at the dish over his last 14 contests.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Sitting versus lefty
Sheets isn't in the White Sox's lineup Saturday against Oakland. Left-hander Kyle Muller will take the mound for Oakland to begin Saturday's contest, so the left-handed Sheets will remain in the dugout. Yasmani Grandal will fill in as Chicago's designated hitter, allowing Seby Zavala to start behind the plate and bat eighth.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Sitting against lefty

White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Sitting against lefty
Sheets is out of the lineup Monday versus the Angels. Eloy Jimenez will take a turn as the DH and Clint Frazier will cover right field as the White Sox face off against left-hander Reid Detmers. Sheets has drawn only six plate appearances this year versus southpaws, compared to 175 plate appearances against righties.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Sitting against southpaw
Sheets is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers. With the White Sox facing off against a southpaw (Martin Perez), the lefty-hitting Sheets will head to the bench for the second time in the series. Clint Frazier will replace Sheets in right field and bat seventh.... See More ... See Less -

White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Goes deep in loss
Sheets went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Mariners. Sheets opened the scoring in the fifth inning with a solo shot off Bryan Woo. This was Sheets' first multi-hit effort in June -- he had gone just 2-for-22 (.091) over his previous nine contests. The 27-year-old's slump has him down to a .229/.307/.410 slash line with eight homers, 23 RBI, 16 runs scored and two doubles through 52 games. Sheets has seen a majority of the time in right field lately, but Eloy Jimenez should return to that spot when he's ready to play the field, while Clint Frazier could also be a competitor for playing time.... White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Sitting out vs. lefty
Sheets is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins. Sheets typically sits out against southpaws, and the 27-year-old will open Sunday's game on the bench with lefty Braxton Garrett on the mound for the Marlins. Jake Burger will be the designated hitter and hit fifth Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Gavin Sheets: On bench against lefty
Sheets is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers. As is typically the case, the lefty-hitting Sheets will take a seat against a southpaw (Eduardo Rodriguez), but Sheets could soon see his opportunities against right-handed pitching come to an abrupt end. The White Sox reinstated Eloy Jimenez (appendectomy) from the 10-day injured list Sunday, and he looks poised to reclaim a regular role in right field moving forward with Jake Burger likely having established himself as an everyday player at designated hitter at this point. Burger could pick up reps at second base while Elvis Andrus (oblique) is sidelined, but until that happens, Sheets looks like he could be blocked from seeing steady playing time versus righties.... White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Drives in three
Sheets went 1-for-3 with a double and three RBI on Saturday against the Tigers. Sheets came to the plate with the bases loaded in the seventh inning and cleared the bases with a double. He has only one multi-hit game since the start of May, though his knocks have been timely, as he has 13 RBI across his last 22 games. Sheets' regular role is in danger, as Eloy Jimenez (abdomen) could return as early as Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Sitting versus lefty

White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Swats seventh homer
Sheets went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to the Tigers on Thursday. Sheets accounted for Chicago's only extra-base hit in the contest, going deep to right field in the fifth inning. The 27-year-old has been struggling and playing sparingly of late, going 2-for-11 without an extra-base hit over the previous stretch. Part of that was due to a recent wrist injury, but Sheets has also been limited to a platoon role this season, seeing just four at-bats against southpaws.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Dealing with wrist injury
Sheets is out of the lineup Saturday with a wrist injury, Brian Sandalow of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Sheets was a late scratch from the lineup Saturday due to a minor right wrist issue from sliding, The injury doesn't appear likely to sideline him for long and Sheets could be back in the lineup as soon as Sunday's series finale with Kansas City.... White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Scratched from lineup
Sheets (undisclosed) was scratched from Saturday's lineup versus the Royals. It's unclear why Sheets was removed from the lineup and more information will likely come Saturday. Adam Haseley will now draw the start in right field and bat eighth against Kansas City.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Sitting against lefty
Sheets is absent from the White Sox' lineup for Thursday's game against the Guardians. Cleveland is throwing left-hander Logan Allen, so Sheets will sit in favor of Jake Marisnick. Sheets has homered in two straight games but hasn't made a start against a southpaw this season.... See More ... See Less -

Sheets broke the game open Tuesday, pushing the White Sox' advantage to 4-0 in the fifth inning by launching a three-run homer off Shane Bieber that scored Yoan Moncada and Andrew Vaughn. Sheets didn't reach base safely once outside the long ball while striking out once. Since Eloy Jimenez (abdomen) was placed on the 10-day injured list, Sheets has hit .258 with three home runs, seven RBI and four runs scored over nine games.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Drives in three runs
Sheets went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer in a win over the Reds on Sunday. Sheets put the cap on a massive 11-run second inning with his three-run shot. It was his third long ball of the year and first since April 22. He'd been stuck in a 5-for-31 (.161) slump since that last homer. Sheets improved his slash line to .258/.315/.394 through 23 contests.... See More ... See Less
