Duplantier signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Thursday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Duplantier hasn't pitched in the majors since 2021, and he owns a 5.05 ERA across 103.1 innings in the minors over the past two seasons. He'll likely report to Triple-A Syracuse to begin 2024 and give the Mets organizational rotation depth.... See More ... See Less

Phillies' Jon Duplantier: Sent to minors
The Phillies reassigned Duplantier to minor-league camp Sunday. A former top pitching prospect in the Arizona system, Duplantier was forced to settle for a minor-league deal with the Phillies this winter after logging a 4.71 ERA and 1.51 WHIP while striking out 109 batters over 93.2 innings for the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate at Oklahoma City in 2022. He'll likely open the 2023 campaign as a swingman for Triple-A Lehigh Valley.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' Jon Duplantier: Signs with Phillies
Duplantier signed a minor-league deal with Philadelphia on Friday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Duplantier was also invited to spring training with the Phillies, where he will look to carve a role for himself -- most likely in the bullpen. The 28-year-old righty recorded a 4.71 ERA and 1.51 WHIP through 93.2 innings in Triple-A Oklahoma City last season -- by far the best Triple-A campaign of his career.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Jon Duplantier: Back in action at Triple-A
Duplantier (lat) has made two relief appearances this season at Triple-A Oklahoma City, striking out four and allowing no hits and one walk over two scoreless frames. Duplantier, a former Diamondbacks top prospect whom the Dodgers poached from the Giants in the minor-league Rule 5 draft in December, is healthy to start the 2022 campaign. He didn't make any appearances over the final two months of the 2021 minor-league campaign while he recovered from a right lat strain. The Dodgers appear content to develop him as a reliever, hoping that his size (6-foot-4, 229 pounds) and raw skills will allow the 27-year-old to emerge as a potential bullpen option for the big club down the road. Duplantier will first likely have to stay healthy for an extended period before getting a look from the Dodgers.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Jon Duplantier: Nabbed by Dodgers
Duplantier (lat) was selected by the Dodgers in the third round of the 2021 Rule 5 draft Wednesday, JJ Cooper of Baseball America reports. Duplantier inked a minor-league deal with the Giants late last week, but the team didn't add him to the 40-man roster. While it's not yet clear whether the right-hander's lat strain will keep him sidelined to begin spring training in 2022, he'll remain in the NL West as part of the Dodgers' 40-man roster.... Giants' Jon Duplantier: Lands minor-league contract
Duplantier (lat) signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Friday. Duplantier missed the second half of the 2021 campaign with a lat strain, and it's not yet clear whether he'll be ready to return in time for spring training. He made four starts for the Diamondbacks last year and gave up 19 runs in 13 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Jon Duplantier: Inks minor-league deal
Duplantier (lat) signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Friday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports. Duplantier has been dealing with a lat strain recently that could prevent him from pitching again this year, and he was released by the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. However, he'll return to the organization after he went unclaimed on release waivers.... See More ... See Less -
Jon Duplantier: Released by Diamondbacks
Duplantier (lat) was released by Arizona on Wednesday, Nick Piecoro of Arizona Republic reports. Duplantier was once considered a top prospect with a promising future in the majors. However, his career to this point has been derailed by both injury and poor performance. He's currently dealing with a lat strain that will likely prevent him from pitching again this season.... Diamondbacks' Jon Duplantier: Reinstated, sent down
Duplantier (finger) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Reno on Saturday, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports. Duplantier had been on the injured list since June 14 due to a strained right middle finger, but he began a rehab assignment with the ACL Diamondbacks on Friday. He allowed one run on two hits and no walks while striking out one in one inning, and he'll report to the Triple-A club now that he's healthy.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Jon Duplantier: Sent down
Duplantier was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Monday, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports. Duplantier was rocked for six runs on six hits over 1.1 innings Sunday against the Angels. He's struggled in four appearances this season, surrendering 19 runs across 12.1 frames. Corbin Martin was recalled in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Jon Duplantier: Turns in another rough outing
Duplantier (0-3) allowed six runs on six hits over 1.1 innings as he took the loss to the Angels on Friday. He did not strike out nor walk a batter in the effort. Duplantier has struggled in all four of his starts this season, but none of them were as bad as the one he had Sunday. The Angels piled on two runs in the first off the bat of Max Stassi and then four more in the second before he was pulled after managing to record just one out. The 26-year-old now owns a 13.15 ERA, 2.08 WHIP and a 12:8 K:BB over 13 innings. Things won't get any easier for him as he's projected to make his next start against the Dodgers if he ends up sticking around in the rotation. Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic noted that manager Torey Lovullo was late to the post-game press conference because coaches were discussing the rotation, which could mean Duplantier's days are numbered.... Diamondbacks' Jon Duplantier: Disastrous fourth leads to loss
