A former top pitching prospect in the Arizona system, Duplantier was forced to settle for a minor-league deal with the Phillies this winter after logging a 4.71 ERA and 1.51 WHIP while striking out 109 batters over 93.2 innings for the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate at Oklahoma City in 2022. He'll likely open the 2023 campaign as a swingman for Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Phillies' Jon Duplantier: Signs with Phillies
Duplantier signed a minor-league deal with Philadelphia on Friday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Duplantier was also invited to spring training with the Phillies, where he will look to carve a role for himself -- most likely in the bullpen. The 28-year-old righty recorded a 4.71 ERA and 1.51 WHIP through 93.2 innings in Triple-A Oklahoma City last season -- by far the best Triple-A campaign of his career.

Dodgers' Jon Duplantier: Back in action at Triple-A
Duplantier (lat) has made two relief appearances this season at Triple-A Oklahoma City, striking out four and allowing no hits and one walk over two scoreless frames.
Duplantier, a former Diamondbacks top prospect whom the Dodgers poached from the Giants in the minor-league Rule 5 draft in December, is healthy to start the 2022 campaign. He didn't make any appearances over the final two months of the 2021 minor-league campaign while he recovered from a right lat strain. The Dodgers appear content to develop him as a reliever, hoping that his size (6-foot-4, 229 pounds) and raw skills will allow the 27-year-old to emerge as a potential bullpen option for the big club down the road. Duplantier will first likely have to stay healthy for an extended period before getting a look from the Dodgers.

Duplantier (0-3) allowed six runs on six hits over 1.1 innings as he took the loss to the Angels on Friday. He did not strike out nor walk a batter in the effort.
Duplantier has struggled in all four of his starts this season, but none of them were as bad as the one he had Sunday. The Angels piled on two runs in the first off the bat of Max Stassi and then four more in the second before he was pulled after managing to record just one out. The 26-year-old now owns a 13.15 ERA, 2.08 WHIP and a 12:8 K:BB over 13 innings. Things won't get any easier for him as he's projected to make his next start against the Dodgers if he ends up sticking around in the rotation. Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic noted that manager Torey Lovullo was late to the post-game press conference because coaches were discussing the rotation, which could mean Duplantier's days are numbered.

Duplantier (0-2) lost Tuesday's start against Oakland, allowing four runs on two hits and three walks with four strikeouts in a 5-2 defeat.
Making his third start of 2021, Duplantier breezed through the first three innings before allowing the first four batters of the fourth to reach base, at which point he was removed. Reliever Alex Young allowed all three inherited runners to score, leading to an unpleasant line for Duplantier despite his excellence through three frames.
