Lazaro Armenteros was signed back in 2016 as one of the more higher-profile international free agents of his class, and he reached Double-A as a 24-year-old while slashing .252/.383/.496 with 20 homers and 17 stolen bases over 462 plate appearances in the 2023 campaign. That success did not carry over in the Arizona Fall League, however, as Armenteros struck out 22 times in 57 plate appearances with an OPS of .541. Armenteros is a quality athlete who shows the potential to steal bases and hit for power while also drawing his share of walks, but there's been very little consistency thus far, and contact issues make it unlikely that he'll hit for a high average at the highest level.Armenteros could make his MLB debut in 2024, but there's just as much risk as there is reward in his profile, if not more.