Duplantier (0-2) lost Tuesday's start against Oakland, allowing four runs on two hits and three walks with four strikeouts in a 5-2 defeat. Making his third start of 2021, Duplantier breezed through the first three innings before allowing the first four batters of the fourth to reach base, at which point he was removed. Reliever Alex Young allowed all three inherited runners to score, leading to an unpleasant line for Duplantier despite his excellence through three frames. He's tentatively slated to pitch Sunday against the Angels but won't stick in the rotation once more proven hurlers return from the IL unless his performance drastically improves.... See More ... Diamondbacks' Jon Duplantier: Unimpressive in spot start
Duplantier gave up four runs on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts in 4.2 innings versus St. Louis on Thursday. He did not factor in the decision. The right-hander made a spot start after Matt Peacock (illness) was scratched Thursday. Duplantier was on the hook for the loss, but Arizona rallied in the seventh and eighth innings to tie the game. The 26-year-old last pitched in the majors in 2019, where he had a 4.42 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 36.2 innings. Duplantier is expected to work in a long-relief role going forward, although he could continue to be a candidate for spot starts if needed.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Jon Duplantier: Starting Thursday
Duplantier will start Thursday's game against the Cardinals. Duplantier was recalled by the Diamondbacks on Tuesday and is expected to mainly serve as a long reliever, but he'll step in as a starter on short notice after Matt Peacock (illness) was scratched from his scheduled start. Duplantier is stretched out, so he should be able to handle a full workload in his season debut.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Jon Duplantier: Recalled to big leagues
Duplantier was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday. The righty begins his first stint with the Diamondbacks of 2021 after opting out in 2020 and not making the big-league club in spring training this year. Duplantier, who posted a 4.42 ERA across 15 appearances as both a starter and a reliever in 2019, has stretched out to be a starter and figures to fill the rotation spot of Taylor Widener (groin), who was placed on the injured list Tuesday. However, he put up a 7.71 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 4:5 K:BB in seven innings across two Triple-A starts before getting the call.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Jon Duplantier: Stretched out
Duplantier threw a simulated game where he got up to 68 pitches and 5.1 innings, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports. With the Diamondbacks on the road, Duplantier is on the taxi squad and stretched out in case a starter is needed. He's a name to file away in case the team moves struggling starter Luke Weaver to the bullpen. Manager Torey Lovullo had been considering the next steps for Weaver and decided to keep him in the rotation for now.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Jon Duplantier: Sent to Triple-A
Duplantier was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Sunday. The 26-year-old missed some time in camp after cutting his finger with a razor, and he won't make Arizona's Opening Day roster. Duplantier sat out the 2020 campaign due to an elbow injury and should return to the majors at some point this season.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Jon Duplantier: Role to be determined
Duplantier could make another one or two appearances before the end of camp, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports. Duplantier missed about two weeks of camp after cutting his finger with a razor at home. He returned to action Wednesday, but manager Torey Lovullo was non-committal as to whether Duplantier, who's thrown just three spring innings to date, will have shown enough to be added to the Opening Day bullpen. Lovullo did confirm that if the right-hander does not open the season with the Diamondbacks, he would be stretched out as a starter in the minors.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Jon Duplantier: Returns to action
Duplantier (hand) threw a perfect inning in Wednesday's spring game against Cleveland. Duplantier, who had an outing scratched due to a cut on his finger, returned to action, making just his second Cactus League appearance. He's been building up slower than others due to an elbow injury that wiped out his 2020 season. As such, he may head to extended spring training.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Jon Duplantier: Outing scratched
Duplantier cut his hand and did not make a scheduled appearance Monday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo talked down the injury and doesn't expect it to linger. Duplantier, who didn't play in 2020 due to an elbow injury, has appeared in just one Cactus League game, and that one game was March 4, 11 days ago. That usage suggests the right-hander is not in the Diamondbacks' bullpen plans, and perhaps the elbow isn't up to snuff. Duplantier could eventually operate as a starter at Triple-A Reno, where he started 11 games for the Aces in 2019.... See More ... See Less
